Message: All of you USC haters need to dial it down a notch! If my calendar is correct, this is still September, not December. The Heisman has not been awarded, no national champion is crowned. I sense a little jealousy from those of you who did not get to attend SC! By the way, Stanford has never won the national championship and hasn't had a Heisman winner since '70 with Plunkett! They were the better team last Saturday, it's just one game.
See college football fans, letting one little Dean Morris football feedback in and it turns into a brawl. Clark, I'm sure Dean is not jealous

Message: I would like to share this with those who knew Gary Gore, coach, teacher, mentor, at HHS in the 60's and 70's. My Daddy took his last breath today, September 11th, 2012. I want to share this with everyone that shared a special place in his heart, or to share memories. My family will appreciate your posts. Peace be with you, as I have no doubt he has finally found his peace... Please feel free to pass this link onto those who remember him. Contact me if you are unable to access the above link. Best Regards, Keri (Gore) Kline - Mint2behappy@aol.com
I know many here will remember your father, Keri. Very sorry for the loss of your father and our coach, teacher, and mentor.

Message: Congratulations to the 2012 Stanford Cardinal football team for shocking the world tonight and upsetting #2 USC Trojans. Anyone who watched this team over the last couple of years knew they had one of the top defenses in the country and their performance tonight simply wore down the Trojans. Give credit again to Jim Harbaugh for bringing smash mouth football to the farm (and now to the 49ers). It is a long season and if SC can regroup and knock down Oregon, we will see you in a great rematch on November 30.
Hi Dean, Yes, I will definitely give it to the Cardinal tonight. They were extraordinarily tough on us and played like champions. Congratulations go out to all the Stanford fans for a job well done. Matt Barkley has lots of accolades in the last 4 years but he can never say he beat Stanford.

Message: Two folks in the Cougar family today told me that Coach Bud Reagan from HHS has passed away. Coach Reagan was head coach for sophomore football in '73 and I think he was the JV baseball coach. Always sad to see a coach connected to the Cougar family passing on!
Sad news Clark, and not verified, but thanks for the information. Just called Coach Reagan's cousin, Bob Reagan HHS62, but he can't verify it either. I'm sure someone can.

Message: In an e-mail from Cathy, Henry Cooper's wife, a while back: "... 'Celebration of Life' for Henry is happening September 15, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Leffingwell Park in Cambria... We will then go to Old Camozzi's Saloon, Henry's favorite bar." I am going to be there, and I am assuming that many of his close friends will be there as well to remember Henry, and possibly tell the same kind of stories that were recounted at the Ol' Coach's 90th.
Thanks Glenn for the heads up, I'm sure the place will be packed.

Message: I have a special need if anyone drives by Vermont & Carson (UCLA Harbor Medical Center) on Wednesday morning's. I have had some health issues & have been diagnosed with a auto-immune disorder & MDS/Leukemia. My dilemma is: I am having a hard time finding parking at County(the parking lots are under contruction.)It takes me 45 minutes to find parking, & it's usually SO far away, if not 2 blocks away on the street, & walking to the entrances has been very challenging for me. If anyone works at this hospital, or goes by it around 7-8:00am every Wednesday, & lives in the San Pedro/RPV area, I would appreciate a ride/dropped off, & would compensate for gas. Thanks so much!
Good Luck Enza

Message: Yeah, I was a day late... sorry, was still hung over from my own bday celebrations. My heart aches for my dear friends Gloria, Patty, Cynthia, Ricki, Poli, and Mama, Lou, on the loss of brother Carlos, who was a wonderful man with a big heart and who could make you laugh so hard your sides would ache. I just returned from Skyland Resort at Shenandoah National Park where we attended the wedding of nephew Jonathan Warner Witt and his beautiful bride Kristen. What an incredibly beautiful place, the views are just amazing! And I had a Cougar son sighting! Do I get credit for son of a Cougar? Alex Brown, son of Donald Eugene Brown who I think was HHS 78, runs the catering at the resort. I have to say, the food was incredible and the service impeccable and Alex runs a terrific show up there. What a wonderful place.
Hi Sharon and HAPPY BIRTHDAY about 2 weeks late. Yes you get credit for a Cougar son sighting. You'll never catch Clark anyway. Thanks for joining in.

Message: So, Principal Newell needs a mere $25,000 to put his kids in programs and uniforms and yada yada yada... Ok, this means Jan & I will once again be working the VFW with raffles - a donation jar at the breakfast and checking the bar stools in the canteen for loose change. We'll be doing a "check your knee socks, money belts and braziers" fund raiser. (like I don't know where those senior citizens hide there stash) If there's as much money in those personal lingerie areas as I think, I'll have the money in 10 days. 2 years ago we did well with "put your money in the hat and don't ask questons" raffle. Please advise JB. This is overwhelming. Whew!
The school needs 25K but have other fund raisers going through the Students, Boosters, etc. We are just a piece of the fund raising. I would be happy if we donated what we did last year, about 10,500. We can set that as OUR goal. Judy, you do what you can at the Post and our Ctowners will do the same. Many thanks to our Cougartown donors, so far.

* Message: Just a reminder to CT readers that the Hawthorne VFW will be hosting an NFL (season opener) Kickoff Bar-B-Q tomorrow (Sunday the 9th) starting at 1pm to 5pm. Burgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, beans, chili, potato salad, chips, dips and dessert...all for $6.00 at the door... or buy a ticket today for $5.00. Don't forget that our canteen has the best prices in town for your favorite beer, wine or whatever you wish to consume. Hope to see many Cougars at our event. AND...next Sunday is our monthly breakfast. So make plans for that event, too. See you Sunday...and Sunday. Thanks to all who support our VFW. Commander Janny
