Message: Seems like life keeps moving faster, but I keep moving slower, and the more stuff I try to remember, the more I find myself forgetting. Time slips by, but birthdays never wait... so I'd like to wish a belated happy birthday to Eileen Fallone Tamburino, Linda Hansen Messeri, Larry Marquiss, Ray Sadowski, Joy Smith Clark, Bob Gunnin, August Thornton, Eileen Beck, David Ryan, Mary Hamilton, Phillip Powers, and Rick Tennant. I believe that they have all now crossed the threshold into their salty and sassy 60's. Wishing you JB and every Cougar all the magic and wonder of the season. Merry Christmas ~
Happy Birthday to all above and thanks Anita for being a great Ctowner. Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

John, thanks again for all you do to keep us all in touch.

Message: I have not checked in for sometime, but I read the posts all of the time and I love them all. I had kinda a Cougar siting today. I was at the nail salon and started chatting with the gal sitting next to me. Don't know how it happens but we both started talking about where we are from, and guess what. YEP she is a Hawthorne girl but was raised in Anaheim. Her Mom, Aunt and Uncle are all graduates of HHS. The Metzger family, Dallas, Sandra and Clark. We had a great chat and loved talking about Hawthorne. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Don't forget to Smile and HUG alot. I don't think that anyone will ever be able to Thank John enough for all that he does to keep such a beautiful place for us all to meet. Love, Jan, Jerry and the Peterson (Freeman) Clan
Hi Jan, Dallas Metzger just checked in yesterday and will be adding her name to the class of 54 Alumni List. Thanks for the great Cougar Sighting and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Message: We also had the bubble lights on our Christmas tree. One year I painted little red dots on them using nail polish. It looked awful. I don't know what made me do that. It must have been Georgette's idea. :)

Message: I always thought it was Marion Michael Morrison too, so I double check and IMDb had John Waynes name listed the other way. So put it the way IMBd had his name listed. Sometimes you just can't win and Cougartown feedback will call you on it... if your wrong:-)

Message: Larry, I don't recall those lights you mention your grandmother had on her tree but yes I bet they looked great on the tree. Does anyone remember the color wheels that would sit on the ground and you shined on your Christmas tree and it turned & it had four colors, red orange blue, green. We had a silver metallic tree one year, then I remember one year we had a blue flocked tree, I must have been out of my mind when I look back on it, but at the time we thought it looked cool with all the tinsel on it. I don't think anyone puts tinsel on their trees anymore. I rememeber helping my mom put the tinsel on one by one to make it straight. My brother would get tired of doing it and would just throw it on the tree and it was one big bunch. Mom didn't appreciate that much and never asked them for their help decorating the tree. I remember one year a couple of days after Christmas my mom was out and I asked one of my brother who will remain nameless if he would mind taking the bulbs off of the tree for me and I'do the rest because I had to take a shower & get ready for work. He said no problem, The next thing I remember hearing was a quick ping ping ping and what sounded like glass breaking and my brother and his friends laughing really hard like the fools they were at that age. I come out of the shower to see them with this little bebe or pellet gun actually shooting the ornaments on the tree. Needless to say he was in soooo much trouble. Little brothers at that time were such a pain but I'll tell you they are both my very best of friends to this day and I love them so much!!! Paco be safe travelling to Boston. It's beautiful there this time of year, I'm from Cambridge Mass, and Boston University is a wonderful university. Merry Christmas everyone....
Thanks Madeline and Merry Christmas

Message: Just wanted to wish my Hawthorne friends, old and new a very Merry Christmas! I have enjoyed reading the posts this year, and have been amused by some of the controversies. All in all, this is a great website, and look forward to reading more memories of the town I grew up in. Everybody stay safe and enjoy your families. John B, thanks for your thankless job of keeping us in line and on topic. We all appreciate you!
Thank you Jill and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Message: John, thanks for another year of "moderating" the occasionally immoderate Cougartown feedback page. It's always interesting reading about other's memories, and occasionally posting something. Anyone else remember those glass, candle shaped, multicolored Christmas tree lights (mid '50's?) that heated up to boiling and bubbled? My grandmother always had those on her tree through the early 60's and I thought they were cool to sit and stare at. Now I just sit and stare. ;p Merry Christmas to all.
Hey thanks Larry and Merry Christmas man.

Message: 24 HRS of "A Christmas Story" starts Fri, Dec 24 8:00 PM on TBS. I don't have strong willpower, so I will break down a watch "A Christmas Story." I believe if Marion Robert Morrison was a live today, he would be very troubled with the direction this country is going, John Wayne being a true American. I bet he has traveled through Hawthorne a few times in his day. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years to everyone.
I thought it was Marion Michael Morrison. Merry Christmas Robert

Message: John - There is also a Guiliani's on the corner of Hawthorne Blvd and Torrance Blvd. The original is in old town Gardena. I worked at Stellinos my freshman year. Spent New Year's Day 1960 in the cooler staring at the picture of my sophomore girlfriend. A week or so later she dumped me for some senior named Zeke Montanez. After a month Zeke dumped her and that's how he and I became friends. I reminded him of that at the Cerritos concert. He even remembered her name. Great guy.

Message: Hi Mike. I remember Stellinos very well. Wasn't it on Inglewood Ave around 135th St? We got all of our Italian food there, mild sausages, provolone, mozzarala and ricotta cheeses all from there. Every Sunday my mom's spaghetti dinner all from Stellino's!!!! It's no longer there now sadly and I haven't found another Italian store like them. There's Sorrentino's but its all the way in Culver City but Stellino's was the best. Does anyone remember Rocco's Pizza on the corner of Inglewood ave around 137th? I remember the great meatball sub sandwich from there, that place sadly too is no longer there....
Madeline try Giulianos in Gardena.

Message: Rain , rain, go away. In my "ute", I lived on 138 st & Inglewood Ave (across the street from the Pepper's family, Jim, Sandy & Sherry). I remember when it would rain really hard, Inglewood Ave would become a river. I worked at Stellinos & had to wade across the street to get there.... Nancy Brooks parents had a great hardware store near that intersection. I wonder if the water ever got near their front door?...
Thanks Mike and I do not know. Nancy (Cheryl), can you help?
