Message: I am so sorry to hear of Ellen Prongue Baldwin's passing. Ellen and her family (Harry, David, Nancy and their mom and dad) were my neighbors growing up, me on Cranbrook and they on Kornblum. I noticed while trying to locate my childhood friend Harry Prongue (66) that he had passed away last August. All my best to the Prongue and Baldwin families.

Message: Welcome back Baker Man! It was all I could do to keep from calling you on your cell to get my little CT fix! Geez, I had to actually ACCOMPLISH stuff! Hope your vacation was a good one - you deserve some time off. Now it's back to the grind until the next party....oh, and just paid the dues via PayPal. Doesn't get easier than that! Thanks for another year of fun and love. XO
Well thank you Sue for the dues and thanks too for the article stating that out of the top 1500 high schools in the nation, a Hawthorne specialty high school ranks 56th. Very nice news for our City of Good Neighbors.

Message: Welcome home, John! I missed my daily dose of Cougartown so much!! Your vacation has reminded me just how much I love checking in to Cougartown and what's happening with everyone. We have a new (old) car in the family- 1993 Ruby Red Corvette (Mike FINALLY gets a toy!) and a new puppy. So please don't ever go away again because apparently when you do, the universe loses its mind! xoxoxo
Hey Sharon, Tell Mike I want to borrow the car. Another trip planned down Route 66. Thanks too for the Ctown dues, girl.

Message: Hey John, I was looking for the price of dues this year? Also with all the time and effort you put into making Cougartown what it is, I hope that we at least bought you a beer while you were on vacation!
Hi Brian, Cougartown dues are 10 dollars a year and with all the free wine in Sonoma there was no time for a beer

Message: John welcome back. Little good news and bad news to you all that knew my mom, because of the brother or sister. We found out this week that she has lung cancer and it is in the final stages so the Doctors say please keep her in your prayers. Then both of my sons tell us that we are going to grandparents again. We think one each, great. Well last night my youngest son and his wife and two kids come over and break the news... twins (girls), so we have gone from three to six grandkids in one fine step. Have a good week all, Art
Hey Art, Congrats on the new grandkids and we'll keep your mom in our prayers.

Message: I see how you are John. You just get back from gallivanting all over the West Coast, spending money like there's no tomorrow, and then start pimping out the Cougartown Dues scheme. Well I'm not buying into it anymore. .......Well..... Maybe just one more time. I don't need that Karma deal hanging over my head. Thanks again, Dude!
Hey Alan, not exacting gallivanting, just a little wanderlusting and as far as spending money is concerned, no one would let me buy a thing. Thanks all you Nor Cal Cougs for the great week and thanks again Alan for the Cougartown dues.

Message: So John were you really up north visiting or were you making a cameo appearance on the new TV series, Hawthorne? I had a Cougar sighting on Saturday at LAX. As I was walking through the metal detector the security guy noticed my Cougartown Tshirt. He asked if that was for Hawthorne High School. I said yes and that I was the class of 74. He replied he was the class of 2000. I told him to go to cougartown.com. I didn?t get his name. I thought about going over and asking him but thought I might be shot if I approached a security guard from behind. Later as I was exiting the plane I heard what is Cougartown.com? I explained that it was a website for HHS alumni. The person replied that they thought it was a site for hot older women. It's that too, I replied.
Yeah we do have those too, but maybe we should just stick with the alumni thing for now Thanks Matt for the sighting.

Message: Just want to thank the committee for a fun 50 year reunion bash! It was unbelievable how many attended and how much fun we all had! The Ayers Hotel was a perfect place and everything looked so beautiful and the buffet had scrumptious food........It was just so good to see so many people that I hadn't seen in so many years and how easy it was to just pick up where we left off!!!Thanks again and here is to our 55th!!!
This must've been a real "Barn Burner" of a reunion. Thanks to all who attended this one and a special thanks goes out to the 59 Reunion Committee. You all did a great job and I know for a fact that Karen Graham Kuehl worked especially hard, turning over stones, looking for every last 59er she could possibly find. Special reunions come from VERY special committees and this one did an excellent job...Thanks again

Message: I just read the post by Anita Harmon....blew me away, was my favorite cousin and can remember all the time we spent watching The Monkeys TV show lol As she was older and in high school and I was in grade school. Anita, my email address is hollywoodnow2003@yahoo.com, I would have been class of 73 at HHS, my parents moved so graduated my sophmore year from Wilson High in Long Beach. I went to Hawthorne High proms and dances, even our 10 year reunion, as all my friends were at HHS. Went to the backwards dance with Karen Stoltz, hung out with Cheryl Levis, Lissete Ellenberger, Gayla and Cheryl Crownover, who we lost at such a young age...... Rochelle Dors well that whole family but the girls and I would go to Red Onion or Cassidys every weekend. I remember alot of guys asking how did I get all these pretty girls around me lol, well actually I was quite harmless to them and we loved to party! I will let you read into that lol ..........I had open heart surgery last April, quad bipass, was quite a deal..but with medications doing fine now. No more partying for me lol I read alot of posts, too many to respond to right now. Has anyone heard from Gary Botelho? We hung out alot and did ski trips and camping with the Botelhos. Hope to hear from you Anita and thanks to the lady I ran into a couple months back.

Message: Hey George Key! Remember that tie that Drill Team gave you upon your retirement? MY MOTHER made it. I think it was a bow tie. My sister Mariza the Cougar brought home that project. It was made with LOVE and PRIDE. I have a question for all of you Cougar gals...how long did it take you to make those beehive hairdo's behave? The late Dusty Springfield was reported to have said she was responsible for the hole in the ozone layer (all that hairspray). I remember babysitters in the early '70s trying to get ME to sit for teasing hair (poofy pageboy look). I hated the wait, but loved the look. It seemed forever; it was 3rd grade. Still an Olympian, Kris (Ripley) Hayhurst '82

Message: I had a new experience today. It is called retirement. It was bittersweet leaving my job, and I don't think my life will feel different until Monday morning when I don't have to get up and go to work and know that I do not have to do it ever again. In two weeks I will be on my way to a new life, and newly built home in Coos Bay, Oregon. I will be living next door to my brother Robert DeWald, class of '66. No other neighbors, except my niece, no noise. Just life in a peaceful, beautiful forest.
Happy retirement Connie and tell Bob, John says hey.

Message: Wall Street Journal, Thursday May 28, 2009. Obama vs. The Beach Boys... The article talks about the big muscle cars of the past & the many songs written about them & what we will be driving in the future... The best line in the article...It's 2016. Imaging a Brian Wilson ever thinking to write. "And she'll have fun, fun, fun til her daddy takes her Prius away"... too funny! too sad!
Hey Mike, Don't be sad, there will always be Tbirds.

Message: Dave?s passing is not only felt by his Hawthorne family, but by the many he befriended while living in Bandon by the Sea Oregon. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to reminisce and recall Dave?s gentle nature and somewhat subliminal humor with one of Bandon?s native sons. Dave traveled regularly to our annual Humbug campout and crab feed near Port Orford and it won?t be the same without him. The morning after such an event, with a double large stack piled in front of him, Dave brought the group to tears of laughter with a soft smile and the simple declaration, ?Ya Know, you just can?t get too many pancakes.? Rest in peace brother.

Message: The committee for the Class of 59 reunion, Peg, Hilda, Karen, Nick and I thank all of you attendees for our reunion. All our work was well worth it. We missed those that didn't make it (where were you Jody Halberg?) It was a great gathering and celebration for our 50th. We had people there that we'd not seen for 50 years! We're already talking about the 55th. It will be easy. Help us keep up our data base and let us know if you move. Again, we remain your committee. Cathy
Thanks Kathy, Reunions are just great, aren't they. Glad you had a fun time. Now if we could just get the class of 99 to add their information. Calvin Sparks, where are you?

Message: Yes I am the same Jody that worked all (3) of Tom Wadman's bars. My favorite was the Block & Tackle for Pitcher Nite. I always called John Nix my little brother. His family lived one door from us on Sundale. When we were little you never saw just one of us, it was always the four of us, John, Judy, Jody & Charlie Quad Trouble. Great time was had by all Saturday at our 50 year reunion.
Yes I heard those 59ers CAN PARTY!! Saw John Nix last year at Dennis Campbell's place. He still looks the same as his HHS days.
