Message: No I don't cheat, I only used the app that one time I told you about, I think it was a Beach Boy song and then for Autumn Leaves which I didn't guess, when I was young I had close to a photographic memory and that is long gone however I usually know 15-20 right off the bat. More often than not if I don't recognize the song I never laid ears on it i.e. Hushabye, I have only heard the Mystics version. And My little corner of the world I knew instantly and I haven't heard or thought of for over 50 yrs and that reminded me of Paper roses. Now admittedly, Are you lonesome tonight was tough I don't think It was long enough to hound, so no fear if I hound a song I won't guess it.
Thanks Gary, I was just funnin' ya man.

Message: I've read Heroes And Villains: The True Story Of The Beach Boys Gossipy truths about the early life of the Wilson brothers by Steven Gaines. Surfer Band that changed the course of history with their unique blends and harmonies. Mentions Dennis Wilson's involvement with the Charles Manson gang as well as Brian's eccentric behavior and heavy drug use. There have been many books written about them. Local book stores (if you can find one) should be able to order. Lots of used books available on line.

Message: Again.... I'm not saying that the VFW won't serve up good hash browns Sunday, but Jan just asked me how long he should boil them up and would cinnamon work out well to give them that crispy brown look. Oh God, I hope they're good or I will never hear the end of it from Sid Bakerman. (happy face here)
I would like them just like Bob's Big Boy hash browns from the 60s.

Message: FYI to my fellow Cougars...the VFW breakfast is this Sunday, 9am to 11:30. After having to endure some persistent nagging has made me make a menu change this month...I'm serving HASH BROWNS instead of the easier to prepare home fries. Some people just never give up trying to get me to change my menu....do they, Johnny? I don't know how these will turn out or if I can keep up with the orders but I'll give it my best Marine Corps try! IMPROVISE...OVERCOME...ADAPT! I'm working with a small flat top and the hash browns will be sharing space with the pancake lady. Who will need more space at the next breakfast in July will be determined by Sunday noon. Another FYI is that there will be NO breakfast in June...it falls on fathers day. But we will be back in July. Hope to see some new faces on Sunday...even some OLDER faces. And from that far away land called Greece, Jimmy Peppers will be visiting with us. It seems our breakfast has gone international and the talk of the town in Athens. Actually, Athens is a neighborhood just east of the Hawthorne Airport. So much for international. Come on down to the breakfast and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Ask Clark Millman...I give him extra egg shells with his egg order! Your donation and continued support helps the Post with our various veteran programs. See you Sunday. Semper Fi
Hi Jan, Well FINALLY....Hashbrowns. The thing that can put the VFW on the culinary road to total breakfast success. Yes folks, it's this Sunday. Come on out and try Janny's famous breakfast. It's the best food this side of Athens.

Message: It sounds like the snippets are getting shorter! That spells trouble for me since my brain is moving slower as I get older. However I think I hear: Searchin - Johnny Burnett, Poetry In Motion, So Sad- The Everly Brothers and a song I only know as "Seaman", it was a translation of a German tune...
Looks like they need to be shorter yet Thanks Cliff

Message: Hello, I have never been on this site before, but I thought it would be a great place to get some information. My son has a report due for school, and the topic he chose is The Beach Boys! I have been to all of the local libraries, and surprisingly, they have nothing about them. If there is anyone that could post some info on them or pictures, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!!!
Hi Jolene, Thanks for checking in and please see the post below this one.

Message: Hi, I have never posted before - but I love this site. I do have a question though - my grandson has a project due and his topic is the Beach Boys. Can you believe that the Wiseburn, Hawthorne and Lawndale libraries do not have any information on them! If anyone has anything - pictures, articles, etc that you would like to share, please let me know. THANK YOU!
Hi Susan, I would suggest Googling Beach Boys. I'm sure you'll find more information than your grandson needs. Thanks for checking in.

Message: Just read John "The Enforcer" Baker's denial of Cougar sighting points for Clark's Mothers Day Cougar encounter. I liked the analogy about going to HHS and seeing Cougars, but give Clark a little more love. Ha ha Hey, good news. I just got a raise! Our youngest is graduating from SDSU Friday, which means no more $$ traveling from The OC to San Diego and more $$ available for all the honey dos that keep getting added to my list. Jill, where are you? It's time to organize an OC Cougar get together and you are our leader.
Congrats to your youngest Tom and yes Jill, where are you? Clark, get up and go find a Cougar.

Message: Gary Bickers' post from Lion's Drag Strip reminded me of this. I recently saw a monthly parking lot car show/display in Kihei, here on Maui. One owner displayed his '54 Ford 2-door that he purchased here new, 59 years ago. Never rained on, the car has 70K mi on it with deep, dark green paint and a cream top that was originally black. It sported the LONG, two foot rear bumper w/ the "Continental Package" spare tire. It made me think of all the cars & car guys in the old Hawthorne days. Admittedly, I must say that I couldn't stop staring at that ride! Dang, I felt like I was staring like I did the first time I saw a naked woman....think I was about thirty! Anyway cool, old cars are in our blood and they sure are fun to see when people bring 'em out on the weekends. *Disclaimer: This was a post with no particular point, meaning or significance. :)
Hey Jim, Love those continental kits.

Message: Cougar sightings on Mothers Day!! It must be baseball season because today I had a triple sighting! For those of you who regularly read feedback you might remember that last year while having lunch on Mothers Day I tried to think of someone who deserved some roses but might not get any. I thought of the mother of an HHS classmate who is in her late eighties. She appreciated it alot last year so I thought a repeat was in order. When I knocked on her door today a group of family members were there and I had no idea anyone would be there. The Cougars there were Josette Gumina('67), Sal Gumina ('76) and Glenda Prendes Gumina('79. I think I earned the right for one "In your face Sloey!" They just come to me like moths to a flame! No cheers, no cheerleader outfit, just good luck. on top of that I got the "warm fuzzies" inside as I drove away after performing my good deed for the day! Jim Sloey: The Target story was funny but you might want to think twice before irritating someone who is coming to see you on July 4th and is bringing combustible fireworks capable of burning your home down! Ha-ha. Just kidding Jim, looking forward to the 4th in Solvang!!
Hey Clark, gotta let this one pass on by, man. You go to a known Cougar Mother's house and see a Cougar? That's like claiming a Cougar Sighting at HHS. Glad you did the good deed though and thanks for trying.
