Message: Eric! Well I REMEMBER when Ingrid graduated!! She was with me! And I'm so looking forward to visiting with her on Cruise Nite. For the rest of you, please bring your checkbooks (OK, I'll take cash too but I'd like you to get the tax deduction) and will happily accept your donations for the refurbishment of the war memorial at Hawthorne Memorial Park. There is a fund drive through the Hawthorne VFW and the memorial is in desperate need. If you need some inspiration, just scroll through the Vietnam pages here on Cougartown or think back to your own father's service to our nation. And I promise you, NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL. I'll have a table set up at Foster's and I'll be milling through the crowd with my sister and likely with Ingrid. Thank you all in advance for your generosity. XOXO
I'll be glad to donate to the memorial Sue and thanks to you and Janny for bringing it to our attention.

Message: John, I sent out a blast to all my classmates (as Ed mentioned) and got response from people as far away as San Diego that they will be there. You will be able to tell the people from the 70’s era. They will be the one’s that are NOT sporting walkers and starch in their bras and jocks. I think that there may be a slight problem with parking those “Senior Scooters” belonging to the 60’s era gang and still having room for all the younger people that show up. (John and you 60’s Cougs I am just kidding and don’t mean to hurt feelings… OK?) I sent a call to all the committee members working on the 70-73 reunion planned for this August to show up too. Unfortunately because FF does not have a liquor license, I fear not many from that bunch will show (LOL)…but I will be there and hope the rest of the committee shows. I’m stopping on the way into town to pick up my little sister Ingrid. She’s so young, I don’t remember what class she was in. I’m looking forward to seeing you again John. The last time we spoke face to face you were awarded a throne …a flushable throne, remember that Cruze-In? May the Cougar be with you all, see you Saturday.
That was Cruise Night 1 and yes I do remember the Throne See you Saturday, Eric and Ingrid.

Message: Betty - I'm with you. We were too young to be a part of the bra starching/ironing era. The 60's for us began at age 9 and lasted all the way to the end of our 18th year. Things that I remember from that time frame are American Bandstand, Bellbottom Pants, Bouffant Hair Styles, Chinese Fire Drills and Go-Go boots! :)

Message: Hey, Paco LOL;Are you still having that problem with your Viagra & Iron pill supplements you advised me about. I think you told me that when you take them, and Sharon gets you excited, you keep pointing North, I don't think a starched size small jock will help this condition. Thank goodness when you go to cruise night you will be travelling North bound, but how are you going to get home ?, will someone else help you point the way LOL.XoXoXo, Love ya maaaan!!,Jorge

Message: Good morning Cougars I think the spray starch went out with modern liberty of no more ironing(new non iron fabrics) and burn the bra thingy, then the points were naturally there(Yes Wayne kinky) more of a struggle in behaving? We wised up to petty pants, shorter bloomers, culottes (slip material made like shorts, to wear under the garmet) and don't forget Hot pants and short sizzler dresses with matching panties! Purchased at the Famous Anita's shop on Broadway and Hawthorne Blvd. I even had a dress with matching fabric chain purse. Come on girls, guys, did I forget anything? Later came edible underwear (licorice) attending a naughty lady party and crotchless undies, whoda thunk??? Uncle Ben gave me kamasutra powder for my birthday later in the years, how hep, Huh? Have I stirred some memory banks? What caught your eye, maybe even got you hooked back in the day? Have a good one! I'm waiting to read some good stuff Cathie

Message: Just received an email from c/o 70 Eric Larson asking for those from the c/o 70 to come down and join us at Fosters this Saturday. Let's get some of you down there, and looking forward again. I would love to see some familiar faces again.
Hey Edward, Thanks for the plug and you're right, let's have a record breaking turnout for this weekend's Cruise Night.

Message: I don't remember ironing bras or starching any undergarments, but I do remember pantaloons, Iron weave nylons, and mini skirts! We had a criteria for mini skirts- 1 - 2 inches above the knee - yeah sure! I'm 60 now and can still wear a mini skirt - feels good that the gams held up! And Wayne, tell the story about how you met Donna at our 30th Reunion - and how you scammed me!!!!
Yeah Wayne, tell that story.

Message: John, the weather is not looking to good for Cruise Night. Are you going to post something late Friday or Saturday for us Cougars that have a long commute.
Hey Richard, My weather report for Saturday says partly sunny and cool. I will be there even if we have to hold up in your car If the weather report changes, I'll post something. Thanks for the concern and I'll see you there.

Message: Good Monday Morning Cougars I know of push up bras not pointed bras but could you imagine one side caving in, that would be a sad look! I had a blow up slip, ya blew up the tube at the hemline and it made the dress stand out in a circle. Ya just had to remember to put your hands in your lap before sitting or ya had half a circle of everything on dislay from the waist down. Come on, I know someone else must have owned and wore one? Be brave and admit it cause ya also had to be careful upon picking something up, like a pencil a guy would deliberately drop? In football, I knew how to get the ball to the other side for points and was a fast dodging runner, good at it and that's all I understood of the game. Wrestling and tag-tickle to death from lack of air! Ya didn't have to beg Hawthorne kids to go outside. They were out there, Sun-up to Sundown building forts in empty lots, collecting empty pop bottles for candy money, Sting Ray bikes and metal wheel roller skates that we'd spark at night till our parents begged us back in the house. My mom would say, did you forget where you lived? You are supposed to be in by dark! Have a great day Cathie

Message: I know I wrestled with 1 or 2 (conservative estimate) girls while in High School. The way I remember it, very few matches resulted in a "pin". More likely we got called on fouls for illegal contact, while our opponents got fouls for stalling.

Message: TV wrestling? While attending HHS I heard it referred to as "Davenport Rugby" or "Roam'n Wrestling". Based on Wayne's post below I'm glad he was varsity wrestling at HHS several years ahead of me when I was a freshman "fish". I remember Wayne hailing coach Yost and calling the varsity team "Big Brother and The Holding Company". I'm not sure whether coach Yost was amused or not. I don't have a bra story, how about one concerning a different undergarment? At the conclusion of P.E. class one afternoon in 1969, I saw Jill Blevins (who had been a classmate since Eucalyptus School days) drop something while crossing the R.R. tracks as students were walking back to their locker rooms. Since chivalry was not yet dead, I hastened to retrieve the dropped item and return it to Jill. This particular item turned out to be some rolled up panties which I held up and which then unrolled amidst a crowd of girls. Everyone within sight was immediately laughing. I wasn't laughing.

Message: Hey, Wayne; I sent you a response to your question, but John didn't print it, so I'll try again. John, as I posted earlier to your question on waynes thread, this is not one of my particular stronger subject matters, however, I do have some firsthand knowledge & expertise on this issue. I try LOL, to respond only to things I do have some experience with (am I being redundant ?). As for the bras thing, way back when we were in H/S & out on a good date (they were all good dates, some were just better than others), I could get a girls bra uhooked as fast as "Two And A Half Men's" "Charlie Harper", as could most guys my age who had or had access to a car, it just took practice, lots of practice.Jorge

Message: Good Sunday morning Cougars Funny I don't remember Wayne being bashful wrestling around, especially at Eucalyptus Park with the girls!!! My mom has several pointed bra pictures, us girls would say what God has forgotten you can stuff with cotton. Thankful for the push ups and the orange ice cream kind too! New subject, I got a New baby grandaughter on 3/16/11 12:37am. Her name is Leah Avianna via mom and dad Angie & Joey. The circle of life, ain't it Wonderful. All you Cougars make your day beautiful and have fun. If any of you are going to Disney today I'll see you at the Haunted Mansion, hope so anyway. Take care Cathie

Message: Neil, Dude, this is to early in the morning to see this kind of self pitty stuff. I don't mean to be a cheerleader, but like John Boy says, get happy. Hey, I don't know you or remember you, but remember this, no matter what they tell you in this life, "It's just a game". The real object in life is to get older without growing up. I once spent 4 months in the hospital after a terrific traffic accident, they told me I would not walk again. I did not listen to them and all they did was make me mad. Now, I just do things a little slower, but I get them done. Anyhow, didn't want to get to serious with you, cause I don't really know your situation, only you do. But get with the program and get yourself out of the hospital and start getting older without growing up, I'm sure there is a lot of life and good times left in you. Jorge

Message: Now that were getting closer to the finish line, did you really want to grow up, wasn't just grow old enough? Mark Twain, one of the earlier teachers at HHS, reminds us the older we get, the more clearly you remember the things that never happened.
Hey Neil, You have GOT to get busy LIVING!!
