Message: Yes John! You are absolutely correct! It was Gabby Hayes. And as I recall, Sloeone, he had a lot of nifty old sayings, didn't he? GOSH! I did love that Gabby! Maybe Cougartown is a little slow right now John because it's Christmastime and everyone is rushing around for another old bearded fellow's arrival, Sandy Claus. It will be busier after the holidays. And BTW!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Lots of love to my fellow C-towners, and I wish you peace and joy!
Hi Doris, Yes Ctown is normally slow this time of year but this year it's "molasses slow". I'm sure it will pick up after the holidays. Merry Christmas to you, my dear, and a Happy New Year too.

Message: Calling all 1963 Graduates! We (Dorothy Johnston Slawson and I) and others, are planning our 50th HHS Reunion, October 11/12 2013, at Ayre's Hotel, in Hawthorne. We would appreciate all 1963 grads to "update" their information, in Cougartown-i.e. e-mail/home addresses, etc, for our first "blast" mailout of invitations, for the Reunion. We will hope to do this, in January, with more information, in the ensuing months. Please advise your friends from other classes, as well. We want this to be a great 50th, and we need your help. Looking forward to hearing from you, and if there are "out of town/state" grads, who are interested in attending, please note that there will be a "block" of rooms, at Ayres, for your use. More information on that, very soon. Looking forward to our 50th! Kind regards, Linda Huthmaker/Torrance, California
OK 63ers, here you go. A full blown 50th for you. Yes, please make sure your email and address info is correct on the Cougartown Info System so your reunion committee can find you. If you've never added your email or address info, please go here. If you have a User Name and Password please go here. If you need help adding your info please email me (email address at the bottom of this page) and I will help. This is really the only way we have to keep our classmates corraled. Good luck with your reunion, Class of 63.

Message: A very HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Hoodman! He's such a young whippersnapper. And WHO can tell me who used to use that word all the time. He was the sidekick of a famous cowboy who made movies and starred on TV as well, I think. Personally ... I can't remember who he was the sidekick "of", nor can I remember the old guy's name who used to call everybody a "young whippersnapper". He wore a beat-up old cowboy hat and had a bit of a handlebar mustache that was white or gray-white. And he had an extremely unique voice! And maybe no teeth. Who has the names? Jerry Miles perhaps? Or maybe you, John???
Gabby Hayes comes to mind, Doris. He was Roy Rogers' sidekick in the early days and had his own TV show in the early 50s, sponsored by Quaker Oats. "Quaker Oats is shot from Guns", ol' Gabby would say....and I believed him too. Thanks Doris for checking in and for waking us up and Happy Birthday Robin.

Message: Hey Jude I'd love to be there for the VFW breakfast, but the drive from Sonoma makes it a really expensive breakfast, even with lower gasoline prices. Could you possibly move it to say Fresno and split the difference? Cougartowner's, if you're close by and don't have other Sunday breakfast plans, you're missing a great breakfast, great bargain and a chance to support those who have kept us safe. And John, can you put up another thermometer, possibly on the other side of the page so it doesn't get confused with the HHS Sports crusade, for the wax? I have a can of Carnauba paste wax I can send Janny, but he'd still have to apply it. Happy Christmas season everyone.
It has to be Brazilian Carnauba Wax Glenn Also, ask Jasmine to call me please.

Message: Two subjects: 1) regards funding the sports program at HHS; I think we were all excited last year but this year the school put the same old tired coach that lost every game for 5-6 years. I think they already gave up so why should I care. 2) the Beach Boy picture above; can anyone tell me where it was shot and what is in the background?
Hi Gary, In my opinion it's not about wins and losses but about the kids themselves, whether it's football, basketball, etc. The school needs a sports program and the state is broke (but they will fund a bullet train from Bakersfield to Fresno). Sure it's nice to win but the money won't recruit great players or hire great coaches, just provide a vehicle for competition.
The picture, Jerry Miles provided. I'm sure he can tell you more about that. The yellow house looks like the late Louis Marotta's house on the northeast corner of 119th St and Doty.

Message: Since it's so slow in CT, let me take this opportunity to say thank you to all my friends here that asked me if they could do anything for me after my recent surgery...and all I have to say is that I've told all of you a hundred times that I need a Brazilian Bikini wax, but no one will call me back. I don't get it. Also, the needle on donations for HHS sports programs is certainly stuck in Limbo, so As soon as I'm back in action, I'll be having a couple of raffles for the cause at the Haw VFW where I can turn those Bingo players up-side-down and shake the quarters and dimes outta them. We did so well a couple of years ago with donations almost up to $11,000, but this seems to be something that is not thought of as important anymore. If everyone gave 5 clams, that needle would never stop moving. So, bottom line -- give to the HHS donation program or get your ass over here and give me my Brazilian. The choice is yours. (somehow I think the donations needle will move now).
Yes it will And just a reminder that the VFW Breakfast is this Sunday. Please come if you can and support our Hawthorne VFW. Thanks Til.
