Message: Hoping to see some of you at cruise nite this Saturday. Judy and Janny, yes, I am up for pie! Also asking my "kid" brother to go with me. When I told him we would go to the old Frosties and did he remember it, he reminded me that my folks moved to OC before he started school....oh yeah. But, I reminded him that he WAS born in Hawthorne, so should have some loyalty! Should be interesting.
Yes bring your friends and family folks, even if they didn't go to good ol' HHS.

Message: Cougar sighting! Ran into Teri Roybal(HHS'69 at Rite Aid in Palos Verdes while running errands for my mother. I always try to name a few of the sightees classmates to refresh their memories. " Do you remember Cynthia Cherbak or Sharon Herbst from '69?" : Or maybe Danny Litton who was a year older?" Her name rang a bell in my head, maybe I met her before. If so it does not count as a new sighting but I still like bumping into Cougars no matter what the situation! Any of you folks on the fence about coming to Cruise night, come on out! Especially those of you who live within a short distance of Hawthorne!
Thanks Clark and YES, come on out on Saturday for Cruise Night 30. Lots of people from lots of classes have committed to being there. It should be a fun night for all. Make your plans now and we'll see you there.

Message: Hi John, Just wanted to pass along some information. My Dad, Paul Baumgardner passed away this morning of cancer at the age of 90. He was with the Hawthorne Fire Dept. from 1946-1973 when he retired as Battalion Chief. We were very lucky to have him for so many years, he had his sense of humor till this last week when he went into a coma. He was the last surviving Baumgardner of the original 10 siblings. Thank you for your website. Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, Very sorry to hear the news about you dad. I wanted to say he will be missed but I think he outlived most all of his friends. Thanks Cheryl for letting us know. Our condolences to you and the rest of the Baumgardner family.

Message: I had forgotten about Tobor but he sounded familiar so I looked him up. When I discovered he was on Captain Video I remembered because I was a Video Ranger. Does anyone else remember Garrett AiResearch's very real robot, Garco? My Dad worked there and I would see him often at the company events. I do remember he loved playing dice games with you. He also was on the TV Disneyland several times and I think he appeared in Tomorrowland at Disneyland itself.
Hey Jer', Don't remember Garco but sounds like he had a gambling problem.

Message: Home after spending time at Disneyland with my son and his wife celebrating our birthdays. For a bonus we got an earthquake with after- shocks. We were at Disneyland when the 5.something occured and it was fun watching the looks on the faces some of the people around us. Saturday we were on the 12th floor of our hotel and had a little sway from an after-shock.
Earthquakes....gotta love God's free ride

Message: Thunderbolt the wonder colt cartoon. Ding Dong School with Miss Francis. Beanie and Cecil. And when nothing else was on, we'd sit in front of the TV and stare at the non-moving test pattern with the American Indian on it until something happened. For outside there were pea shooters, spud guns and some that just shot air. Also those crazy jets that you'd pump up with air and stand back. (I had all brothers-so this is what they did). Rock gardens that when put in a solution would grow in different colors and then what do you do with them and all those Sea Monkeys???? 7-up candy bars that had 7 different flavors in one bar. nuts, marshmallow, mint, and I can't remember the rest, but I know someone else will. Chocolate or strawberry flavored straws that you dunk in milk (they were terrible). Jacobs ladders and slinkies and if you go to World Market in Torrance you can still find them there along with Pop Rocks. There, I'm all spent!
That's a "take me back" list from our youth. Thanks Til

I have to say, if you want as close to a European experience, without having to leave the 'States,' please visit their website and have a look. I am truly impressed with the quality and the value they have offered us.
OK Class of 64, it's time to sign in and let us know you'll be there for your FIFTIETH!! Man, I remember you guys when you looked like teenagers

Message: Jimmy, regarding the under the car dash record players. (think it played 45's). I can remember us gals picking our next boyfriend over who had one and who didn't. In that era I can also hear, loud and clear, "Mr. Peppermint Man" and if we hit a bump, we could hear it from the beginning, over and over again. Seems the makers never ironed out the reason why the upside down player kept skipping, and since it was "up-side-down, the taped penny on the top wouldn't have workd, gravity ya know. So picture it, 1962 or so, usually a '57 Chevy or some hopped up car from that era - girl sitting next to driver with left arm wrapped around his shoulder, looking boss and looking for that smooth road so that we didn't have to hear Mr. PM skip to the beginning over and over again. Don't get me on the subject of open parties all over town and drag racing. I was just a spectator. THW, to this day I never heard how Mr. Peppermint Man ended as I found a new boyfriend with an 8 track tape player and they didn't skip much.
Judy, at last you can go here to hear how it ended

Message: John, there's probably a hundred of us thinking the same thing. Before 8 tracks we had record players under the dash. Remember those?
How cool I thought people were who had a high tech car record player under their dash or even a vibrasonic echoey radio. Now the trunk is filled with batteries driving 8 kilowatt boomers you can hear as far away as Ascot Speedway...... I liked the record players.

Message: Spring is here, you know, it's Dodgertime. Cozy up to the big screen, have a couple Farmer John Dodger Dogs with a Blatz or two. What's wrong with this picture? Turner Broadcasting and the Dodger front office, in their infinite wisdom, have eliminated 70% of the fans who used watch the Dodgers on the tube. Am I alone? "There is no joy in Dodgerville, Mighty Magic has struck out".
