Message: OK John I am very much anxious to consign most of 2008 to the tightly-locked drawers of repressed memory, but I have to admit the year definitely began to pick up towards the end and also that your website is the exquisite frame for wide-open-drawer reminders of what the best years of our lives were like and can on occasion be like even now, so THANNNK YOU MAAANNN!!!... And to all of you Trojan sympathizers, sincere good luck in the Rose Bowl, Fight On and all that but get ready for autumn when my quixotic and existential Bruins of UCLA, my own sorta alma step-mater, start gutting it up for Neuheisel, a Bruin who knows how to win in Pasadena in January (I saw him do it once, anyway, a quarter of a century ago--I'm sure he can do it again, because lightening strikes twice, doesn't it?), and begin to Fight Back! Peace and boat drinks to all Cougs and lurking Olympians too...joseph.

Message: I got a call from a friend that the Daily Breeze had a story on the SS Catalina being destroyed in Mexico. The private investor was my uncle Bernie Pasch who had bought it and tried to make it into something.

Message: Today, Dec. 28th, marks the day Beach Boy, HHS'er, Dennis Wilson bid farewell in his untimely death. I for one as his classmate (typing class), friend and racing buddy, recall the shock of 'our' loss with his passing. I'm sure many HHS classmates and fans recall the day too well. May we reflect and celebrate on his good for the world with the music he and the Beach Boy's share with us to this day. God bless ya Denny (also Carl Wilson).

Message: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Cougartown! Wonderful poem Alan - nice tribute to a great Guy - King John. We had family here - Aunt Ricki, Uncle Jim, Aunt Gloria, Uncle John Achrem - and all of the nieces (Alexa, Kristin, Lia, Allie) and nephew (Peter). Except for Uncle Jim and all of the kids, we grew up in Hawthorne, but remember it through Cougartown - your creation, but our neighborhood. Our virtual childhood - THANK YOU for giving us our greatest memories in a 3D neighborhood with our school friends and our community preserved in a 360 degree panorama. Love you man......

Message: Twas the night before Christmas and all through CT Not a creature was stirring, except for JB.
The T-shirts were packed in their boxes with care With all hope that Fed Ex would get them all there.
The Cougars were nestled all snug in their beds While old Beach Boys lyrics sang loud in their heads.
With John in his sweater, the letterman kind, He checked into Feedback for what he would find.
When what to his wondrous eyes should appear, But dozens of entries from friends far and near.
Greetings from Cougars across this great land Old students from Football and Chorus and Band.
Cheerleaders, Swimmers, and Wrestlers they were, The Surfers and Hodads and Cruisers were here.
All those bringing wishes for John and this site Brought tears to his eyes on this glorious night.
The Biermans and Sloeys and Greasbys abound, And Paco, El Rojo and the rest were around.
Others may read and not post, I would think, Except when Dan Johnson promotes ?Which One?s Pink?.
And let?s not forget the Valencia 7 Who?s friendship makes John feel like he?s in Heaven.
Now some other Schools just remember their past But what JB?s done is really a blast
While other alumni might just feel down John Baker has blessed us with this CougarTown.
So remember your family and close friends, this Yule, But just as important. ?Be True To Your School?

Message: Isn't it wonderful that we have so many beautiful memories of our childhood Christmases? Mom used to put up lots of lights on our home. Then, my mom would put the record player out on the front porch every night of Christmas, and crank up the volume of holiday music. It could get embarrassing for me, but no one ever complained. We had to have our Whitman's Sampler candies on Christmas Day. I would get so excited over all the gifts every year, and eating, and playing, that I would end up sick in bed by afternoon. I loved my dolls. And there was the set of 12 different colored plastic bells with numbers on them, and sheet music, to play them. So much fun. I always had new jammies. I can't forget the year I got my first bike. Huffy. Thanks mom, thanks dad. Merry Christmas to all. And a big hug to you, John, for helping keep our Hawthorne alive!

Message: It's been quite a while since I have have visited C-Town and we would like to wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season. Cougar sighting this week as I was leaving a clients office, the UPS man wheeling a cart of packages down the corridor was none other than Fred Babinski, HHS class of 73. Had dinner in Seattle last week with Dave Butner and Rick Clendaniel both fellow 74 grads, both are doing great and Dave is preparing to release his first vintage as a professional wine maker in 09 with his Paragon Winery line up, it's fantastic juice across the board. Peace and joy to all.

Message: I'd like to wish all a very merry xmas. Here is a thought for all. 40 years ago the year was 1968. It was not a very good year we wondered what was wrong with the world and our country. Here it is 2008 once again we wonder what's wrong with the world and our country. In 68 we ended the year on a high note with man circling the moon for the first time. I remember that feeling of hope sitting there with my family watching it on tv. Now we have a new leader and there is a light of hope again. If we have a job, our family is in good health let us count our blessings. Start the new year with a little more kindness to others and be good to ourselves.
