Message: Last Monday (Oct 19) I went, with a friend with whom I worked at TWA, to my "Old Stomping Ground", Hawthorne, and we were invited into the house in which I grew up, on 123rd street. What a lovely place it turned out to be, with a family from Mexico, having purchased it, @ 15 years ago (my family left for Torrance, in 1965). The home is beautiful, and very handsomely decorated, with a Fireplace! Anyway, it was great to see my home, and glad that the folks were so cordial, to me and Kay. Great fun! It proves that you "can" go home, again. Linda
Hey Linda, I was just thinking about doing the same thing with my house on Cedar Av, this morning. Glad you had a chance to go home again. Wish me luck.

Message: Well had a Cougar Sighting. Had lunch with Tina Keller (class of 1980) and her mom (Rosie) and Tina's boyfriend Gary at Pf Changs yesterday. I have not seen Tina since around 1980 or so. I love their family. It was her house I was at when I got into that motorcycle accident when I was 15 1/2. We grew up in Holy Glen. They don't live in the house they had but still own it and rent it out. Tina looked as pretty as ever as did her mom. It was awesome going over old times. It was Rosie and her husband Dan who couldn't make it cause he was on a Harley ride who got me into serious working out. It was great seeing them.
Great Coug Sighting Keith, thanks very much...

Message: This is a message to my brother Neil as well as to all that remember the old Radio personalities and music of our youth. Here are two links. The first is a tribute to Emperor Hudson (remember Hudson & Landry?) and the second is a link to a tasty little out of the way radio station on the outskirts of Los Angeles County...out where Mike Ohren (70) and Jim Doersam (69) and his wife Katrina (70) reside. This station can be accessed via the Internet. I enjoy listening when I visit the A.V..
I loved Hudson and Landry and remember when they had a radio show on KMPC in the late 60s and early 70s. Funny guys....check out the Real Audio clip above. I remember how Bob Hudson (Emperor Bob) would close his show, in the early days. "Get the peasants out of the street, I'm driving home". Thanks Eric for the memory flogger.

The biggest bummer is that there is no beach for 300 miles... and a bazillion bugs all year except for the months of Nov, Dec, Jan. But my sister Lori comes to visit often for 6 or 7 weeks at a time. She is still as sweet and beautiful as she always was. you can contact us 951-805-6157. I am still very close to my dearest friends Gina Zaccaglin & Dan Velez. They are truly the kindest and most sincerest of all friends. Take care and I hope to hear from a few of you soon. Like..... John Hargrave, Ronnie Ryhal, Toni Casey, Sidney Portier xoxoxo

Message: My heart goes out to Jan Freeman Peterson. She has been a faithful and consistent poster here on Feedback and I have always enjoyed her cheerful, funny and interesting comments. After seeing Roberta's entry I realize that it has truly been some time since hearing from Jan. I hope that if she checks in here, she will find love and support and Cougar caring. I too, am a California State Employee and am sad for the loss of her son. I can only imagine what a wonderful guy he was to have been raised by her. Perhaps there is comfort in knowing how lucky HE was to have HER as a mom. Hugs Jan - thoughts and prayers are with you from all over Cougartown. Please check in with us when you can.

Message: Just recently I received a note from Jan Freeman Peterson (1967). It's been a very tough few months for Jan, because on July 16, she lost her dear son, Jason. It was sudden and unexpected. I am going to share a part of Jan's note to me, because I feel she explains it best: "We were at our Utah house the end of June, when we got a call that our youngest son, Jason had a simple leg injury while working out at the Gym. He was a Correctional Officer, and the gym was part of his job for staying fit. The reason I said was, is on the evening of 7/16/09, he died from complications from the injury. Actually cause of death was Bilateral Massive Pulmonary Emboli. No symptoms until minutes before he died. It was been horrible since then. I can safely say that I will never recover from this. We will take one day at a time. You are not supposed to bury your children." I have attached a photo of Jan and her beloved Jason, taken at his graduation from CDCR (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. As Jan said, "He loved his job. Jason was a truly happy man who loved his family and friends so much." Jan (I know her as Janis) is a beautiful lady and I am so happy to know her again. We were best friends during our youth and until she and her family moved away. But thanks to Cougartown, we were able to reconnect and share our wonderful friendship again. Janis, you and your family are in my thoughts, in my prayers and always in my heart. I send my love!
Jan, very sorry for the loss of your son. Our prayers are with you.

Message: Hello Cougs, well here I am in New Hampshire and we had our first dusting of snow this morning a month earlier then normal. I had an interesting conversation with a coworker who is a former South Bay resident. He asked me if I knew Chet Pipkin, HHS class of 1978 (I don't have a yearbook for '78 and he's not on the alumni list - confirmation anyone?). I didn't know Chet but my coworker did some work for him some years back. Apparently, Chet started a company in his garage in Hawthorne in the early 80's which has become very successful. Ever hear of Belkin International Inc.? Chances are you own something that was manufactured by Belkin. Its headquarters are in Carson, and I believe he is a Manhattan Beach Resident. Back in early September, there was some feedback discussion about the new DaVinci Charter school at the Dana middle school site. It also just so happens that Chet Pipkin is President of the Board of Trustees of the DaVinci school. So, if Chet is indeed an HHS Alumni, then it's great to see that he has not forgotten his roots despite the success of his business ventures. Check this out and this for more info.
Thanks Rick, I do know Belkin - big in all kinds of electronics.
