Message: I received a rather nasty email today regarding why I always pick on Clark. The email asked is it jealousy, inherent anger, repressed homosexuality, why do you continue to make fun of Clark. First of all there is no jealousy, no anger real or inherent and I have no idea if Clark is repressing anything. Clark was coached by my brother on the 1974 HHS team that would have won its first CIF championship team if Luther had not been on the staff. Email me if you want to know who Luther is. Second Clark was also coached by my Pops during track season in the pole vault. My dad's kids from a small Nebraska town [300] won the state pole vault and 400 meter hurdles every year for 5 years, his football teams were even more impressive. So no it is none of those, he just deserves it... Actually Clark and I talk and there is no animosity at all on my part and I am sure none on his. So the person that sent me the email relax, we are just having fun. I won't disclose his [grammatically correct not gender correct] name shall always remain confidential- CM! Clark, June is not good but maybe July spend the 4th with us!?
I apologize for sending that email, Jim, just venting I guess.

Message: Hey Big John, We've supported the football team financially for a few years with minimal positive results. Hopefully with the new coach from Beverly Hills this year we will see a few victories. How about an alumni fundraiser effort to get the band some decent uniforms? Bob Jensen and I and a few other alumni went to a band performance last year and these kids are good and the band director is working hard and getting results and producing a winning program! They represent the school very visually in competitions and parades. I'd sure like them to look good as well as sound good! What do you think Kahuna?
You have just volunteered for that job Clark, thanks man.

Message: I remember around 1975 my Cousin swapped cars with someone from Lennox, he had a stock 64/65 Mustang and traded for the weekend a 55 Chevy with a "Racing Pontiac" engine, It didn't sound real loud it was corked, but it had a problem with the belts, It had two and they only drove the water pump and the alt, Anyway everytime you would stomp the throttle it would break the belts, But it would haul **DONKEY** :) We must have put 50 belts on it that weekend, :D
Probably an alignment problem but we didn't care about no stinkin' belt alignment, just race it.

Message: Hey JB, A couple of drag racing stories. back in 64/65 Bob Fraser and I were cruising Hwathorne Blvd, Bob was driving his 409 61 chev. Later in the evening, we were heading south on Hawthone Blvd, Bob asked if I wanted to dtive, he pulled over, so I was driving toward 190th St. I caught the light, then a black 65 GTO pulled along side and asked if I wanted to run it, Bob said go ahead, green light, we took off, I nailed him about 4 car lengths. Then I saw lights in the rearview mirror, the man pulled me over, asked me how fast I was going, I said about 80/85, he said I was clocked about 105. because I was coopertive, he wrote me up 60 in a 35 mile zone, instead of street competition. Thanks a lot Bob. One other night Bob and I were coming from Inglewood Ave on to the Manchester on ramp. Bob was egged on by a fellow Cougar to race him on Manchester on ramp. They started racing, Bob was being pushed hard, Bob jumped on the throttle hard, shut him down at the end. I asked Bob, how fast were you going, Bob mentioned about 120/125 mph the needle was jumping around there and the tach read 7000 rpm. Bob said he felt the rear end of his 409 fish tailing a little. was scary but fun. If any Cougars have some tales to tell, jump right in.
Hi John, Thanks for the draggin' stories. Yes the Manchester on ramp onto the 405 was a great place to race...long with no cross traffic, but at the end it all swooped down into one lane and somebody better be out in front of somebody else because no one would let up Also entering the freeway at 100+ mph made it a little tough to merge into traffic. Yes bring on the street racing stories boys and girls.

Message: The best cruise night night ever. So glad I went. There was a large turnout of Cougars, and lots of great cars. I think the most cars I have seen at CN. I hadn't been for a while and really enjoyed the evening. Sounds like everyone had a wonderful time at Coco's. You all look great. Loved Judy-Wudy's haircut. Karen Fraser is as radiant as ever. Mo looked fab. It was great seeing you Glenn. I always enjoy your conversations. Diane Lay and Dan Petty came in his 57 T-Bird (always been my favorite car.) Diane is as beautiful as ever. Thank you JB for Cougartown and giving us all a forum to reach out to old and new Cougs alike. Forgot to mention another of my favorite cars, that beautiful red Cobra with the white racing stripe. So much fun. Did miss you and your Cobra, Lee. Heard a rumor that you are street racing.
Sharon, thanks for being there. It was an outstanding group of Cougars. Did a quick headcount and came up with about 65 people. As many out back as in front. Thanks to all for coming out.
