Message: Imperial Bowl. Another memory from the past. My husband grew up in El Segundo and we used to go there to eat and also to play snooker. I loved snooker but haven't played it since those days. I was a terrible bowler so didn't do that much.

Message: Cougar sighting! My mom, Jeanne Millman Swoboda who taught first grade at Ramona for 30 years asked me to take her to run errands today. I picked her up at her retirement home in P. V. and took her to B of A for banking and then to the P.V library behind Peninsula Center. After looking for her book we were on the way out and I saw the library had a gift shop. I asked my mom to give me a minute to check it out. As I walked in the woman behind the counter looked up and I said "Laura Geele Wang, how are you!?" Laura is HHS76 and was in my third grade class at York with Mars Parks. She was my square dance partner in '67 and was the cute little blonde all the boys had a crush on. Her husband is David Wang(HHS '75) but he wasn't around to secure a double sighting for me. JB if you DQ this one because I found someone in Southern California I'll retire from stalking. Don't you dare! The Cougar stalker lives!!
Clark, this one looks good to me, thanks man.

Message: If Del Mar Lane's address was 11900 S. Crenshaw Blvd per Jean's research, wouldn't that place it north of El Segundo Blvd, not south?
Yes that would actually place it north of 120th St. Lots of errors on web pages though so no biggie. The webpager probably meant 12900 which would be about right.

Message: Hi John...I Googled Del Mar lanes....the address was 11900 S Crenshaw Blvd in Gardena. It came up under 1950s bowling alley matchbook covers.....My parents bowled there for many years. My dad taught me to bowl there too. I saw The Olympics play there and the Missing Links. The drummer Mickey Dolenz later became a Monkee!
That sounds like the place Jean, thanks much,

Message: Alright, alright, I said Aloha and it was Tropicana. I was in the right state anyway. Wow, Mastin drug store...what a great memory. A real Hawthorne icon from the 50's. Mastin had a great lunch counter. The first time I ever had a patty melt. There was another lunch counter on Hawthorne Blvd. I want to think it was in the Woolworth's "5&10" on the west side near the A&P market. Or it may have been in Inglewood. Somebody out there knows.
Yes Woolworths in Inglewood had one too, down the street from the A&P.

Message: The bowling alley on Crenshaw So of El Segundo was Del Mar lanes. The first big entertainer I saw there was Tina Turner. I think the Tropicana Lanes was the one on Prairie No of Imperial. I bowled there and one season I had my Mustang stolen from there. They found it and the driver in Inglewood. He used it for a ride home.
By golly Jody, I think you've got it girl. Thanks for the help and glad you got your Mustang back.

Message: I was never a bowler, but I don't recall an alley south of El Segundo. But I thought there was one on Crenshaw, north of Imperial (?). And I think that was called Aloha Bowl.
Now that I think about it, it might have been Western Av.

Message: MORNING JB AND FELLOW COUGS. I THINK I FOUND A WAY TO SLOW DOWN CLARK THE RENOWN "COUGAR STALKER". THIS SAT/SUN THEIR WILL BE AN ESTATE SALE IN LONG BEACH, AT 2121 MIRA MAR, 90815, PHONE 714-2714472. ALL ALUM AND OTHERS ARE WELCOME. I SEE THEIR ARE MANY COUGS LIVING IN AND AROUND THE LONG BEACH AREA. THIS COULD BE A MINI REUNION. NOW ON THE LIGHT SIDE. AS MOST OF YOU KNOW BY NOW, THERE WAS A HORRIFIC CAR CRASH IN NEWPORT BEACH THAT TOOK THE LIVES OF OF 5 IRVINE STUDENTS. WHAT SPARKED MY INTEREST WAS THE PRESS TELEGRAM REPORTED THAT THEY WERE OUT "CELEBRATING THEIR IMMIGRATION". AT NO TIME IN MY LIFE DURING ANY CELEBRATION DO I EVER REMEMBER WRAPPING MYSELF AROUND A TREE, JUST SAYIN. MAKES ME GLAD TO BE BORN AN AMERICAN. GOOD NEWS NO OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE WERE INVOLVED. AND IN CLOSING, JB THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN ABOUT ME "STROKING OUT", AS ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I HAD A MINI STROKE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY. BUT WITH CONTINUED THERAPY I SHOULD MAKE A FULL RECOVERY.
Thanks for the morning news Bob

Message: Feedback seems a tad slow so thought I'd report in on my Cougar stalking...Today I was roaming around Manhattan and I met folks from Redondo, Fremont L A., Wenatchee (Northern Cal)., Daniel Murphy( L.A. parochial on 3rd St.), and Avalon high on Catalina! The closest I came was the wife of a Cougar. I met the wife of Tim Johnson (HHS83). His wife said he ran track so I'm sure I knew him because I coached on the HHS track team with Kye Coutney from 80-82. Someone else heard our conversation and jumped in to say he was on the El Segundo fire dept. for many years. I asked if he knew Dan Dye and he sad "Sure I do!". Then he told me he was a roommate of Beth Treckman years ago and told me what a great athlete she was. I told him that Eoni Treckman was a classmate and friend and younger sister Amanda ran track when I coached there and all the Treckman girls were good athletes. Just another interesting day of stalking!
Thanks there Clark, continue searching for the elusive Coagar, man.
