Message: Oh what a Night last night! The workers at Foster's were thrilled we showed up, great classic cars in the parking lot and great people to talk with through-out the evening. It was Fun, fun, fun 'till our Daddy took the T-Bird away... John, your newly painted and polished truck looks amazing (on the outside)- - - some new seat covers, ummmm, OK, a new front seat is all you need to finish the 'Orange Beauty' off!
Hey Jim, Yes it is not complete yet, that's for sure, but had to bring it anyway. It's getting there. Thanks for coming out.

Message: We had a great time at Cruise Night too. Everytime we get together it really warms our hearts. We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends. It's funny, we experience what can only be described as an "afterglow" for a few days. John, your truck looked fantastic. Enjoyed seeing all the other cars, too. Hope no one in convertibles got too wet on the drive home. The weather held out just long enough for us all to have a enough time to visit with each other. See you all soon.
Thanks Bob and Karen for coming out, it was a blast.

Message: Mr. John Baker , Thank you so very much for posting the new feed on the Cougar town Alumni site with the contact information for Mr. Anthony Hughes the band director at HHS. The cause for our children representing the Cougar spirit with the new marching band is VERY serious. Your support in launching this campaign for a fund raising bucket for our young Cougar's who proudly work hard every day in the band room is a God send!!!! I speak for the kids when I say thank you! You are our Senior Cougar, and we will have an honorary band jacket for you personally when this is achieved ...And we love you! xoxox David J. Miranda "Make It A Blessed Day" ( John 3:16 )
David, No honorary band jacket needed. What we do need to know is what is the cost for the band jackets?

Message: A GREAT CRUISE NIGHT!!! Kathy said one of the many perks of hooking up with me 33 years ago is getting to know many wonderful Hawthorne alumni. She and I think you are the cream of the (crap) crop. Talking on the way home we didn't have enough superlatives to apply to all of you. So nice to see former students and many HHS friends. Jan, you will always have a special place in my heart. God bless all of you. Mr. P, HCH, Harry
Hey Harry, Always very nice to see you and Kathy at Cruise Nights. Thanks very much for coming out.

Message: Great fun on the boulevard last night meeting a whole new pride of Cougars that happened to wander in. Hope I didn't offend anyone by leaving so abruptly without any goodby's but when the sky was starting to open up it was a good time to pack up my topless car and head for cover. Not only a wet ride but a slippery one with a squirrely little car. ~ Lets do it again soon.
Thanks buddy for being there. Great fun last night.

Message: This is a call to ALL Cougars past and present. I am David and was part of a very very PROUD marching band 74 75 76. We were the best of the best, second to none in the state! I have met with the band director Mr. Anthony Hughs and toured the band room. So many good memories. Why am I writing? Simple. They need help! The tradition and Cougar spirit we brought to the streets, the football field, and the stands, must be returned. I have been put on a mission from God my savior, the band director, and yes, the young men and women who now today proudly attend band to rally up all of you who once stood so tall and hailed the name COUGERS to haile once again in supporting the marching band. They need so much. It is a moral imperative that we give them, our youth, what they deserve and are working so hard for every day. My god, they don't even have simple jackets with the letter HHS...WHY????? No drum major uniform. Where did it go. It was from Scotland and breath taking. Where did the beautiful band uniforms go with our name and colors go? All of us back then as kids worked so hard raising the funds all on our own to get them. They are gone..Why??? Please, let's rally up Cougar style and support the marching band! It's time to make noise on the streets, the bleechers and the field once agian and haile the name Cougars with the marching band. Without your support, they cannot. Please ....Pass the word!!!!!! HELP HELP HELP......Your young Cougars need YOU. The HHS Alumni family.... I have asked Mr. Baker to set up an official band fund raising bucket sponsard by the Cougar Town Alumni...Please respond your support by replying to this feed...... Message: I am so saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend, Maurine Hohenthaner. I was one of the lucky ones who got to work in the student store with her my junior and senior years. I learned a lot from her. We maintained contact over the years, exchanging Christmas cards forever. She always enjoyed hearing about all my girls and their adventures and accomplishments over the years, I also loved hearing about her life in Paradise. I will miss you. RIP My heartfelt sympathy to her family.

Message: Yes Bobby, little doris donaldson remembers that Cruise Night. It was 10 years ago and Hawthorne and all cities around had been experiencing a downpour for literally DAYS! I was staying in someone's beachhouse right on the Strand and it was a good 2 to 3 inches deep on the on that path! Thought it would run in the front door! It finally let up late the afternoon of Cruise Night and having traveled almost 1,000 miles for that event, there was no way I was going to let a little cold or rain keep me away! ha! But it very nearly kept everyone else away! That Cruise Night was held just a few days prior to St. Patrick's Day. Ah! Those were the days!! Actually, the happiest of my life. THANK YOU for remembering.

Message: I just received a note from Richard Gahlbeck's son Mike that Richard class of 1961, was taken to the hospital this evening with chest pains and he wound up having severe plaque build-up removed from arteries leading to the heart. He's resting and won't be awake for a few days according to Mike. The doctors said along with the removal of the plaque there was some damage done to the artery walls. I've known Rich since BEFORE HHS when he lived on Menlo Ave. Those of you who remember Richard Gahlbeck; well, I'm sure he would appreciate a prayer or two from you. I believe he's in a Bellingham, WA hospital since he lives in that area now. Thanks Cougars!
I met Richard at the 60-61 reunion a couple of years ago. BIG Studebaker guy. Get well Rich.
