Message: John, all you had to do is every once in awhile instead of surfing at 26th Street in Manhattan, make an appearance at 22nd Street in Hermosa and fight for waves along side with Mike Purpus, Dewey Weber (RIP) Dru Harrison (RIP) and the Leuzinger surfers who's turf seemed to be 24th Street would have given you a free pass to venture into the Light House Drive-in Leuzinger turf. But the Leuzinger lowriders might have been a problem. ;-) FYI: Mike Purpus doesn't have any of his original teeth today.

Message: Looking at the photo this is an easy one where it's a 50 % chance you can get it right because there are only two possibilities. Hawthorne Blvd. and Imperial Blvd. or Hawthorne Blvd. and Rosecrans Ave. Since the former Light House Drive-in restaurant isn't visible, that eliminates Rosecrans. I remember the Light House tacos for some reason back in 67 or 68.
I was afraid to go to the Lighthouse as you might get stabbed by a crazy Leuzinger guy.

Message: Regarding everyone going together to see the Beach Boys. As I am not planning on buying a block of tickets, the only way I can see it working is that everyone purchase their own tickets and make their own MTA reservation and meet at the park in Torrance from where the buses leave. If you want to sit with someone, maybe you can coordinate with them on getting seats next to one another. I will post new information on MTA reservations after I have visited the site.
P.S. if you have an American Express card, you can start purchasing tickets with it today.
Thanks Sharon, I think tickets will be available for purchase by us regular folks on the 26th of February.

Message: Clark, the "powers to be" at HHS have stalled the resurrection. The original planned area was taken and no future plans (that I know of) are in the works. This was originally the plan of the class of 2010. I contacted the advisor of the class of 2011 and never really got an answer where the project stood at that time. I'm ready when they are. Hope everyone is well.
HHS is going through an extensive remodeling period. For them, Senior Square is not, at present, a priority.

Message: Hey George, my apologies you are absolutely correct, this is not a spelling contest! You see in 1970 in the 6th grade at York I had a legendary spelling contest with our dear southern belle Sharon Bierman Branigan and it seems to have lingering effects. Big Kahuna John did clarify last Sunday at the VFW breakfast that a "sighting" has to be a chance encounter, not a planned dinner with classmates. Put an HHS flag upon your backyard and I bet you'll get some Cougars encroaching on your privacy. Hey Bobby Jensen: How about an update on Senior Square? Don't let us down now. You're our point man on this one!

Hey Paul, You got it. I tried to cut the Cockatoo out of the original to make it tougher but it seems there are subliminal hints in all of these.

Message: Hey Georgie Johnson, I found another one! Cougar sighting (please note spelling George, not siteing!) #1236. Met Stefanie Torres ('08) this evening while she was working at the Godiva chocolate store in the Manhattan mall. We had a nice chat and she said Mark Newell is doing a great job as principal. I tried to talk her into a Cougar discount on some chocolate covered strawberries to no avail, I tried! Back to my stalking!
Good one Clark, keep on sighting.

Message: Hey, Dennis Shelley, it's been 45 years since that June day in 1967 when HHS set us out on our life journeys. Your classmates are all so proud of your service to our country. This week we are having our first official meeting for our 45 year reunion to be held this summer. Now that you will be retired, you can join us. All the usual suspects will be meeting this Wednesday evening. (Pat Duran Morrow, Judi Zaccaglin Storey, Paul Clark and myself and of course, Mike Storey '66) If any of you '67 grads have any suggestions or ideas, please let me know as I will be the Cougartown contact for the reunion. As always, '66 are welcome to join us. This time, Jerry Miles, take good care of yourself so that you can be there. After reading the post by Dennis's brother on Dennis's service to our country, I am inspired to invite all of our classmates to please send me pictures of yourself in uniform and we will have our own Veteran's Monument at the reunion. Reunion search companies are very expensive. Once, again we will be using Cougartown to get the word out. If you know classmates who are not registered on Cougartown, please let them know about this summer. More news to come later this week....
Yes please let me know the wheres and whens Linda, and I will add you to the Reunions page.

The kids all rode the horses and we had a great steak dinner and everyone got to practice their 2nd amendment rights as we have a small place we can do it on. From AR's to AKs and pistols ranging from .380, .357., 9mm & .40 Glocks, 32 Beretta. It was just great having my family together cept my Son goes back to Afghanistan today, although he chooses too and my S-I-L goes back to work in Nevada. But it was a super day and thank you guys and gals once more for the good wishes. Some people may ask what we're afraid of by having so many guns and my prototypical answer would be "not a damn thing"!! MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! Jake N Jude

Message: Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow morning is the VFW breakfast. This Sunday is special for us at the Post as we will be celebrating the Post winners for the VFW yearly contest for Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen. These two programs involve students at the high school and middle school levels. Our winners did not make it to the state level but they are still winners. They will be presented a certificate and monetary gifts from the Post and our Ladies Auxiliary. The students will also read their submitted essays. In addition, and all you Richard Henry Dana alumni take note, the Post Teacher of the Year is from Dana and not only did he win at the Post level, he won at the District level and the State level as well! He is now in competition with all other state winners at the National level, the winner to be announced in March. Kevin Corrinet teaches eight grade algebra, is a West Point graduate, an Iraq war veteran, Captain of the guard at Arlington National Cemetary and is one of our newest members. Great credentials for an army guy... He, too, will be presented with a certificate and a monetary gift. So, tomorrow morning, breakfast starts at nine and the presentations start at ten. Please support the VFW, the student winners and our teacher from Dana. See you tomorrow and I promise not to break any eggs...unless you ask for them that way. Life is good. Janny the cook
Sounds great Jan, see you about 9am.
