Message: Geez, I am usually pretty good with lyrics, but this game is hard. Anyway, I returned from Portland, where I met up with Lee Ann Nixon ('64) and had a great time visiting. Also went down the coast of Oregon to Yachats and Florence. Can there be any more beautiful places than those? My other comment concerns the class of 64's 50th reunion next year. I didn't see that anything is in the works and I would imagine it takes a ton of time to plan. I would love to attend if there is one. Also, I know I live a long way away, but if there is anything I can do to contribute, someone let me know?
Hi Pat, there is something going on for your class but too early to say where or when. Please stay tuned. I added a couple of milliseconds to some of the hard songs too.

Hey Jim, No but love the way you put those together Keep guessing I'm sure you'll hit one eventually. OR email Gary Miller. I had to cut his guesses short as he guessed pretty much everyone on the list.

Message: My apologies for promoting the Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne as a FIVE STAR award winner in the 39th Annual Southern California Restaurant Writer's 2012 - 2013 Awards. They were instead winners of the FOUR STAR award which is still a very good rating since "Four Stars are presented to restaurants scoring 90 points or more." I suppose I could say my dyslexia had something to do with it since there were so many 'stars' on that full page ad run for the SoCal Restaurant Writer's that I got corn-fused. (Perhaps the Foster's experience coming up this Saturday will give us a taste test for a better tomorrow).
Now that's a 5 star restaurant. See you there Jim

Message: John, I got ahold of Dan McCammon, and he is, as we speak, working on a computer program that will take the snippets of songs, and compare them with a database of music and spit out all of the song titles and artist. He just needs to know if it includes Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms? Let me know before the contest is over.
Will do Glenn

Message: I received very sad news this weekend. Jaye Lyn Stonbraker Martin, class of 1960, lost her battle with cancer on Friday morning, March 29, 2013. Our friendship started when Jaye Lyn's family would visit our neighbors, the Bolins, when I was in the first grade and she was in kindergarten. Her family moved to a new home across the street from my family when she was in the second grade. Our friendship was one of those where we would just pick up where we had left off each time we saw each other. Jaye Lyn was a fantastic artist and taught through the community center, adult ed and the community college in Bakersfield. She was encouraged to get her BA and Master degrees so she could be hired as a full-time teacher. She did just that in 2007 just days before her 65th birthday! To celebrate she and five friends (me included) went to Italy for two weeks. We started in Rome, stayed in a villa in Tuscany, on to Florence and then Venice before coming home. She then started work on her master's degree but was interrupted by illness. Family was very important to Jaye Lyn. She had two children, Matt and Jeanna, and three step children, Melody, Sheri, and Bobby, whom she called her own. She also leaves her adored grandson and granddaughter, her brother Harold (class of '62), sisters Jeannie(Skip), Jodie and nieces and nephews. Jaye Lyn made her home in Lake Isabella but was in Austin, Texas where she was staying with her daughter so she could receive additional medical care at the M D Anderson cancer center in Houston. She did get about 10 months more of quality life in Texas. Jaye Lyn was a woman with fantastic artistic ability, a love of life, and great strength of character. I will miss her dearly.
Sad news indeed, Maurine. Our sincerest condolences to Jaye Lyn's friends and family.

Message: Class of 1963's Reunion Hotel is FIVE STAR rated for food! In yesterday's Daily Breeze a Full Page ad listed the 39th Annual Southern California Restaurant Writer's 2012-2013 Awards. Note: Five Stars -- The highest honor, requires a special vote of the membership and the restaurant must have received an accumulative total of 95 points or above to be considered. So, those of us attending can expect some wonderful culinary capers! Yummy.
The food is just dandy at the Ayres.

Message: Hello! I'm a Morningside alumni and I've stumbled across this website by accident. I love this. Keep up the good work. I lived on the corner of 118th St. & Yukon which is an Inglewood address, but down the street (commonly known as "across the ditch"), was Hawthorne. I dated several Hawthorne boys, the only one whose name I can remember is Ron Swallow. I think the Beachboy Wilsons lived on 118th as well, but "across the ditch"! Thanks.
Hi Lannie, Monarchs are always welcome in Cougartown. Yes I think the "ditch" was some kind of dividing line between Morningside and Hawthorne.
