Message: Happy Birthday Sharon Moore Leach. It was so great seeing you at the 1964 reunion. A great surprise since neither of us graduated in 1964. Thank you to the class of '64 for allowing us to be a part of your reunion and reconnect with old friends. It was a fabulous weekend! John, it was great to see you at the reunion too. Danny is still upset that he did not get to play Volleyball. Next time Danny!
Nice to see you and Danny there Diane. The class of 64 ROCKED the house. It turned out so well, and they have the contacts now, it would be a snap to have another one in 2014.

Message: Hi Cougartown! John Baker (hi John!) told me I need to get back over here and say hello. I've been a bit ummmm under the weather for the past couple of months. I'm getting my energy back and am working on catching up on chores and paperwork! I actually have a request too. My friend has a rental in Redondo Beach and needs a good plumber. Anyone have any recommendations? Looking forward to catching up on all the feedback too! Thanks!
Hi Cindy, it's been over 3 years since we last heard from you. I was about ready to round up a posse Welcome back and please email Cindy if you have plumber recommendations.

Message: It is time to remind everyone from the class of 1970 to 1973 that our reunion is coming up very soon. The discounted ticket price of $70.00 per person is good through June 1, 2011 and then you are going to pay an extra $15.00 after June 2nd. Remember that Friday night, August 26th we are meeting at the old Del Aire Community Building (The log cabin on Aviation) now known as Tony’s. I can still smell the green stuff (no Judy, not the money that dropped out of your brassiere) that green stuff that you through on the floor and then swept up to clean the floor.
Whatever happened to that green stuff?

Message: So, the needle is stuck at "'almost' 7 thou." If it doesn't move by the weekend, I'll be forced to make a donation from my cat (Stinky) just to say "it's moving again." ~~~~~ FYI, Tomorrow (Thursday) there's a K9 dinner at the Hawthorne Memorial Center. (Prairie and El Segundo) Proceeds go to training the Hawthorne Police Dogs. Dinner served from 5 till 7. Chicken-baked beans-corn-roll. You can buy your tickets at the door. See you there.
Actually John and Sherri (Jones) Niemela HHS62 and brother Virgil Niemela HHS62; Debra Porter Dickerson HHS71 and Marilyn Wisham Ross HHS56 generously donated so our total is now at $7416.00. Thank you all for your donations to our football program. We are getting close to our goal but "Stinky", you might have to get off the cat nip for a few months.
The K9 dinners are always the Best and for a great cause. Hope to see some of our Ctown family there tomorrow night.

Message: I didn't play football at HHS, and my sports (Swimming, Water Polo & Surfing) are long gone. We all know what organized sports can do to develop character in young people, and it's a damn shame when those life tools are taken away from those who need it the most. I noticed that there are no Class of '73 donors on the list, so I guess I'll be the first to contribute, and issue a challenge for every other class of '73 CT member to do the same. I wish I could do more, but every little bit helps.
Yes indeed Alan, well said, and thanks very much for your contribution to help the football program.

Message: Wow, I see that CT only has a little under 4 grand to make the goal. I cannot believe that we are 2/3 of the way there. Good work everyone. As Judy would say, ladies dig into your brazziers and knee-highs. Guys dig into your...well use your imagination. I'm sure we all have a few spare pennies, we are so close. Don't have that designer cup of coffee today or whatever little extra you do during the week and send that money to the HHS cause. It won't take long. It's sad to see that the kids don't have the benefits we had in high school. A sad commentary for our times, but let them know that we are in their corner.
Amen to that Sharon. Yes we are at $6300.00 now and climbing. If you haven't yet donated, please consider it and if you have, thanks again for helping out our Cougar Footballers.

Message: Yesterday's VFW breakfast was really great. Cougars filled up 3 tables! A big thanks to Principal Mark Newell for joining us, too. Enjoyed talking to Clark Millman and "Cookie" Blomsterberg was behind the stove cooking up a fantastic breakfast. It was a fun morning overall!
Yes it was and thanks from me too, to all who came down yesterday. It was nice to see 3 tables full of Ctowners. No breakfast at the VFW in June because of Fathers day.

Message: Hi Fellow Cougars, Cougar Sighting, yesterday-Sunday, May 15, 2011. Chatted with Coach Sid Semon, at a fellow TWA Pilot's Memorial Service, at the Flight Path Museum. He and wife Donna are doing well. If you get a chance, visit the Flight Path Museum, located on Imperial Highway, near the Cargo buildings. You will enjoy the memorabilia from many airlines, including some, which are no longer in existence. Regards, Linda Huthmaker
Good one Linda, glad to hear about Coach Semon and that he's doing well. Thanks very much.

Message: Anybody remember me. I would have been in the class of 71, except my family moved to O.C. in Nov. 1966. I went to Ramona Elementary and Hawthorne Intermediate. Was in Cub Scout Pack 584 and Boy Scout Troop 262. I also have an older brother (Stan) and Sister (Julie}, they went to Lawndale High. Just wondering about old friends from Hawthorne.
Hey Paul, I was in 584 too, but way before you. I think you'll find a friend or two here.

Message: While sitting in the reception area while my wife had her company physical, I "Did a Clark" and announced that I was a graduate of Hawthorne High. The receptionist was Jacqueline Huitron, C/O 2000. Wow, it was easy, and didn't even cost me the price of a cheese cake.
GREAT ONE Richard and thanks to Clark for showing how it's done.

Message: So... just returned from the Haw VFW Bingo where all the ladies emptied their braziers of (hidden) money to the tune of $ 115.00. A few even checked their knee high support stockings and came up with more loose change.. more donations for the HHS Football Uniforms. BTW - Janny is going to be cooking the breakfast there this Sunday, and so it looks like I'll have to be the Friendly Juice Maiden again. If you don't see me in front, then I'll be scrubbing pots and pans in the kitchen. (I'm shooting for FJM )
And you'll make it too Judy. Thanks to you and all the VFW Bingo people for their help.

Message: Sidney..do you mean to tell me that we went past the half way mark for the football donations and no one even gave one cheer??? Unbelievable! Tomorrow night we'll pass the hat again at the VFW bingo and when those little ol', blue haired ladies tell me they don't have any money, I always tell them to check their brazier and/or knee highs---they always toss in a few bucks. Be back Saturday AM with a little more dough. (now, go check your braziers girlies, don't let me do this alone.)
Yes we are half way to our goal of 10 kilobones for the football team and I want to thank our donors for checking their bras and coming up with donations. Everyone has been very generous. Judy, keep after them. Seriously, the VFW has been very generous. To all our Ctowners in the area, please show your appreciation by coming out to the VFW Breakfast on Sunday morning. It's a great breakfast, great Cougar friends, and it goes to a great cause, our Military Veterans. Hope to see a bunch of new faces on Sunday morning.

Message: Thanks April and Greg for letting a few of us 65ers crash your '64 reunion party and win all your door prizes. Dani Griffiths, Don Lassetter and myself spent our Saturday tracking down our favorite biology teacher, Mr. Kyllonen, who volunteers as a docent at the Living Desert Museum. Once we found him, he wasn't sure we were really his former students until we gave him the secret code phrase, "Xylem up and phloem down". It was only then that we got hugs and a personalized tour. Great day!
Nice to see you're still working Mr. K
