Message: See you tonight, John. I just tried clicking on the Eight Fingered Criminal's Son book on the right, but could not get a link. Maybe it's my computer or maybe the link is down. I want to get it. I tried bookstores, but no one has it yet. I'll surf the net and see what happens. Again, Candy and I will see all of you this evening
See you there Sharon.

Message: Great to hear we’ve got ourselves a football team. I’ll be pulling for the Cougars from the other side of the desert tonight. Thank you to those who downloaded THE EIGHT-FINGERED CRIMINAL'S SON. The e-book is off to a nice start, thanks in no small part to the Cougartown mojo.
Hey Bill, Funny you should leave a feedback right now as I just read shoe store, Prom date, Daphne Morales chapter. Trying to fight off the laughing tears, I couldn't see the Kindle, let alone the text. For ANYONE who grew up in Hawthorne, this book will take you back to your youth, no matter when you graduated. Just click on the book in the right pane on this page and get to LYAO!! Hand in your book reports next Friday.

Message: Sadly, there's a memorial for Rose Mary Lentz, who lost her fight with cancer and who is Bob Cavanagh's girlfriend and a tireless worker in the Womens Auxiliary. The memorial is Sat, Oct 15, at the Haw. VFW post at 4:00 pm in which we'll be honoring her with a buffet afterward. She didn't attend HHS, but many people knew of her through Bob. Then on Sunday, Jan will rattle those pots and pans at the Hawthorne VFW post's breakfast - from 9 - 11:30 am. Can't make the homecoming but I'm still rooting for our HHS football team. Unbelievable winning streak!!!!!
Let's keep that streak alive, Cougars!!

Message: Cougar Sighting. I was at my moms house this past weekend with my sister working and getting it ready to sell when a young girl stopped by and in talking with her I found that she is a newly graduated Cougar of just a few short months ago. Her name is Syahzlane Ali who graduated June 2011. I told her about Cougartown and to go online and check it out.
Great sighting Vicky and thanks for the plug.

Message: There was a time prior to the seventies, that T.P.ing, egging, and fireworks was as good as it got. So, my comrades and I did so much of the above, to senior square, the football field, I.B.M. cards the day before, I.B.M. day at school, record centers, etc. until finally they put a reward out for us. But, back then there weren't so many rats, and we didn't really hurt anyone, 'cept maybe the custodians. And that wasn't on purpose either. So, much fun, I think everyone should just cool out and throw a few eggs this Halloween, maybe T.P. a house, but at least go house to house on a scavenger hunt and make some new friends... My Best, J.M.O.III

Message: I never heard of Noteno Tex Mex music with the accordion, I grew up with the polish polka and I married a man that played music polkas by Frankie Yankovic. I also loved to dance the Polish Polkas at weddings. Sorry about that. I know very little of Wayne just remember him from high school in the wrestling team. I didn’t know him as long as you have. Nice man I wish him well with his music and I am glad he plays the accordion. Music is something I love and wish everyone that loves music would learn an instrument. I play the piano but not well --just chop sticks lol, lol … I can only sing, but than again my husband use to tell me don’t quit your day job. Lol….

Message: Well, just got back from "The Big Squeeze" in Orange County. For those people that don't know about this event, it is a group of Accordian players from all over America. Great music that only an Accordian player could appreciate. Although I must say Accordian music has changed a bit. With the new technology they sound more like an organ than an Accordian. I'll take the good old Accordian sound any day. John I'm thinking of a good Polka, can you guess? Well it's back to my 2 hour practice session. Got to get ready for the next gig.
How about "Lady of Spain" Hey Wayne, Why not bring the accordion out to the Homecoming game this Friday? You can play the Alma Mater.

Message: John: Cougar Football we won again GrOOOOOOvey: A HomeComing thought. This Team reminds me of the 65 Team when Coach Hal Chauncey and one of his assistants Jim Bunyard returned and Orchestrated our way to the League Title. In 64 we came in Last or close. Hall of Famer Ron Mix is a Great Speaker thanks to Jerry Miles Vids. I have seen Him. But the Three of them in one Venue Superb. Sports world may be interested in T-Shirt Rights? I'M a Poor But Happy Man. Not an Oxymoron Statement Honest. And can not attend Home Coming. So I will Burn some Humbolt Sage as Tribute to the Goddess of High School Football Champs. Go Cougars. Hey Henry, It should be a great matchup between HHS and BV. They are ranked fairly close to one another, we'll see. This Friday we play Leuzinger there.

Message: My uncle, Richard L. "Dick" Whitaker, class of '54, passed away September 18th, 2011. He battled several health issues for the past 2 years. While attending HHS, he played football and baseball. After high school, he served in the Air Force Reserves, then became a Fireman for the City of Hawthorne, and was an accomplished Carpenter. A Celebration of Life will be held @ 2:00pm on Sunday, October 9th at the Mission Lakes Country Club clubhouse in Desert Hot Springs. He was loved by all and was a friend to everyone. He will be missed.

Message: Don't know if it's possible for a non Cougar to have a Cougar sighting. My son went to wedding a little over a week ago and met a Cougar named Jerry Barkley. He said he was from the fifty's and hung out on 117th street. Don't know which end. I couldn't find him in the Alumni List and am wondering if anyone remembers him. This happened in Salt Lake City, Utah. By the way, John, our E Mail address does still work, we had some kind of a glitch here for a few days.
Hey Ernie, I guess that counts as a sighting, thanks. Good to know on the email address too. Thanks for checking in man.
