Message: Well, I guess you could say I had a Mother's Day that I won't likely forget (at least not for some time anyway). My daughter and son in-law informed me today that in about seven months I am going to become a Grandmother for the first time. While I am thrilled for them, I seem to be having a bit of a time letting this all sink in with me. Grandmother...really? Oh well, looks like I will have to re-educate myself now on how all this new baby paraphernalia works. Hope every mother and grandmother had a wonderful day today.
Congratulations Anita, Just enjoy it. Grandkids are lots of fun and someone else changes diapers

Message: Ran into a guy name Bill from Manhattan Beach who is friends with Chuck Currie from the class of 1964. I told him I'm from Hawthorne and use to hang out at 26th street in Manhattan Beach. We got on the subject of the park at 26th street, he told me a story about "Bruce's Beach" the name of the park now. Boy! I learn something everyday.

Message: Congratulations Janny Wanny and Judy Wudy!!!! Judy, call me! P.S. I think I had a Cougar sighting yesterday at Bella Terra Mall in Huntington Beach. I was wearing my CT T-shirt. As I walked away from the Cheesecake Factory with my honking 20 pound, low-carb splenda cheesecake, I heard someone yell Hawthorne High School. I turned around to see a guy in a van giving me the thumbs up. I thumbed back and he turned the corner never to be seen again. If he is here on CT, please let me know who you are.
Thanks Sharon, The Cougartown Tshirts are a great way to find Cougars. ALWAYS wear them!!
Speaking of Cougartown Tshirts, I was getting complaints that we didn't have any in your size and now we're stocked up. Just click on the Cougartown Store button on the navigation bar, above. It's Tshirt weather, Cougs.

Message: It?s a wonderful life. I remember my Grandma LaTendresse telling me all about her life growing up. She traveled from Missouri to Kansas by covered wagon (yes, they did go into a circle every night but to keep the animals in and not to keep the Indians out). Getting electric lights in the house, indoor plumbing, the advent of the radio, getting a new Dodge in 1920, seeing Amelia Earhart?s aircraft, world wars, television, pantyhose, and then a man on the moon. This story was told in 1969 and she could not wait to see what would happen during the rest of her life. She passed away in 1987 at the age of 94 and you can imagine what happened between 1969 and 1987. I am sitting here at 36,000 feet somewhere over the US and sending this message via my IPOD. They now have WiFi on the aircraft. I can?t wait to see what technology brings in the next 30 years. Hey Sue King, can you explain how this IPOD thing works? Jim Peppers, I?ll be in Athens on May 23rd hope to have a Cougar sighting.
Hey Bob, Thanks and yes, we've come a ways since covered wagons.

Message: Picture it... Maui, 2000. A young, innocent virgin goes to Hawaii with a Danish Prince that's trying to win her over. They party with friends every night..sight see every day..and walk on the beach every morning..eat roast pig...watch the sunsets ..and then he asks her to marry him and become rich and famous. The innocent maiden say yes and the rest is history....... Happy Anniversary Howard Noodleman. I married my lover, my best friend and the sweetest man I ever met 9 years ago today. BTW, I made up the part about being rich and famous. I love you Janny. (John, aren't you proud of me for not bringing up that night that you "borrowed" 2 bottles of gin from the Star Market and could have gotten us put in the Hawaiian jail.. where you would have had to be roommates with Big Homonukopoiluanna?)
Yes, thanks for not mentioning that part.
Young Innocent Virgin??!! Yeah and Bin Laden was an innocent bystander.
A very Happy Anniversary to Judy and Janny. It really doesn't seem like 9 years ago.

Message: I have many fond memories of Mister Gore. He was not only my football coach but also my Government teacher. We once had an assignment that required us to produce a totally new country complete with population density, form of government, imports and exports, the complete package. Now I?m not sure if Mister Gore was not pleased that I fashioned a benevolent dictatorship of which I was the Supreme Leader or the fact that I called it Gorevania. In either case his inscription in my El Molino still brightly declares, ?To bad we couldn?t use you again next year in football ? However, in Gov. I?m glad you?re a Senior. I hope he finds the magic of Cougartown soon.
Great story Jer', thanks for that one.

Message: OK - Quasi-Cougar Sighting! I'm up here in San Luis Obispo filling in this week and I did NOT set up any mini-reunions. (Should have - Greg Goode how far are you from here?) Anyway, was talking with one of the employees and somehow living in the South Bay came around (HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN???), I mentioned HHS, she is an Aviation Alum (c/o 72)and voila! It happens! She is former HHS Coach Gore's daughter Keri. As I understand it he coached football and wrestling... Small darn world it is.....I have pointed her and through her, her dad, to CT and hope they both show up and post up. They were good friends of Chaunceys and Fixes and others and it sounds like they have been disconnected for years. But through the magic of Cougartown, they CAN come home again.....Coach and Keri, are you out there? I suspect the 60's kids knew the coach and I think he left in 70's. I remember him and will look in my yearbooks when I get home. Anyone with any memories?
Good one Sue but just don't remember a Coach Gore. I know Coach Semon, Graves and Reagan had baseball in the late 60s and maybe early 70s and then Coach Minami was in there somewhere. I'm sure someone knows. Thanks Sue for passing the word.

Hi Terry, Although Cougar sightings are face-to-face, sounds to me like you may have seen an old friend. Thanks for the report.

Message: Rick, to respond to your question about moving your daughter to a new school in her senior year have you asked her what she wants? The summer before Junior and Senior year my parents moved to Orange County, they thought I would be happy to move to a much larger house. Well when I heard that it was 30 miles from Hawthorne and I would have to leave all my friends, boyfriend, and all of the activities I pitched a fit. Fortunately my Aunt and Uncle lived next door to us so they we kind enough to let me live with them our senior year. After highschool I moved to OC and went to college there. That worked out well for me. I swore I would never move my children but be careful what you say - when my oldest son was between Freshman and Soph year my husband was transfered from Boeing Long Beach to Everett WA so up we came and settled in Mukilteo - my son had a rough few months but quickly settled into the beautiful area and now tells me he would never live anywhere else - we didn't give him a choice and it worked out well I guess the bottom line is go with your gut and I'm sure your daughter will succeed if she has you and her mom behind her! Good to see you up in WA thought I was the only 75er here! Heather
