Message: O M G. I've been scrolling down thru the feedback pages and have enjoyed reading the different things taking me down memory lane. Can it be that the Class of 64 is turning 64? Don't know how many of you Class of 64 Alums are on FB, but Greg Bowman and April Hays Cedarburg are putting together a "Class of 64 is Turning 64" Reunion for May 2011. I've attached his "announcement" below FYI HHS Class of 1964 Reunion Can it really be 46 years since we walked the halls at Hawthorne High? It’s true, and in 2011, it will be 47 years. (See, we did learn higher math at HHS!) Let’s not wait 3 more years until our 50th to reconnect - everybody does that. Lets go for it and celebrate our 47th in 2011 - after all, most of us will be turning or have already turned 64, so it seems especially appropriate that we celebrate the Class of ‘64 turning 64! We’re hoping to get a sense of your interest level very soon, as we’d like to plan it for May, 2011. Would you please provide us with your answers to our questionnaire by November 1.
1. Would you likely attend a reunion in the Hawthorne area in May, 2011?
2. Would you prefer a 1 day or 2 day event?
3. Would you prefer a formal or casual event (or one of each if we hold it over 2 days)?
4. Would you email us addresses, email addresses and phone numbers that you Have for classmates who are not listed on Cougartown.com? And here is the kicker:
5. Would you be willing to be on the Reunion Committee? We need help! Please respond to both of us - that way the right hand (Greg) will know what left hand (April) is doing.
Greg Bowman: greg@bowmangroup.net
April (Hays) Cederburg: Cederburg@sbcglobal.net
We’re looking forward to hearing from all of you, and excited about the possibility of seeing everyone again. We’ll make it happen if you want us to. CLASS OF ‘64 ROCKS Keep updated by visiting www.Cougartown.com
Thanks Delores and do hope you have a full turnout. To the Class of 64, and all others having reunions: Please update your address and email on the Cougartown Info System as this list will be turned over to your respective reunion committees.

Message: I am collecting photos and memories of all our HHS Veterans that are on the Vietnam Wall. Everything I collect will be sent to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington and will be on display in the new Education Center across from the Wall. The Building of the Center should start soon. As a Vietnam Veteran I feel this is very important, so anyone with memories of our friends on the Vietnam page please e-mail them to me. Oh yea, not a word will be changed, anything you send will go on display exactly the way you write it. Be sure to put your name at the bottom of the page.
Sounds like a great project Dennis. I know there are many here who have memories of their friends that were lost in Vietnam. I'm sure you'll get lots of responses.

Message: I think my favorite movie at the Plaza was the "Seven Voyages of Sinbad". I must have seen that film a dozen times. It's just been re-done as the "Seven Adventures of Sinbad". While the special effects might be better than 1958 technology, nothing beats the original.

Message: Russ, Re: Plaza theater. Not only did we have to dodge flying missiles at intermission, the boys throwing pop corn at the girl's heads.. gum on the floor and under the seats.. but I think the Plaza also had a raffle ticket prize at intermission. We all had to look at our ticket stubs for the winner number. Personally, I don't recall the prizes, but someone once mentioned drinking glasses and such. Or...am I thinking of what use to come in the Duz Soap boxes.. I think there were towels in there too. Seems to me that there'd be little space left for the detergent powder if there was a whole towel in the box. (great marketing) How about the grape jelly glasses with the lids that had to be opened with the round end of a church key. I think cream cheese spread that them as well. Why, oh why do I think that John Baker still has that glass set in his cupboard. BTW - I wonder how many young people know what a church key is.
Flintstones glasses Judy.

Message: Just dropping in to catch up on Feedback. To add to Noreen's request, I have sent out emails to the class of 1970 re the same reunion. If you didn't get the info, send a request to my email. To comment on my brother Neil's Feedback, my favorite from the walk up window was the CHILI-MAC. I think it was only 25 cents, so good on a cold day. I liked it better than the "oatmeal burgers on cardboard buns". In response to the question about the letterman's jackets, the last time I priced one, over ten years ago, they were $300 and out of reach for most High School kids. If you ever owned one you know how difficult it is to get them cleaned. Leather and Wool combined make conventional cleaning impossible.

Message: One thing I remember about the Plaza theatre was during intermission you would see popcorn boxes, flattened out sailing through the air like a frisbee, whenever someone thought the ushers, remember them, weren't looking. The topper though was when one went quite astray and actually stuck in the screen. I of course never would have done anything like that. Or even sneak over to the exit door and let a few buddies in. But it was the greatest babysitting tool in the world back then for our parents. 4-5 hrs of bliss without the little darlins in the house for about a buck for the afternoon. Ahh the good ole days. Message: I am so sorry to hear about Mike Graves passing. He is one of the most pleasant guys I have ever known. Even after he lost his eye sight, he was a fun loving man. At the class of 62 turns 62 reunion, Mike talked about playing golf. He said he could beat Tiger Woods, if Tiger would play with his eyes shut. Mike's son would place the golf ball on a golf tee, set him up and he would swing and hit the ball down the fairway. I can't remember Mike not having a smile on his face. I will miss Mike at our 50th class reunion in 2012. To the Graves family, God blessed you with a wonderful man. My prayers go out to you. Dan Dye
