Message: Sorry that I couldn't make it to the VFW Breakfast. I found myself suddenly staying in Newport Beach and I had no way to get down to Hawthorne. I understand there were quite a few Cougars there. I managed to see Kathy Barnes while she was in town and I also talked to Diane Beery Porter. Maybe in another decade I'll manage to be here when there is a cruise night.

Message: Kudos to commander Jan and his troops at the VFW for another nice breakfast this morning. The best part is the ability to connect with Cougars from other eras and hear their stories. Had a nice chat with Tom Shelley, Mo Trott and Bob Fraser which shows there are good people from HHS across the ages! I got up to chat with some folks for a minute and I specifically told Jans cadet cleanup crew not to clear my food. Of course they did and I went bollistic on Jan. he demanded a receipt to prove I had paid for breakfast. The ladies at the front table like me, so they gladly provided a hand-written receipt and Jan finally broke down (good guy that he is) and gave me another omelette. A nice morning all around.

Message: Since I can't get any of the last 5 songs, I guess I'm over the hill, I just wanna say this, I saw Willie Mosconi in an exhibition at South Bay Bowl in 59 or 60 and as it turns out he was the technical advisor, He taught Paul Newman, who had never touched a pool stick, and he recommended Jackie Gleason for the role of Minnesota Fats in one of my favorite movies, The Hustler. He also plays a small role. He holds the record for most balls made in a row, 526, in straight pool.

I'd like to find where she was laid to rest....but I will always love and honor her in my heart for all she did for me. Thought someone here might have more info as her kids Debra and David also went to Hawthorne.
