Message: Hey, John Boy; Just got back in town and was going through the Feedback threads and saw Jodi Weller's post. Hey, Jodi girl, are you the same jodi that used to work for Tom Wadman at the "Block & Tackle" on Inglewood Av?, if so here's a big shout out from an old friend. I spent many hours at that place with the likes of John Nix, Tom Barnett, Richie Tews, Richard Thomas, Ron Edie, and many other memorables. We also frequented the "Hatch Cover" in Manhattan Beach. Here's a question that may start some stories, how many HHS'ers used to hit Manhattan Beach on Friday nights (or any other nite) and start out at the "Hatch Cover", then transition to what we used to refer to as the golden triangle, Cisco's, The Blue Book & The Frigate and if you got bored, Pancho's which was across from Cisco's if my memory is correct. Spent some memorable times at all of these places. I think Gary Mykkanen used to be a bouncer at Cisco's and would let us in without paying the cover.
Memorable places there boy. Didn't the Block and Tackle have some Piranhas in the tank behind the bar?

Message: It is with a heavy heart that I report another loss for the class of '66. Our buddy and friend Dave Hobart passed away yesterday after a short illness. Dave leaves behind his 2 sisters, Mary and Susan, innumerable friends, [this is an oxymoron because if you knew or even met Dave, you liked him] and the Darryls. I can say that I have never heard anyone say an unkind word about Dave and the reverse is even more true. Our prayers are with his sisters as their loss is the greatest but we have all suffered a loss of no minor proportions. God Bless us all!
Always tough to lose our Cougar friends, Jim. Thanks for letting us know.

Message: We, the class of '59, had our 50 Year Reunion last Saturday night and it was great!! Almost 180 people came to celebrate. The Ayres Hotel I highly recommend for future reunions. The food was wonderful, the hotel is beautiful and very accommodating, and everything seemed to go well. If any of you who attended have photos of the event, please send them to me, download them to me through email or send me the copies or CDs so I can include them in the booklet and CD. Please add names if and where possible. Thanks to all those who attended for making this a very special night. HHS Cougars are the best!!
Hi Karen, So glad this one turned out well. I know it was a little "iffy" at times. Thanks for all you do for the Class of 59.

Yours is still one of the faces I reconnected with that makes me smile biggest. Don't forget to wear your Cougar gear! XOXO

Message: Hey classes of '68,'69,&'70...it's time to make the commitment to attend the class of '69s 40th reunion. This event is only 90 days away and our reunion committee has been footing the bill on all of this so far. It's hard to make plans when you don't know how many to plan for. Everyone has special people in their lives that they haven't seen in 5, 10, or even 40 years. I could be wrong but I believe we are one of the few classes who has had a reunion every five years ever since we graduated. You might even surprise yourselves and end up having the time of your life. We are not getting any younger and we should all be grateful for every reunion we are able to attend. Okay - that's my two cents worth. Hope to see you all in August. P.S. Hey JB - maybe the August Cruise Night could also be held on the 22nd? Just a thought.
Hi Anita, Good thought and actually have been thinking of having a Friday night Cruise Night on the 21st to coincide with your reunion and the 79-80 reunion.

Message: Just checking in! Class of "69" getting ready for their 40 year reunion in August. Let's try to make this the best reunion yet. To those who haven't gone before, you are missing a great time. GOOD MEMORIES. Don't let your life go by without going and having a good time. Spending time with old friends is pricelees. Re-live your years at HHS. That's enough about the reunion. Now, what about the new TV series called "HAWTHORNE". Was reading in the paper about another series called "COUGARTOWN". John are you an advisor for that one? For some reason I believe it has nothing to do with HHS. Just my 2 cents!
Hey Wayne, Not an advisor and I may be a little old for the Cougars on that show Do NOT miss your reunions folks. It's worth going just to see Wayne play the accordion.

Message: I feel I owe Bob Risner a huge public apology for my failure to acknowledge his part in the South Bay Wolverines. Initially, it was Bob Risner and Bruce Salisbury that started the soccer team. I was recruited by those two. Bruce, I am almost certain it was Bob that found coach Haugh. And Bob, it was your team spirit that allowed you to accept Bruce as the first team captain and remain with the team, even though you were equally instrumental in the creation of the team. Bruce, it was again your team spirit that allowed Juan Paulo to take over as team captain, and again remain loyal to the team. What a wonderful example for a 16 year old "kid"! On this Memorial Day weekend, I also want to remember those who went off to serve our country in the armed forces, and did not return. There is no way I could possibly thank those heroes in a proper fashion. On Monday, remember why you have the day off. And thanks to John Baker for this great Cougartown website.
Thanks Jack, and let's also thank those that did come home. Your sacrifice is our freedom.

Message: As Memorial Day approaches, it is time to pause and consider the true meaning of this holiday. Memorial Day represents one day of national awareness and reverence, honoring those Americans who died while defending our Nation and its values. While we should honor these heroes every day for the profound contribution they have made to securing our Nation's freedom, we should honor them especially on Memorial Day. Have a Great Memorial Weekend Cougars.
Didn't Bill Clinton or George W. say that? Anyway, thanks Michael for the sentiment.
