Message: Those TV Trays brought back many memories...I don't remember that Valentine's party. Looks like the typical girls on one side, boys on the other though, except Richard - he was always a mixer because he loved to dance! I remember when Tom Barnett jokingly told me his party would start at 7 - in the morning, not evening (hahaha). I arrived at 7am, to find I'd been had. I'm afraid I'm still gullible today, some things never change.
Tom once told me he'd give me 4 baby moon hub caps for my 58 Chev. He had to go home to get them and would meet me around back by auto shop....I was there til sundown Tom was a funny guy. Thanks Carol

Message: HHS Cougars – Class of 1962
Dear Classmates, I hope you are doing well!
The other day I purchased a new TV for my bedroom. It was a "Smart" TV. And as I was attempting to hook it up, I was thinking of how far we all have come from those wonderful days at good old Hawthorne High. This TV was so "smart" I couldn’t figure the darn thing out. Wi Fi, Internet, Netflix, Really ? If I would have had a calculator my Freshman year, I might have got an "A" in Mr. Wade’s Algebra class. Technology has taken over. I have more Apps on my cell phone than the Kardashians have husbands.
Then there’s iPads, iPods, I give up !
When Carol Wickwire spoke at our 50th, it was terrific how she talked about our dreams upon graduation and where we are today. Many if not most of us are now retired. Hopefully, we are all healthy, and living life to the fullest and continuing to "Dream"!
Turning 70 is not all that bad until someone asks you how old you are. I think Jim Reale may be 72. The way he played football in High School he must have been older than us.
I have had the privilege of being your MC for the last four reunions. It’s already been two years since our 50th. Our 60th will be in 2022. Hard to believe !
All of us have been through so many highs and lows in our lives. How could we have known how rewarding and how difficult things could be upon graduation. The Beatles, JFK, Selma, Martin Luther King, and Vietnam. What turbulent times!
The loss of loved ones particularly hurts and it is always too soon. Our fellow classmates who are no longer with us and our faculty that helped us along the way are precious memories.
When the committee gets together, we often talk about our great times at HHS. Senior ditch day, "Casual day – Bermuda shorts" , Spanish Rice, Sloppy Joes, after game dances, the WichStand, A&W Root Beer, Foster Freeze, Our El Molino, the backwards dance, the Prom, the list goes on and on. Okay, Spanish Rice and Sloppy Joes, Not so much !
Times have certainly changed ! Today we are not sure if the fences around our campus are to keep students in or keep people out. However, "Rock and Roll" is here to stay !
Class of ’62 forever !!!
If you have time, please give us an update thru the Feedback page... Please stay in touch !
Love ! George Rea
Thanks George for a great feedback, and yes we have come a long way from our hi tech device in 1962, the slide rule. class of 62ers or any class member, please do leave your thoughts and experiences of how your life has gone or changed since graduation day. I for one am still baffled at microwave ovens. How do they do that?

Message: I just saw that the class of '65 is inviting the classes of '64 and '66 to their reunion this year. I was at last year's reunion and enjoyed it a lot. However, some of the people who I had expected to see could not make it (illnesses, emergencies, and such). I just wondered if any from '64 will make it this year. It is a long trip for me to come there, so I would like to know in advance (although I did know a lot of '65ers too). Is there a running list of attendees, like we had last year?
Hi Pat, good point and yes it's hard to commit to a reunion 3000 miles away, not knowing if any of your friends will be in attendance. If the class of 65 will send me a list of their attendees, I will add it to the reunions page.

It told how the boys are into music and have their own band and feel practicing together makes them more in-tune to each others moods and that makes them better tennis players too! Wayne was interviewed for the spot also, lookin' good. It was nice to see a good story even if it was sandwiched between ISIS and Baltimore riots.
Thanks Terri, love the Bryan twins.

I'm guessing it will be close to the date that the desalination plant is finished in PVE to provide drinking water for the South Bay. Happy times for all! Message: Due to internet protocol and etiquette I had used up my allotment of name dropping, so I alluded to my current wife as "my current wife." She is a Tiger (BHS) and to be confused with me former wife who is a Cougar (HHS). My future wife may be an Oropendola (?HS), but that's a completely different story. And yes, Medford has one flight monthly (I'm guessing) that goes to Canada to qualify as an International Port.

Message: COUGAR SIGHTING! My current wife and I were standing in line to go through the all-inclusive probing, handed out by our local TSA agent at the Medford International Airport, and low & behold I spy a dude who looks a lot like Class of '65's Bruce Davidson. I know Bruce lives Florida and I try and keep myself apprised of the comings and goings of all Cougars passing through the Rogue Valley. It was Bruce flying under the radar so to speak. We had a lovely chat till our planes ripped our reunion apart. I was on my way to join Cougars: Terry Mazzotta, Dani Griffiths Lassetter, and Don Lassetter at a music festival in Austin TX, where we hooked up with Lance Bertelsen, who showed us around the University of Texas campus. The night before we left, Dick Boesinger, Class of '66, stopped by on his way South. That's about it.

Message: Daily Breeze Article: Go Cougars! Hawthorne High robotics team wins top award, heads to national competition in St. Louis When the Hawthorne High School robotics team competed last month in a regional robotics competition in Long Beach, they came to win. But when at least half a dozen other teams found themselves in a last- minute panic because of busted parts or crossed wires, the Hawthorne students didn't laugh and celebrate the bad timing of their opponents. Instead, they opened up shop and helped their competition get their robots into the best shape possible for the tournament. And that is precisely the kind of behavior that won Hawthorne the competition's most prestigious award of all: the Chairman's Award. It is given to the team that is the best role model for other teams to emulate, that basically embodies the goals and purposes of (competition sponsor) FIRST, said Eileen Kahn, senior mentor in Los Angeles for FIRST -- For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. The victory landed Hawthorne a spot in the robotics competition championships, which start today in St. Louis.
