Message: Regarding the rip in the Plaza Theater's screen: I do remember being there for a Saturday matinee during intermission when the theater's manager would MC ticket stub drawings. During his time on stage he lectured us on our bad behavior which he said caused a rip in the screen when "someone throwing a flattened popcorn container" at the screen caused the damage. He went on to say that they would leave it there to remind us to behave. Could a popcorn box actually cause the damage to the screen? I'm also skeptical. However that is what the manager said.

Message: It didn't take the "Cougar stalker" very long to get 2012 off on the right foot! I met Diego Basarte('06) on Jan. 3rd at the IHOP on Sepulveda just a little South of Imperial. Nice young man. Had another sighting during the holidays but I won't get credit unless Mo Trott is reading feedback and can give me a name of a classmate as I forgot his name...Right after the December VFW breakfast I was talking with our Kahuna big John and I told him it was my holiday goal to find a pre-1970 Cougar. I drove by Halcap on the way home to see if anything was going on. There was a baseball game in progress so I stopped for a few minutes. Met a good guy who identified himself as class of '64 who had been living in Orange County for 25 years but now lives on 26th Street in Manhattan right across from the HHS hangout (the parking lot). He said he knows you Mo, can you identify him for me? Well back to my stalking.....

Actually, the 'Duck' was St. Joe's standout jock and a kid whose family always had an open door across from HHS on Broadway. Good memories all.

Message: Been reading the Recollection section-(for two nights) This message is a comment on Steve Eide '66..I was told that the tear on the Plaza Movie screen was caused by one of the Studer brothers throwing a knife at the screen...Steve says it was caused by a flattened popcorn box..anyone else know? (rumors!)

Message: John, In trying to catch up on the Feedback I read the post by Chris Prewitt. I had to chime in with what I thought was the best comeback to a "Dear John" letter. I was in the Navy and one of my shipmates got a "Dear John" from his sweetheart back home. He spent the evening correcting the spelling, grammar and punctuation, put a big red F as a grade at the top and sent it back to her. He showed her some class. I am sending out wishes for a safe, healthy, blessed and happy 2012 to all the Cougar family.

Message: Spending all of my Christmas vacation on this web site, so addicting! Was watching the Knotts video-took my children on a road trip down south to share childhood memories. I couldn't wait to show them Knotts, one of my favorite places. Was I dissapointed! All the cool stuff seemed to be gone. I kept asking the employees where certain things were and they didn't have a clue. Finally one of the employees said that the Knotts family sold the theme park to someone else and took all the cool stuff with them. Jeffreys Barn with all the photos of boxers, My favorite was a huge painting of a Native American father with his family by a fire with a full moon. My mom bought me a copy of the painting since she knew how much I loved it. it still hangs on my wall. Really wanted my kids to see the real one. I think the name of the painting was "Night Watch", but I don't know who the artist was. My copy doesn't have the name or artist on it..can someone help me out. At least the "Bottle House" was still there.

Message: Yes, Sharon, I wonder how many other Cougs' mothers were on the Queen for a Day show. There were many friendships that grew from that show. Once you became Queen for a Day, you automatically became a member of the "Queen for a Day Club" which was a social club made up of all of the past and present "Queens". I can still remember my mother going to some of the social functions. The club met for many years, even after the program went off the air. My mother had friendships from that that lasted many, many years.

Message: Hope 2012 is good to all Cougs. Spent Christmas in Norcal with my older son and family and have been catching up on all the posts using my new "toy" - a Kindle Fire. My mom and Helen Andriachi (probably spelled that wrong) were on Queen for a Day on the same day in 1962 or 1963 -they did not know each other until that day.
