Message: I am SO PROUD to announce a Cougar sighting! I ran into Rod Beck 76 at the Anaheim Marriott today! He recognized me first, because I was carrying a lunchbox with my son's name on it (Mikey Branigan) and Rod knew it from FB. The second time I looked at him it dawned on me who that guy was! Rod hasn't changed at all, and the only reason I didn't get it at first glance was because I was looking for someone else that I didn't know well and was trying to remember the face. So Rod, here's to you; we have known each other since 8th grade. It was lovely seeing you today and I hope to see you again very soon!

Message: For those of you who might remember the Burkett family, I am sorry to say that Velma Burkett passed away yesterday. She was one of the many Stacy Street moms who always had an open door for the kids in the neighborhood. Her children included Carolyn, Freda, and my husband Fred Burkett. All were HHS graduates. She will certainly be missed by all of us.

Message: I've been waiting a looooong long time Tillie, to find out why The Kissing Guy didn't fulfill his obligations at the Prom and why, in the first place, he was named The Kissing Guy. You can imagine how disappointed I was to learn that it was "all talk" on my first visit to a Cruise Night. However, I will have to give "old Dan" (you're just a KID, Mr. Dye!) this ... he gives a GREAT HUG!

Just think, if I take care of myself and the good Lord is willing, I will be 100 years old in 33 years. Susan, Judy-Wudy came up with the name Kissing Dan just before the Prom night in the early 2000's However I was disqualified for an unfair technicality that happened almost 50 years a-go and the kissing booth was cancelled. You will have to get the details from Judy-Wudy. Dan.

Message: Was in Redondo Saturday for a few short hours for a family thing. My brudder Bill and I were having Dinner at the cheesecake factory when there was a commotion at the front lots of yelling then a H H HAW T T THO R R RNE over and over again. Our waitress came to get our order and we inquired as to what is going on in the foyer [did you like the one Ronnie?]? We told her we went to Hawthorne High School and that was a familiar cheer. By now we could see that they were dragging someone out the door. Well she said some guy named Clark comes in here once a week with that sign chanting that yell. We both looked at each other and said simultaneously "no couldn't be." As we left, the sign was against the wall, a picture of your Cougar siting picture John, next to it were the words in Scarlet and Gold, "Will buy Cheesecake for a Cougar!" I guess as Paul Harvey would say-now you know the rest of the story. As an aside, we looked for Clark in the parking lot for nearly an hour hoping to get our cheesecake. Next time.

Message: Dear Cougar John, Because I’m signed up at Cougartown, I just received your latest bi-annual Cougartown update. Thanks for the journeyman job you do in keeping all us Cougar Cubs in touch. A tip of the hat also goes to you for promoting the semi-annual Cruse-Ins. The last one was a blast. It gave me one of those moments in life I will never forget. A familiar face in the crowd singled me out and called my name. None other than my football coach (for three years) Mr. "Bill" Fetherston recognized me. We spent time chatting and looking over the El Molino I brought along. Thank you John for providing a platform to remind every Cougar to 1.)renew/start a membership 2.) make sure your contact information is up-to-date and 3.) if you want to attend the multi-class reunion this August 27th, get your rear-in-gear and contact the reunion committee before tickets are gone. The reunion is centered around the classes of 1970-1971-1972-1973 but anyone that wishes to get together with Cougars from the past is welcome to pay and play. I would appreciate any help I can get in getting in contact with my “missing” class of 1970 “peeps”. If you have not received an email from me and are from the class of 70 (or know that someone from the class of 70 that did not get an email from me), I invite you to contact me for more info. Kudos to you John…

Bob Fraser was getting some snacks in the snack booth at the same time I was. I also met another friend, Kevin Burke I haven't seen in several years...he didn't attend HHS. By the way this free no hassle Main Street thing is going on tomorrow and Sunday also; April 9th & 10th if some of you want to go.

Message: I love the picture and am so sorry to have missed Sunday - on Saturday! ; )) The Berardinos were neighbors of the Biermans for a short time when we lived on 117th Street and they were fine folks. Sunday was a playmate, Dominic the cute older brother. I remember a great Halloween Party that I am sure was thrown by their family - all the neighbor kids came. There were scary movies on TV, bobbing for apples, candy and fun! I also recall Sunday's father having saved the life of a young child who lived next door to us - the baby had nearly drowned in the bathtub and the mother spoke little English. She was wailing about her little "Michael" from inside the house and Mr. B came running down and performed CPR. At least that is my memory and he has always been a hero to me. I have not seen them in so very many years but have always had such fond memories. That is, once again, the joy of Cougartown. I'll see you at the picnic in September Sunday - bring lots of memories to share!! XO

Many a night Tambo and I after a night out with Adolf Coors would take him home after finding him wandering around in his scivies. Of course we never knew where he lived so we always guessed. Message: Sounds like Cruise Night had a good showing of Cougars. Sorry I was not able to make this one. I would like to make a suggestion if I may? Since the month of March is soooo unpredictable weather-wise and since the August Cruise Night is almost always held on the 3rd Saturday of the month and the VFW breakfast is always on the 3rd Sunday of the month - why can't the Spring Cruise Night be moved to the 3rd Saturday of April? On the rare occassions such as this year where that weekend also happens to be Easter weekend you could simply move it up a week. April and August...pretty easy to remember and two birds with one stone as well - Cruise Night & VFW Breakfast.
