Message: Was the drug store at the corner of Hawthorne and Broadway ever called Broadway Drug? Maybe that's just what we referred to it as because of the location? Judy you definitely found a good one, and there's nothing wrong with Moose Munch! (well maybe he could have slipped just a couple diamonds in there). Jake and Judy, you guys still look great...no wonder you wanted to post your current picture... now if I could just find one of mine... not!
Hey Janet, Lots of people this morning have been sending in their recent photos and they all look great. Thanks to all for the updates. OH, Mastin drug store was always called that since it opened in the 1930s.

Message: Re: Grolmus Electric Co. Ask.com returns a link tochuckkelley.blogpost.com, which shows the same picture. There is one comment in response that it was at 136th St.and Hawthorne, circa 1957, on the southeast corner, which would be perhaps between Lloyd Dennee's Hardware and the Bluebird Liquor Store.
Thanks John, that puts it right where I was thinking, just across from A&W.

Message: John I have a question. We see the faces of most all the Cougs in their glory days. But why can't we get all these kids, I say kids because most are younger than I, to get a new pic up there now, post high school, as we are in the present. We're all very brave having written in to this site and baring our hearts and souls. I think we should all fess up and put a pic up for the site that shows that we're all equal and we have AGED and as you and I know it don't make any sense to hide your looks or feelings. As you always say don't miss your reunions no matter what you feel if you can possibly make it happen. AND I mean a present pic, within the last few years. That would be cool. Wha'da think C-Town? Old pic...New pic..side by side. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU. Jake N Jude
Hey Russ, we are already doing that (See Sharon Bierman, Anita Harmon, Eric Larson, etal). Cougs, if you want a current picture shown with your high school pic, please send me one and I'll add it.

Message: OK... The King just came home with my Valentine's gift...and no, it wasn't 4 more diamonds for my ring! Here's what I'm worth to him.. A 4.5 OZ BOX OF DISNEY MOOSE MUNCH.. ( better known to most as poppycock ) AND A CARD.. The card cost more than the Moose Munch..and btw--he gets a cash discount of 40%! He keeps yelling in to eat the Moose Munch as there are 4 diamonds in there some where. He knows I'm on a diet too.. lose/lose for me today, but I can't think about it today, I'll think about it tomorrow. (Scarlet O'Hara )
I love that Moose Munch stuff. I thought that was Harry and David, not Mickey Mouse. Hide it from him, say you ate it, and give it to me.

Message: Okay...take the commercialization out of Valentine's Day and flash back to elementary school when you made your own Valentine's Day cards out of pink and red construction paper and a paper doily. It really didn't matter what it said -- it really was the thought that counted. And remember decorating a box for boxed lunch day? I vaguely remember the girls having to draw names from the boys in our class, then decorating a shoe box or something similar and bringing them lunch in it on Valentines day. I can only remember doing that once and I think it was 3rd grade. Have a SWEET day JB!
Try that nowadays and see how far it goes. Thanks Anita.

Message: Happy birthday Doris. Sorry you have so few diamonds Judy Wudy. LOL The biggest and best diamond you have is Janny Wanny. I've been married 25 years this year, maybe I should start lobbying for a newer, bigger ring. I could withhold cooking and cleaning, and nurturing from Jim. Oh wait, I guess you have to do something before you can stop doing something. Happy Valentines day to everyone on CT.

Message: On HHS Cougar of 69 Rich Greedus' Passing, he is the last of the Greedus clan. I loved him as a brother for 50 years. His grandfather, Andrew Greedus was the right hand man of Henry Ford! Rich told me how Ford relied on “Andy” to build and tinker and design many of Ford’s ideas, Ford was of German heritage and spoke with a thick accent, so Grandfather Greedus became known as HANDY around the Ford Assembly Line in Detroit, actually filling the position of Henry Ford’s Handy-Man. The story was especially powerful to me because I was named after our Great Grand Uncle Hector P. MacNeil, who in fact was the go-to / Handyman of Alexander Graham Bell. I told Rich since Bell & Ford were contemporaries that it is quite possible Uncle Hector & Grandpa Handy probably knew each other also …small world!

Message: Hey John, as you now I LOVVE YOU MAAAAAANNNN and I love that Millman guy too. I would like to add a little bit to the narrative of that big stick of Ted Hastings that helped HHS defeat the top team in the state in 1974. I happened to be standing next to teacher Bill Featherstone as that play unfolded--I was doing my service as a Knight and Featherstone was down with me. Hastings came up very big with the stick, as Clark says, and the fans were indeed stunned--there was a collective gasp on our sidelines on the east end of HalCap Field. Featherstone turned to me, and said, "That's the greatest tackle I've ever seen in my life." You know, I have seen a few tackles myself in subsequent years and I know this: none were more memorable. None. And I should add this: it was the youngster Millman that kicked the field goal in that game, an entirely rare occurrence in itself for HHS, that sealed the victory over the top-ranked team. That was a great gridiron moment at HHS, certainly one of the best ever, and people remember two things from that game: Hastings' big stop and Millman's big FG. For those of us who knew Ted from intermediate school, it was the fruition of a grand journey distilled into a most appropriate moment, as he was far and away the dominant athlete at our school in 7th and 8th grade, when I had many basketball battles with him that ended in heartbreak for yours truly but also in admiration for a man we knew at Hawthorne Intermediate as "The Kid." Peace and boat drinks, Joseph
See now, that is the stuff we need more of, here on the old feedback page. Good old HHS stories. Thanks Joseph for sharing yours, and if anyone has MORE HHS stories, sports or non-sports, please do not hesitate to add them here.
