Message: The newer picture of St. Josephs Catholic Church reminded me of when that structure was almost finished Richard Gahlbeck and I climbed that tower (on the inside there is a steel ladder up the wall to the bellfry area) and Rich & I climbed up & out and were 'amazed' by the view. We could see all over Hawthorne (or so it seemed). Since we did this before the sun went down we also worried the passing motorists below could see us and might call the cops as we tried to hide behind the corner columns. I guess after five minutes we decided to climb down again through the tower and the smell of wet cement. We exited and rode away on our bicycles all excited with our new perspective from up there. I told my Mom about it and she wasn't pleased to say the least.

Message: Visiting my friend in Ojai and she has a computer, so I thought I would visit my friends on Cougartown. I plan on getting back on the Internet by Feb. Thank you Larry Bach for announcing on Cougartown & letting those of you out there who knew by Dad about his passing a week before Thanksgiving. I miss him, but he went in peace and left me lasting memories I'll cherish forever. Hope all out there had a Merry Merry and a Happy New Year, continued with blessings throughout 2009. Hope to make it to a few Cougar Outings this year. Haven't had a chance to catch up on feedback and plan to now. God bless ya everyone ...

Message: JB, Sloey, the Sooners need an offensive co-ordinator. The Gators were good, but without an explosive offense, the Sooners were laters when it came to scoring. They waited and waited instead of seizing the opportunity to score. Now, how many Cougs would be interested in getting back together for the golf tourney? We need at least 40 players. I was thinking we could use this opportunity to help raise more money for the HHS's Athletic Fund. Need to know by the end of the month.

Message: Just wanted to give you an update JB and the other Cougs who know us, Jude's doing well. Got back from the Doc., a week late going to the Doc because of a snow storm leaving a drift on our road 4' deep and 50' long and wide! Couldn't move until our neighbor got his "bobcat" out. A little skip loader to most of you that don't know the lingo. But she's doing well. Can't put any weight on her leg for another 3-5 weeks because of the severity of the break. But She's tough, kind of like that old song from the 50's " she's so tough" by the Cuff Links or maybe Lynx, can't remember exactly which. But she's on the mend and sitting here, in her wheelchair, watching eveything I write. By the way Alan Nelson, your poem was a true classic. We loved it. A tremendous addition to the C-Town legacy. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU ALL. Jake N Jude.

Albertsonscp.com, Ralphs.com, and escrip.com (Vons) programs are vital to Cougartown's continued support of HHS programs. If you shop at any of those stores PLEASE sign up your card number to support HHS. It will only take a few minutes of time on your computer and it will not cost you a single dime!

The GEAR Foundation is a noble cause and is worthy of our support so if you need a charity make them yours. Many Biermans in the Midwest and I think I met at least half of them at the wedding of Nathan Bierman and his beautiful bride Kelly. Told everyone I met that I grew up in Hawthorne and they were all green with envy. I did take time to visit dear old Jack Daniel's place. Happy New Year to all Cougartowners everywhere, especially you, dear John. I could never top Alan's or Sue's prose so I'll just say God Bless Us, Every One.

Hey?weren?t you going to help me pay to get those windows repaired?? Wow, so you are in New York City?..do you have an accent now? Message: I cheated and called my Uncle Robert (DeWald) to ask him the name of the Wich Stand bar. He couldn't remember but, he did share his first time going to The Wich Stand. He was about 12 and my parents were on a date. He remembered everything about my dad's truck. He's a car guy for sure. Anyway, my dad got him a cherry lime Ricky and after a while asked him if he could feel it? Did he feel funny? My dad had him convinced that there was alcohol in it! He really had him going. He shared cars he remembered from there. Like the Mag Monster (I think). A green, 62 Impala. There were more details of course. I shared a couple of recent posts from guys he may have known, Dick Dixon whom he remembered and who was the other guy on this page, class of 63. I'd have to look, the name was familiar to him though. He sure did have a lot car stories. He's one of you guys no doubt.

Message: Bill Cook, I lived down the street from you from 1959-1964. Your sister Barbara used to guard us when my parents went out. I say guard because my brother and I used to slip out the back door and go through the vacant lots and over the fences to Stan the Postman's house and then out to the street and Hawthorne Intermediate. We traveled through your back yard and the old boat you had back there made for a good hiding place from parents and police. We use to play football in your front yard. I learned a lot from you and the Wolverton's, Tommy Long, Ron Petch, The Anderson's, Pat Burris and your sister about HHS. You were one, along with those mentioned, who took the time to work with and coach us kids. Hey Jim Pasternak, ask your new friend Bob about his younger brother Phil. He and my brother Kirk played ball together, and his Dad, Joe. He use to umpire our games at HALL and HAML. I told Bruce you said hey and he'll be communicating with you soon. Great memories from Bill and Jim. Thanks. JB Happy New Year to you and all Coug's
