Message: You were commenting on how you dont get much response from younger grades..I'm from the class of 69, not that much younger, When I first entered this site, I really enjoyed all the sections and loved the old memories. I started writing things on feedback but didnt really get much response from anyone. It seems like most of the people on here are from classes of 1959 to 1964. Everyone seems to talk within their "click" which makes sense, as you are classmates and friends. It's kind of like you talk among yourselves, and perhaps others like me felt a bit ignored. It seems like also, you still live locally so you can better connect and get together socially. I did connect with a couple of old pals thanks to this site and a few of us are having an unofficial reunion, so if you are from class of 69 and want to connect with us, feel free to email me and, yes, I do use facebook too-Susan Adams (Nelson) Thanks for listening and all the hard work that you have put into this site-it IS appreciated!

Message: Charlene Ann (Haskell) Gibson, Class of '62, born 9/2/44, passed 4/12/12 at 5:30 a.m. Charlene fought a brave battle with lung cancer for the past 3 years. She kept a positive attitude throughout her many treatments. Charlene grew up in Hawthorne at 5128 W. 122nd St., attended Juan De Anza, R.H.Dana and Hawthorne High. She loved her family, friends, sports and slot machines. She played in the Hawthorne Girls Summer League for her dads Dr. Fraziers championship softball team with her older sister Susan (Haskell) Jones, HHS Class of '58. Charlene was my girlfriend in the late 50's and a very close friend to the end. Charlene was very grateful for all her many Hawthorne friends over the years and sends you a loving "good-bye". We will all miss her cheerful smile and positive attitude.

Message: Just wanted to thank you for mentioning my Birthday, I was on the road (truck driver) and didn't get to see it this year. I was also wondering if some of you ever went to Woodstock. I was a kid back then so obviously I couldn't go but I always wondered how it was and would like to hear from some people who were there...A personal point of view if that's okay. The shows they have on history and PBS are alright but they always seem like there are a few things missing. Just interested. Any memories, Anyone?

Message: John, we love Cougartown just the way it is. Neither one of us has ever even looked upon Facebook. (although we did watch the movie, The Social Network so we know what it is.) This website has provided us with so much happiness just keeping in touch with all things and people HHS and beyond. Actually, if truth be known, ol' Mark Zucker what's his face probably stole the idea from you and that would mean he owes you some royalties or something :) We hear the guy is pretty rich. On another note -- big Happy Birthday to Jody Weller and get well Sharon. Once that gall bladder is out you will feel soooo much better.

Message: About a month ago I emailed Jerry Miles to see if he could direct me in how to set up a web site for the "66/67 reunion coming up this summer. Jerry very promptly got back to me suggesting that it would be quite an undertaking even for someone as tech savey as he is and he suggested that I set up a Facebook page with information about the reunion to try and contact those who don't use Cougartown. Well, I finally got it done. WOW! John your site is 100 times more user-friendly. I don't know if I like the fact that I can read postings on people's "walls". I feel like a "peeping Tom". Anyway, I referred my classmates to CT Reunions page for all the info. I know there is quite some time before the reunion, but we really need to know if we will have enough attendees to meet our minimum commitment. So, if you are thinking about coming, just drop us a line to let us know. You can always send money later. After this Facebook experience, I am so appreciative that you have provided us with this great site, John. You're the BEST!

Message: Not exactly a Cougar-sighting, but I have some good news about Emitt Rhodes, who has had a long career in the music industry, and who lived/lives perhaps on 132nd Street. I saw the multi-talented Harry Shearer at the "Dan Hicks 70th Birthday Bash" in San Francisco on Good Friday, sent him an e-mail about that event and inquired for news of his friend Emitt, whose music appears often in "Le Show" on KCRW. Harry replied that he saw Emitt after an event at Royce Hall, UCLA, a while ago, and that he seemed fine. Emitt wrote "Live" and many other good songs.

Message: Sorry, Neil. Dang, did you get hammered? Must be too much depressing rain on Kauai to get Fredrick so worked up! Chill Dude! Anyway I do see your point but as other's have said it IS part of the cycle and we need to at least acknowledge it. If obits were hidden in an obscure section separate from Feedback it is likely that no one would read the posthumously written words of praise paid to them, shorting the deceased of their well-deserved recognition and accolades. That reason alone should justify "Putting death notes in the Front Row." Sure, it's not pleasant. But I personally feel that knowing about one who has past allows ME the bitter-sweet opportunity to reflect on & savor why I enjoyed their presence in my life. (I am still hurting over the loss of Gary Beaird, Wolfie, etc) Re the young kids' lack of Feedback participation, I think that is due less to our death notices and more to the Birth of F-Book, which I personally DON'T DO, by the way. Your 2 cents do have merit and I'm sorry the "Thugs" beat up on you! Hey, Steve Fraser used to pick on me, too! That's until his ticker stuttered...NOW he's nice to me! I don't read Feedback often because I KNOW "Dennis Campbell," who knows EVERYTHING! Maybe more than Google! I just ask him! (You should hear the stuff he says about John. And George & Paco! Bruuuu-tullll!) Take care Neil. Love ya, Man!

Message: Great story, Sherry! I'm sure John got a kick out of it too!!?? Hey, I just had an idea. Maybe all of us guys could relive the old days and dye our hair blon...oh, wait a minute...never mind. One summer I decided to cut my hair as short as I could; almost shaved. What I forgot was sun blocker. Man, about the third day, my head looked like a ripe Washington apple. And I had to sleep sitting up; couldn't put my head on the pillow. Wow, fun(?) times. Happy Easter all.

Message: I remember one summer I tried to help my brother John Rout "lighten" his hair. It was already a little sun bleached, but he wanted it "surfer blond". We bought a bottle of peroxide, and I put it on his hair. We had no idea how long to leave it on, so we made sure it was on long enough to get good and blond. Well, it was more like a bright yellow, and stiff as a brillo pad. Mom came home from work and was something less than pleased with us. She got a light blond toner and put it on him, but his hair was so fried that it absorbed every ounce of color that was possible. When she washed it off, his hair was black! Off to the barber shop he went for a buzz cut. I thought it was hysterical, of course. Wouldn't any little sister? Mom, on the other hand, was not amused. John was just grateful that football season was about to begin and he would have had to cut it anyway.
