Message: Hi John, here is the finished version of the Slide Presentation that you saw at our class of 74 40th Reunion this past summer. Sorry it took so long to complete, I threw everything but the kitchen sink in it, as it is 43 minutes long with almost 1,000 images, but i think the HHS Cougartown nation will enjoy watching it, this slide show that documents a wonderful time in our lives, Merry Christmas and i hope that you like it!
Well thank you Mike. I know how much time it took to do this and know your class will appreciate it too. Jerry, can you please add this to our video page?
In watching this entire piece, I have to say it is an outstanding video. Knowing only about 8 people in this video, it really doesn't matter which class you come from, it's the same backdrop...just add your own class members. This video will speak to you no matter when you graduated. Thanks again Mike and a Special thanks to Tim Long for taking and caring for most of these treasures over the last 40 years. The members of the Class of 74 should be very proud. You've made me very proud to be a Cougar today.

Message: There's still time to help the Hawthorne VFW with our fundraiser to repair our roof. Friday night is the drawing for four Disney tickets. See the banner at the top of the Feedback page. A special thanks to Glen Crist who purchased a huge number of tickets last night. If you want tickets and cannot make it to the Post...call me at home (310- 891-2375) and Judy and I will secure some tickets for you. And I will be holding you to your promise of sending in your money. You gamble - you pay! Thanks to all who have help support the Post. Jan

Message: Hi Sid, Just wanted to mention that we rec'd a call from Glenn Crist last night with a big donation for the campaign to repair the Haw VFW roof. We reminded him that we appreciated his donation but we'd give him his money's worth in Disneyland raffle tickets. I hope you all realize that the winner gets "4 primo tickets for both parks, (PARK HOPPER to California Adventure & the theme park.)" That's over a $600.00 first prize and there's no expiration date. The raffle is this Friday evening and you don't have to attend to win. If you're interested, please call at (310) 891-2375 or check out the banner flyer on top of the feedback page in CT for more info. I have my two cents bought in tickets, but that's an oxymoron. If I win, I'll be giving first prize to the second ticket drawn.. so there's 2 ways to win. and I'll even kiss yah! (how's that for marketing Sidney.) New note: No VFW breakfast this month, but back again in January. So, Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas - take your pick - It's all about the FREEDOM to say what you feel either way or say nothing at all. I've covered everyone now... whew, Christmas use to be a whole lot easier.
Thanks Til, Great giveaway for some lucky person. I remember when a family of 4 could get in for a short 20 bucks. Thanks too, to Glenn for coming through for the good ol' VFW.

Janet thanks for preventing a drawn out protracted answer to JB on what I can and cant do Now Carl...how long have you been an SEC guy? I am sorry the Beavers of Silo Tech. can't tie the Ducks shoelaces, but they will need more than a new coach. And poor Nebraska ends up with the walking Valium OSU used to have. Well I better go practice my squats so I can back up the talk..later Cougs and GO DUCKS!
Enjoy the O talk now Robin because USC gets a full scholarship complement next year. All those So Cal "Heisman-type" players will be staying home in the future. Happy Birthday dude.

Message: I want to wish all fellow Cougars a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. The last two years have been challenging for me and my family as we have lost the last of our parents (mine and my wife's). Anyway, I guess that comes with the territory of passing 60 years of age and now there are new challenges (e.g., "squatting" according to Chris Hood for example! lol). Anyway, all the best to everyone and enjoy this year end. All these California rainstorms suggest that we will have better times ahead. The hills behind my house are green and that is a pretty nice sight. All the best- Dean Morris
Hi Dean, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. Keep the squats going and go Cardinal!!

Message: Happy Birthday to my big brother Robin Hood (Butch). It seems like only yesterday that I was chucking strikes to you in the front yard. Then somehow while playing the game, a half century blew by. I'm sure if you could just squat, that you could still take the heat that is, if I could still throw a ball 60 feet. Have a great day bro!
Hey Old Timer, Happy Birthday. Can you still squat?

Message: My Collins Street Bakery Fruitcake arrived today. Thank you Santa for the early gift. I hope it lasts long enough for the bowl games. SEC is looking strong. But wait until next year when Coach Bielema at Arkansas turns things upside down in SEC. With the Oregon Beavers new football coach, maybe, just maybe, we will be competitive again. I will be looking forward to read posts on Ctown from all the Cougars that will be going to the Rose Bowl. Go Noles!

Message: FYI: the City of Hawthorne's TV station could be a tremendous source of free publicity. I can picture band spots. Interviews. Clips of athletic events. Cougar Booster Club would support all athletics, not just football. A Band Booster Club also has unlimited fund raising potential. Board of Directors for each. Push the motto "It's a Great Day to be a Cougar." Good Luck!
Another good idea Mary Ann, thanks again.

Message: Great ideas! An free auctioneer really helps. Silent auction items on donated items - such as college autographed footballs - can be money makers, as well as larger items such as four wheelers, golf carts, good seats for pro or college athletic games, flat screen tvs. etc. Can you believe $750 won a reserved season's parking space right next to the entrance gate where I live? Big bucks in getting your kid to be game captain for a game or cheerleader for a game. Then, you can win the right to design a play to be used in a game or to sit in the press box for an HHS game. Throw in a $20 ticket which includes a guest speaker and(food donated) nice meal at a school cafeteria and with lots of advertising, you're looking at $20,000 plus. It takes a lot of hard work and the athletes MUST be involved - picking up donations, serving food and beverages, set up and clean up - you name it. It works and is a ton of fun!
Yes I would say whatever we do, the band members will be involved. Thanks Mary Ann for more great ideas.

Message: John, HHS is lucky to have you and Cougartown as a way to reach out to alumni for fundraising. Thank you for being here. You have options. You can just ask us to donate funds and the same alumni who always support these drives will chip in what they can or you can put some "fun" back in fundraising by organizing an event that will attract some who do not often contribute. My children all chose to go to parochial high schools that depend on fund raising to keep their doors open plus fund extracurricular sports and arts. They do both. On top of tuition, they asked us to pledge a "gift" AND they ran golf tournaments, casino nights, parent proms, Christmas dinners and many other fundraising events. Both Loyola HS and Notre Dame Academy let us use school facilities to run events so that we did not have overhead to a hotel. Would HHS permit you use of the new, beautiful cafeteria for a casino night/silent auction/raffle type event? People would have fun and could walk away knowing they had helped their alma mater. Just sayin.....
Hi Linda, These are all great ideas and will ask the powers at HHS if this is possible. I will let you know and thanks very much for your help.
