Message: Let's not forget about Hawthrone Highway that covered, divided walkway past the attendance office window which intersected with Melody Lane that ran in front of the flag pole.

Message: There was mention of Mr. Clark the Math teacher. He was different that's for sure!! He had this big old truck and made the bad kids wash it when they were in trouble. He talked about being a extra in the movies. I remember one very famous movie he was in. For the life of me I can't remember the name of it. I did fail his class and had to go to summer school at Leuzinger. That was a real experience.

Message: Couldn't have done it without your tip JB. Thanks. Since I'm 1 for 1 I'll take a stab that Hollywood Bl is the covered walkway the goes past the offices and Nyman Hall. that's the only place I can think off: you know, plays at Nyman Hall=stars? My best edgamacated guess.
Actually the covered walk is Hawthorne way but 90 degrees and east of Nyman Hall is Hollywood Bl, again, close enough Greg, thanks.

Message: Would Sunset Strip be the road that ran along the railroad tracks by the boys locker room?
Close enough Greg, Sunset Strip was the concrete surface running right along the north side of the Boys Locker Room. Thanks for clearing that one up, now who remembers where Hollywood Bl. was?

Message: In answering ERIC LARSON's question about the location of "Sunset Strip" on the HHS campus; I remember seeing it & walking on it! I looked in my closet and various drawers for my HHS 'Guidebook' to no avail. I found my classbook from Hawthorne Intermediate which doesn't help. I would like to say the wide curving walkway that ran from the S/W corner of the campus to the N/E side should have been called 'Sunset Strip' simply because it paralleled Sunset Blvd. in some respects. But, where on the campus was it located? I THINK it was somewhere near the cafeteria...
Hi Jim, No No and No. The Sunset or the Strip part should give you a clue.

Message: Well, the NorCal Reunion this afternoon I believe was enjoyed by all. Bob Hunter 1960, The Barnes sisters Kathy '61 and Karol '64, The Benson brothers Gary '64 and Glenn '68, Glenn Crist '64, The Domenick brothers, Frank '65, Lou '66, and Rick '69, Bill Ennis, Jerry Miles and Ed (John) Skinner '66, Joe Norcross '68 all the way from Hanford, Ca, myself, Kristen Rice, and Paul Wieber '69, Matt Peterson and Max Roelen '74 and Jacki Brown Green '75...what a pleasure it was meeting those of you I didn't already know. I know this has been said a hundred times but it still always amazes me how one can show up to something like this not knowing a soul yet because of that one common thread that ties us all together (attending HHS and all our memories of long ago)- you leave knowing everyone. I just want to thank each and every one of you who attended this little get together today. It was a such an enjoyable afternoon. And I don't think the weather got past 89 degrees! There were only a couple who were not able to make it and we are sorry we missed you. Someone suggested this afternoon that we make this an annual event -I think we certainly could. And thanks to Jerry Miles as I could not have done this without his help and again thanks to everyone who decided to just get out there and do it! It was a lot of fun.
This is what it's all about folks, getting together with our alumni and sharing Hawthorne and Hawthorne High memories. Sounds like it was a great turnout. We have lots of fun here in the Socal area with Ctown Picnics and Cruise Nights, it's nice to know that others are getting together and enjoying memories of our common bond. Thanks very much, Anita and Jerry, for all you two did to make it a fun day for our Norcal Alumni. I hope this will inspire others to do the same in their areas.

Message: JB; Barrett Jackson seems to always have a good showing of vehicles for their auction and is fun to attend, however, they way over inflate the worth of the cars they are auctioning off. Great if you are a seller, bad if you are looking for something to buy. If you are looking for a specialty car, try E-Bay, Craigslist or Auto-Trader, you will find a better deal, trust me.Jorge
Trust ME Jorge, It is a buyers market now. I feel sorry for some of the sellers. Just watch the auction for an hour and you'll see what I mean.

Message: I haven’t heard a word about the great picnic in September lately. Where are those Party Girls, Judy, Sue and Sharon? I’ve been practicing with my Hula Hoop and it is not a pretty sight! Is this crowd too old for a Soft Ball Game? If we do frozen tee shirts for the girls do we have to do frozen tighty whities of the guys? If anyone has any suggestions for activities please pass them along. Hey John, no one has said anything about my new photo. It was heck getting those background colors of red and yellow…

Message: Last night on the Antenna Channel I was watching "Father Knows Best'. The family was at a college reunion and at a dance with some of the students. Dancing behind the stars was a couple that included Mr. Cal Clark. Mr Clark was a math teacher and basketball coach at HHS in the '60s. I think I remember some talk about Mr. Clark and Mr. Nelson the boy's vice principal doing extra work.
Hey Gary, I know Mr. Nelson did some movie/TV stuff. Mr. Clark must've been doing it too, thanks.

Message: The "Cougar Stalker" has been quiet but with the start of summer I'm back on a roll....Met Grace Alvarado who attended HHS from 2002-2005, then last Thursday I dropped into Bill Featherstons office and Gary Poltash('73) happened to be there. I didn't know Gary personally in high school as I was a freshman when he was a senior but we all went to lunch and I had the pleasure of getting to know one of the gridiron giants I watched every Friday night on Halcap.
Hey Clark, another great Cougar sighting by you. Thanks for that and glad you got to hang out with the Cougar elite too.

Message: While sifting through boxes of memorabilia in an effort to prepare for our multi-class reunion this August (had to get a plug in somehow so get your ticket orders in the mail today), I ran across the notice that was sent out for “back to school night” that included a campus map. Here is the question of the day. No fare looking it up… We all remember the walkways around the Cougar campus, right? Most of us have forgotten that these walkways had names. Can you remember where the walkway officially called “SUNSET STRIP” was located?
Good Question there Eric. Anyone remember? I do not.
