Message: I lived in sect 14 in about 1953, 800 block of 126th, now 4012 W 126th, A 480 sq ft house, I was taller than the 2 palm trees in the front yard, look at them now, 35 yrs later as a realtor I walked thru the house again and I sold it, I don't think anything has changed, except the carpet. I also lived in sect 10, 470 N Ramona, sect 9, I think 11970 S Ramona, between Pat Cavanaugh and Kitty Reading, sec 16, 188 E 142nd, and sec 8 near Oceangate, where I rode the bus to Haw Christian. In 1958, while living in sec 15, 427 E 133rd, in 1958, I was listening to KFWB at about 6 am, and the disc jockey said the 1st person to call whose phone # added up to 25 would get a copy of The Purple People Eater, my # was Osborne 9-1069 and I won! If people don't remember their numerical address, thats how I found the 4012 W 126th, it was next to the alley between Prairie and York.
Hey Gary, Yes for all who might want to find their address, go to Zillow.com. That may help.

The Valencia family being plural (more than one Valencia family member), I would have said ARE too Ricki. You wouldn't say "we IS the Valencia Family". Of course I got Ds in English so there you go

Message: Happy B-day Mary Ann Walton. Hope you stay ccooolll. Hard to do in that country the way mother nature is treating people. I lived in Sect 5 between Anza and Felton at 5116 w. 118th pl until the big 405 influenced our lives between my soph and Jr years. We then moved to Sect 8 on 137th st, between Shoup and Oceangate at 5114 137th. Then of all things we bought our first house in section 8 between Shoup and Inglewood ave on 138th st, just west, up the block from Stellinos market. Used to love to take my kids down there as the two butchers Ed & Whitey loved the kids and would give them a hotdog while we shopped. This was between 67 and 74. Roccos was still serving food at that time and you could actually get a good sub from Stellinos if you talked to Mike. Even KFC served a pretty good meal back then. And for the great throw back, I don't know when Taco Tio went out of business, but their Taquitos were to die for, for 25 CENTS and their Taco Burger was the same. Lord this old guy wants to go back in time. 68 Roadrunner? Wish I could. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! Jake N Jude
Thanks Russ

When I got married we bought our first house on 133rd and Oceangate and lived there for 23 years. There were about 10 Cougar families that lived on 136th Street when I was growing up.

Message: Great idea JB. I lived in Section 1 where Judah was 4 lanes wide. It was the perfect place for the neighborhood kids to play baseball. There was almost never any traffic except morning and afternoon rush hour (which back then was about 30 minutes). I remember the Appleton girls would sometimes join us guys playing ball and when they did most of us guys couldn't focus on the ball. Thanks for the memory jogger. Wonder where those Appleton girls are now???

Message: Section 11, 4707 W. 129th Street, which was supposedly the farm house was Hawthorne High was a bean field. Unfortunately, the house was rocked off its foundation in the Sylmar earthquake, and subsequently demolished and sub divided into three lots. What a great house, at back of property, with huge tree in the front that got TPed regularly.

I'm at VFW Bingo, minding my own biz..and in walks one of my oldest friends from HHS, Mary Plater Vaughn, Class of '64.. what a great surprise..she planned it all without me knowing.. so as a treat, I took her into the canteen to have our favorite drink from the early 60's... so we ordered a sloe gin in a saucer and drank it thru a straw. Ahhh...brought back good memories. Like to talk about it a little more, but the room is spinning & I'm getting adjita..The Italians know what that is....

Message: OOP'S, Forgot sector 14, I rented an apartment with Richie Tews & Bill Roark, across the street from Mike Weathers house. If you saw the movie "Animal House", that's what our place was like. The parties started every friday & usually ended on Sunday. After a while, we didn't know a lot of the people that showed up, except for the reguler Hawthorner's that seemed were always there. Apparently it became known wide spread by word of mouth, that there was always a party at Broadway & Oxford on the weekends. Jorge
