Message: Just when you might think these Cougar sightings might be set ups, it happens to you. Waiting at AAA to get tags. Start talking to a guy with surf stickers on his truck. Turns out it is Tony Alfonso, '89 at HHS. The guy is retired out of the Marines after 21 years. His son is in Afghanistan for the next 10 months. I thanked him for his service, wished his son well and told him to look for this post. Tony had never accessed this website but promised he would.

Message: John, This all took place about 25 years ago. My mother was already retired from Continental Airlines but she was contacted by a coworker who was retiring and moving from her long-time Hawthorne home to be nearer her daughter. As I previously mentioned, she was not able to move her son's piano with her so she wanted it to go to a family with children so they could learn piano. I went with my parents in a rented Uhaul to pick up the piano. It was behind the Hawthorne mall and on a corner lot. She told me the story of her son being killed in Vietnam and how much he had loved music. She was a tiny (short and thin) lady with light hair and had been a single mother of her son and daughter. I am so annoyed with myself that I cannot remember her name, but ever since your Vietnam Wall page I have wondered if one of those young men could have been the original owner of our piano. I looked at the "Where we Lived" page but was unable to find any names in the area I think her home was located that matched any names on Vietnam Page. Again, I want to thank all the people on CT who have tried to help me solve this puzzle.

Message: What a game! A ton of Trojan fans here in Maui, and I was one of them for obvious reasons. And a Duck/USC final for the Pac 12 championship would be great. Just the signs on "Game Day" would be epic, should they choose to be there. Sorry Dean, but Christmas trees are destined to be cut down. Good to see Pacos name pop up. I was beginning to wonder if Temecula had an internet connection
...Aloha Trojans!

Message: Thanks for all the feedback concerning my question on our HHS Vietnam casualties. I had already checked the Vietnam Wall page on CT to see if any of those names could be the one I am seeking, but unfortunately, I cannot remember the last name of the woman my mother worked with so I was hoping someone out there in CT would be able to help based on the location of his home - just east of the Hawthorne Mall. Thanks again for the responses.

Message: Dean: You proved yourself to be a class act with your kind words. I just got home from the L.A. coliseum and it was pandemonium after the Trojans beat a very good (previously #4 ranked) Stanford team. It was homecoming too which was great. Both homecoming games I attended this year(HHS & USC) proved to be exciting games. The pressure on the kicker was horrendous. Had he missed the kick he would have had to transfer to UCLA on Monday if he got out of the coliseum alive!

Message: Congratulations to all the SC Trojans. You have a coach, a good QB, a passing attack and a solid defense. In short, you have all the makings to make a run for the Pac 12 title. Its been a long journey, but you're back now that Pat Haden and Coach ? (Orgeron) are directing Trojan football Oh yes, it also helps that Lane Kiffen is long gone! Now go run the table and take it to the Ducks.

Message: A Hawthorne Vietnam Wall is an outstanding idea. Along with that, can we also put a list of all who served our country in Vietnam, the Middle East and any other recent (since 1952) conflicts. Although they didn't pay the ultimate sacrifice, they deserve our recognition as well.

Message: Tim Thomas is a member of the class of '66. You also missed the first friend I had when we moved to California, Gregg Pritchett Leuzinger class of '66. The LA Times had a section on page 3 of the Section 1, called Southland men killed in Vietnam. I read this every morning first thing with my stomach in my throat hoping not to see a familiar name or worse a friend.

Message: An update on the status of a HHS Class of 1964 50th reunion. I have gotten so many positive responses from our classmates, I believe this will happen. The current choice, among those who have stated a preference, seems to be at the Ayres Hotel on September 26 and 27, 2014. I await further feedback. I will get back to all who have replied, once I get an idea of what your choices seems to be. I've been offered some surprises by classmates, and I think this will be a great time for all. Please let me know what you'd like. Thanks, Glenn

Message: Linda Dill, your message reminded me that Tim Thomas and I rode together to Los Angeles circa January 1966 after receiving our Selective Service notification to report for a physical. It is a great tragedy to lose anyone in battle and particularly friends and relatives. Unfortunately, I am unable to help you identify the other gentleman who died in Viet-Nam. I am also a pianist and only vaguely remember classmates from Mr. Allen's class. However, now that you have raised the question, I, too would like to know who.
