Then Allie and I are roaring back to Laguna Beach to get Allie to her soccer match. By the time that all ends, the picnic will be in the memory books. Please take lots of pictures. Message: Well, John B. You should not humble yourself to the likes of Jim Sloey. LMAO I know his brothers will be there and that means 2/3 of the Sloey clan will represent. Anyhow this message is to anyone who attended the 1969 40th. Take some time and go to the picnic. Last year was a great time for everyone. Good music, food and most of all a bunch of Cougars. Everytime we have an event it seems to grow in attendance. And if you missed our reunion, you have a chance to redeem yourself. Hope to see everyone on Saturday, Wayne

Message: OK, it's time to talk PICNIC. BE THERE OR BE SQUARE. No, really! The B girls will arrive early to set up and we will have the traditional CT Tshirts for sale as well as memberships and all that jazz. But the most important thing to get at ANY CT event, is the journey back in time with wonderful old friends, fantastic new ones, and a day full of laughs and fun. This event is for locals and out of towners - Sis and I have had the chance to meet so many great folks who have posted up here over the years and those things are priceless. THAT part won't cost you a thing. Just found out tonite that dear old friend and classmate Carol Fischler (ASB pres) is coming to meet up with me - her little sis Carmen and mine have been best buds all these years along with Patty Valencia's little sis Gloria and a number of other little sisters. That has allowed us big sisters to keep track of each other and Patty, get your butt in the car and get to El Segundo Sat. We'll be the cuties in the park wearing red and yellow. You NEED to join this shindig - Carol's asked for you! And Jeff Pieters - come on by! And yes, the dessert contest will commence - Sharon may like my rum cake but I think there's someone out there who has the recipe for HHS Heavenly Chocolate Cake - come on down!! The weather will be good, the Jensen Boys are coming, I'm looking for sweet Judy and Janny, some Rowdy girls are expected and I'm hoping for some surprise guests. Remember, we're all family there. I'd love to get your RSVP on this site!! See you Saturday!!!!

Message: Hey SC, UCLA & CAL fans, whose sitting atop the PAC10 these days? Might it be the Stanford Sequoia, the land of the Cardinal and homely tree mascot? Did anyone see that coming? I guess it is time for the next top runner to go to Oregon and blow their season, but my hunch after seeing the best Stanford defense since the 71 Thunder Chickens and some good Mid-Western hard running by Toby Gerhart is these guys can play. Look for a 3 or 4 way race to the finish and the Stanford Sequoia will be there in the end, along with SC, Oregon and one other team.

Message: Many of you have been following the Tim Thomas saga. Timmy was an all CIF football player and an all world friend to many of us. Timmy laid down his life in February 1968 in Vietnam fighting for his country. Three years ago I noticed that someone was wearing his jersey after it was retired in 1968 at the memorial center in a memorial before a packed house. Coach Chauncey said from that day forward nobody would wear #23. Right Otto!? Well it has been retired again and a locker set aside for Tim. An offer was made to pay tribute to Tim at the homecoming game in November. It is the opinion of myself and the many friends of Tim that I discussed this offer that the 1968 memorial was perfect. That night should not be spoiled by another. Those of us who knew Timmy and called him friend will always remember that tribute. Therefore a decision was made to decline Principal Newell's offer. We are pleased with efforts of Principal Newell and Bramlett in getting it right. I applaud you for your efforts. God Bless you Timmy.

Message: I heard there's a CONTEST for everyone coming to the picnic on Oct 10 - a dessert contest - bring enough for small samples for everyone- if you think you can make a better dessert than Sue Bierman King's FABULOUS RUM CAKE then BRING IT ON!!! That RUM CAKE is the best dessert I have ever had BAR NONE!!! I'm a chocolate lover but I'll take Sue's rum cake over any chocolate dessert every time!!!!! I make a pretty mean pineapple upside down cake (Not as good as Sue's RUM CAKE) but good enough for second place, for sure. So a challenge to all of you picnickers - bring a homemade dessert, ENOUGH TO SHARE SMALL SAMPLES so we can have a vote - and just TRY to knock the B girls out of first and second place!!!!
