Message: It's not a negative attitude, it's what has been presented. Hawthorne became a city in 1922, most of the city employees came out of the Badlands, the heartland of the US. If you go back and look at the police and fire departments you'll find that some of the first men on the departments during the first 20 years, were from Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Texas. These were some of HHS's students fathers and uncles. The parks and recreation department employed fathers and mothers from these same states, as well as others. At the City Employees picnics during the 60's you would always hear the good natured banter between the employees about their home states. The sons and daughters of these parents grew up with spirit of their fathers and mothers and have continued to carry it on. I'm all for CT and the contents, how it brings all of us HHSers together. Facebook is an added site where the humor continues.
OK, what has been presented that you don't like?

Message: It's Christmas time and most of us are caught up in the "Rush to the Finish", so to speak. But today is the day that we might stop and remember the horror that was perpetrated on America and American citizens 69 years ago. I believe that we should each take a moment today to remember the sacrifice that our fathers and grandfathers, mothers and grandmothers made which allows us to celebrate as free people in this great country we call America. We owe our freedom to them and all the men and women since and before who have made that sacrifice. Merry Christmas and God Bless America!
Thanks Tom and Merry Christmas

Message: Wow football talk other than SC. Amazing! A couple of Hawthorne families Sloey's and Greasby's, all grads of HHS, having fun on the Alumni website. OU/NU, Big Red/Boomer Sooner, The real "Dust Bowl Game, seems like old times. Hawthorne was founded and built by Dust Bowl people. The tradition continues. Sharon, my best to your grand-daughter. I pray she returns safely from this non-sense we're involved in...Hope everyone had a family filled Thanksgiving and will have a Joyful Christmas! Keep the Pac 10 strong and Go Ducks and why is the Cardnial not playing in the Rose Bowl? Oh wait, this has nothing to do with Hawthorne!!! My Bad. Go to facebook for the answer!!!
Hawthorne was founded 30 years before the dust bowl and what's with the attitude, Wade. If you don't like Cougartown, use facebook

Message: Hiya CT, One of the things I love to do at this time of year is reminisce by looking thru the CT pages of Christmases past. Almost like revisiting childhood Christmases! Thanks King John for creating and maintaining our magical neighborhood. V5
I do that too as we've been around long enough to have our own CT history, Thanks Patty.

Message: About the comment of moving to Facebook; Facebook is open to "ALL" Fans of College Football...Unlike, Cougartown... Sympathies run high for the Scarlet and Gold, of Troy... Or Boise, right MaryAnn? LOL :-) Jim, sorry for your loss... It was a great game, all the way around... The Sea of Red, the Venue, and the History of the Schools... You couldn't have asked for a better ending of 2 Dynasties...What a way to break the tie! It was the first time I actually sat and watched an "Entire" Oklahoma football game... Like my sister stated, "The Sooners" are a hard team to watch... We get very nervous and need to pace... Yes, my dad would have been calling ALL the Huskers loyals and collecting on his V.O. bets....Our cousins, the Huskers side of the family, would be calling to congratulate him on his "Lucky Win." Its not that we are letting the Victory "Chill", we are just doing what comes natural and being Humble. No reason to say a word...... Ya, Right.... Go Big Red! Losers! Couldnt score in the ENTIRE 2nd half... WTH, happened? Love ya, Jim :-)

Message: Sharon, my prayers are with your granddaughter. I lived in Minot for 16 months, and although to us from So Cal 10 degrees is unbearably cold, in a Minot winter it's still mild. Wait till it's 30 below and the northern winds are blowing, bringing the wind chill factor to 70 below! Boy, I was GLAD to get out of there!

Grandma, Uncle Don & "Dad" Larson left for L.A. when Dad was only 3, let us know if you find the Bakery...& Merry Christmas to all

Message: In response to Mr. Sloey and the “big” game, This is the Greasby that has stayed quiet on Cougartown, however I always get a kick out of everyone’s comments. I can honestly say I’m just as big an OU fan as the rest of my family members though. It wouldn’t have been a complete football season without the Sooners playing the Cornhuskers. We always looked forward to this game. I had to step out of the room when we were losing the other night, (I guess I’m like my dad). If the Sooners weren’t playing well, he would go outside and pull weeds or something; I would just turn off the game and come back to it intermittently. If you didn’t already know, my mom’s side of the family were from Nebraska, so that always made it fun in our house during football season. I’m sorry your team lost, but it was a hell of a game! P.S. And yes, you can catch Wade & Leslie on Facebook. I’ll let them know you were inquiring about them! Take care, Stacy Greasby Lopez
Thanks Stacy for the feedback. That was easy, huh.

Message: I'm here in sunny Minot, North Dakota. It's snowing and 10 degrees. You ask why I would visit Minot in winter? I will tell you. My granddaughter is being shipped to Afghanistan and this is my last chance to see her before she leaves. Please pray for her. Also, I am probably going to start a ruckus here, but I feel it has to be said. I feel it is rude to tell people to contact you on FB from CT if you are an HHS grad. Yes, I use facebook, but mostly for people who are not Cougs. I have CT people on my facebook too, but I use both and I think John deserves better than to advertise FB on CT. Just my opinion. Have at me if you wish
Hi Sharon, I kind of felt the same way, at first, but it's a sign of the times and people use FB too. That is fine with me and just another way to stay connected.

Message: Ok there is no hate between the Sloeys and Greasbys. To show you how the class of the Greasbys I have not heard from them at all, they are not mad at me I know that they are letting their victory chill a few days. The Greasbys and Sloeys have always been friends and a Okie Husker game will never ever ruin that. Now if Popa Greasby was here and not in Heaven that might be a different approach as he would have been calling me with seconds left singing Boomer Sooner. A phone call I still wish I could receive. Kirk email with your address. Greasbys you know if it isn't the huskers I am almost glad it was the sooners! GBR!
Hey Jim, I think they've all moved to Facebook. It's just you and me buddy and I like Nebraska

Message: I am working a little project and I am looking for the HHS 1968 Graduation Class Program that was handed out the night of graduation. It has all of the names of the graduating students for 1968. You might have tucked into your yearbook. It was printed on 5.5” x 8” paper so the print will be very small. It would be easy to enlarge and fax, or if you are in the LA area I would come by and pick it up, have it copied and would then return it. Please let me know.

Message: RE Class Missing Lists: Our Class Missing Lists are usually sent to me by respective reunion committees. They were seldom updated, by me, as people checked in on the Alumni List and were virtually useless. Our NEW Missing Lists will update at regular intervals as people add their information through the Cougartown Info System, or as people are added to our Tributes page, so the lists will stay current.
Also, I know the lists don't have every Cougar listed from the respective classes and that's where I need your help. If you'd like to help update or add your class to the Missing Lists, please email me and I'll explain what we need from your class. I need help on this one Cougs, thanks for stepping up.

Message: John, I have been trying to find Fred Wade for years. I knew Fred since I was in elementary school and we were good friends. Played football with him at HHS but just lost touch after graduation. I'm with Coach, sure would like to make contact with Fred. I remember back when we were kids, I use to call him "Tex", for obvious reasons.
Hey Barney, still looking. I'll let you know if I find him.
