Message: Wow had not been here in a while and for that I apologize. As for what they should do to Hawthorne and the mall......Lets roll the clock back to oh say 1969 and keep it there...forever. Just an idea in this time of turmoil and uncertainty.

Message: I'm not sure this counts as a Cougartown reconnected love affair, but I will tell it anyway. In the summer of 1965, Bill Ennis (66) and I took a trip to Knotts Berry Farm. It was an especially beautiful day, and we were feeling especially amorous, so we took the plunge in front of Judge Roy Bean. I still have the bent nail ring to prove it. After many long years of separation, we found each other again through Cougartown. Soooo, on another especially beautiful day, we found our way back to Knotts Berry Farm and Judge Roy Bean and took the plunge again. We each have a shiny new bent nail ring to prove it! We, too, got married....never quarreled....never fought....laughed all the time....had the perfect life & lived happily ever after.....Him on the West Coast, and me in Tennessee! Snicker, snicker. I love you my first and last husband!!
That counts Sherry, Great story of rekindled "amorization" Thanks very much.

Message: Your togetherness reminds me of my life from beginning to end. I graduated from high school with about 25 in the class. The same ones in the class from first thru twelve with very few moving in and out. I am one of four of my best girl friends still living and we communicate regularly after 90 years. We had our alumni get-togethers just like you. People came from far away places. Of course, they scattered after WWII. I think I'm trying to tell you it makes me feel like I still have roots in that little one horse town I grew up in, just like my John and you have in Hawthorne. No matter how run down or what it becomes it is still home. So glad he started this site and we all have told him so on his 66th birthday month. Thanks
Thanks Mom, Maybe I got that "love of home" from you. Anyway I can vouch for her and her girlfriends from high school. Mom and I took a trip back to her Missouri home town in about 1997 and her classmates (all 12 of them) showed for dinner one night. They gabbed about the good old days just like we do.
Always keep your roots close folks and you'll never be alone. I LOVE YOU MAAAAA!!!

Never happened. JD
Yep, Jan and Judy met here, started dating, got married and now it's been 10 years. Thanks Judy and Janny for just being my friend. Now are there any others who want to cop to a Cougartown reconnected love affair, hmmmm?

Message: Cougartown is my website of choice. However, I use other sites for family and friends not from Hawthorne. There are also school friends on my FB. With that being said. Let's make August 21st the biggest cruise night ever. Let's see if we can get everyone possible from Cougartown and our classmates from other sites to go to the August cruise night. Let's make it the biggest event of the year. Let's face it, it's free and fun, fun, fun. John, I know you work hard on this site and believe me I really appreciate what you do. I was thinking maybe you could put up a list that people could fill in if they are going to cruise night. Maybe that will get people more involved. I hope so. I really want to see this one grow, grow and grow. There is no reason not to go if you live in Southern California. Gas is lower than it was last year at this time. Come on Cougars lets show some Cougar spirit. "Be true to your school." Show your dedication to John and Cougartown by showing up on August 21st at Foster Freeze on THE BOULEVARD. Can we get over 200 people? I'm sure we can.
Hey Sharon, That would be GREAT! Thanks very much and let's just see who shows for this one.

Message: In regards to what social network i use or like ... Without a doubt .. Cougartown can't be beat for what it's worth... I call CT my "Happy Daze" Site ... CT offers a place for all of us to meet and go back in time ... To re live an old memory or share a good story ... Or to learn of info, about Hawthorne ...What makes CT so special is we all come from HHS ! When i share info about CT to others I'm so proud we have such a great site ! ... Many of us have moved to far away places .. Jim Peppers in Greece for example ... And some are still in Hawthorne, Bob and Karen Fraser! And when some interesting topic hits CT Cougars are all over it! For example we all recently spent over a week giving are ideas and comments on the mall! I use FB .... But to me it's whats going in my current time and my work .... CT is "Happy Daze" time I don't live in the past .... Some Cougars live in the past and never get past the year they graduated .... I had a choice to make last year ... My 40th reunion or work with my son on a film project .... After talking to other classmates i learned i made the right choice. Please don't that wrong .... I'm happy for those who had a good time ...But the time i spent with my son and the crew was far greater than my reun ion! I added a great experiance to my life that can't be beat .... CT is also a place where we learn of sad news. When someone dies ..... This is when we realize were getting older every day ... Enjoy your memories ... But make new ones! If it was'nt for John Baker we would'nt have CT ! We would be like so many others without. So thanks JB! You really have done something GREAT! A BIG MAHALO! ps ...I paid my CT dues did you ?
Thanks Jim

Message: The thing about Cougartown that sets it above of other social media sites is that we are all friends to start with. The friendships that we share are based on the common threads of school, city, teachers, music, restaurants, recreational activities, cars, etc. We graduated from HHS in different decades but have joined together to share our past and our present, sometimes without ever having met in person.
Well said Sharon, that's it for me.

Thanks Jim, I wonder how many old friends have been found and how many new friends have been made, across classes, right here, over the past 12 or 13 years.

Message: Michael, I think that you misunderstood my Cougartown post. I had no intention of correcting anyone. On the contrary, I thought I made it clear that no one gives a rat's buttoot if there are misspellings or grammar mistakes. It is the spirit of the site and the connections to our alma mater that I believe are important and not the grammar and spelling. On the other hand, I do think the site would be more conducive if we were allowed to express our opinions more, but that is John’s calling and perhaps it is for the best. I did get hate mail from expressing my opinion about a certain politician, so there you go. And Cindy, you split your GD infinitive, and I think you did it on purpose to make a point. That’s humor. Cougars rule! By the way, Michael, I tired to send you a personal message but apparently the e-mail address posted on Cougartown is incorrect. Jim Peppers
Did you say "I tired to send you"? I think you meant "tried", Jim See Michael, even English teachers make mistakes. Also you can express your opinion as long as it's not racist, bigoted, or political. The email addresses are here so you can say something in private to that person. The feedback page is for conveying thoughts to the masses, not to talk back and forth to one person. Simple rules from a VERY simple guy.

Message: The entire community appreciates this website and you John Baker. All the Hawthorne High Cougars are very special. As I once read, "The first day you walk into Hawthorne High School, they stamped a Cougar on your forehead... you weren't just a student. You were a Hawthorne Cougar. "Despite Facebook, your website is a dominant force. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Terrence, we'll be here for a long long time.

Message: Jim Peppers wrote: "I am sometimes astounded at the spelling and grammar. Then again, who gives a hairy rat’s ass!" I believe more people would leave comments, "If they didn't feel they would be attacked or corrected on their comments." Just my personal observation, "correct me if I'm wrong."
Attacked no, but corrected.... if I say black is white, would you correct me? Now having differences of opinion is another thing.

Message: Ditto to checking Cougartown everyday - and from half way round the world. I love the site and I think it is something that HHS grads can be proud of. As an English teacher most of my life, I am sometimes astounded at the spelling and grammar. Then again, who gives a hairy rat’s ass! I can say that, right? I am proud to tell my Greek friends about my high school internet site. They are amazed and very impressed with what you, John, and we have done. Keep up the good work. With deep respect, Jim Peppers
Thanks Jim and I guess an English teacher can use that particular colloquialism

Message: John, I would NEVER leave Cougartown for FB. You were way ahead of the social networking idea. For over 12 yrs now you have provided a unique social networking based on our Hawthorne roots, family and school history. You are one of a kind and so is Cougartown!!!
Thanks Deb for your allegiance and I know the rest of you feel the same way. I didn't mean to say you all were going away, just that the social sites are very popular and that's why the count is down here. Cougartown is not going anywhere.
