Message: I mainly went to Hawthorne Plaza for B. Dalton's bookstore, the photo developer and the Mexican restaurant. Occasionally, I'd go to J.C. Penny's. But that's it. What should it be replaced with? Hmmm. Maybe an A & W Rootbeer stand (retro-style) would be nice.

Message: I loved that mall, my family lived there even before it was built. My friends and I would ride our bikes up and down the hills of dirt they were moving to build it. Before that, we'd play around the circular park area and the streets that zig-zagged around there. After it was built, it was always great to go there around Christmas time. I loved that mall!

Message: I think the original problem with the mall is it did attract people to it, Problem was it attracted muggers and thieves, I say save your money, use the existing structure for a museum of the los angeles area, La Brea tar pits could do some exhibits and so on, then the Monkey wards and the store at the other end could be converted to live theaters, one could be primarily for "local talent" the other for the best shows that can be had, and mixed throughout would be various fine restaurants, The whole Idea would be you would be able to pick up a glass of wine and wander about until your show starts, some local art displays ext, endless possibilitys that would benefit the community in a positive manner. At least if the muggers show up again they would have an opportunity to get some class =)

Message: I love all the suggestions for the mall property. I would love to see it turned back into what it used to be. Wouldn't that be a novel idea? Everything old is new again. If any local Cougars are around this Saturday PLEASE come and express yourselves at the meeting. Our "civic leaders" and the mall owner need to hear it. (at one time about two years ago he wanted to build condos ON TOP OF THE PARKING STRUCTURE! Can you imagine what that would have been like. The meeting will be at 10 am on top of the mall parking structure, this Saturday, July 24th. Just follow the signs. Hope some of you can make it.

Message: They should a really nice Waterpark with some more outdoor activities. This would bring in people from surrounding areas and generate some income for the city. Have a outdoor theater setup like a mini Hollywood Bowl for concerts and other things. Have an indoor area that companies can rent for small conventions and meetings. Contrary to what most people think, Las Vegas was built for conventions originally. they new if they provided convention space it would bring people and then they could gamble and make more money.

Message: Hawthorne mall? How about they tear it down and replace it with nice stand-alone large screen theater with an interesting tower on the top. Maybe the theater could be built in the rococo style. The theater could be surrounded by a nice new residential area where there are detached garages with nice yards and maybe a retro taco stand on the boulevard. Hmmm…. Maybe I’m experiencing deja vu all over again?

Message: I Agree ! Take it down and build a park in it's place ! ... Then in the very middle of the park they can put a bronze sign that read's "Boy did we ever screw up " ... Ya know ... i remember how so many people tried to fight putting the mall in ... And how they said it would'nt work ... So much for urban redevelopment ! ...... and the city knowing better than their citizen's . .

Message: Thank you to Jim V, John Baker, Dave K & Keith Jones for supporting the Sunshine Kids Club; a nonprofit providing free recreational programs for children with and without disabilities. I am inviting all of YOU, my fellow HHS comrades to support this lifeline which has literally saved my daughter's life. We cofounded this non-profit to provide a space for my daughter to feel accepted and during the process, created an environment where all kids thrive, "just being themselves." Please see the attached link to read my daughter, Briana's personal story of how the Sunshine Kids Club has and continues to give her and so many others, a place to shine. WE need YOUR help! I am committed to seeing that the Sunshine Kids Club raises $8000 over the next month to make the Weekly After school and Wheelchair Basketball Programs possible for Fall 2010. With your generosity, the Sunshine Kids Club can continue to make a difference in our community. Make your donation count DOUBLE! Beginning TUES 7/21 a fellow HHS alumni will be matching all donations made between 6pm-12pm Wed. We need 25 donations of $40 to received our $1000 match. Message: I'm very sorry to hear about Tami too. I knew her but not as well as the others. I do remember her being smart and was a good volleyball player. My class (76) is I think the best class ever from any school. So many of us have stayed in contact and remain friends. Its is amazing when I see photos of any person from my class I can recognize so many of them. We had a great class. I have though ALL Cougars seem to have a closer bond to one another than I see anywhere. I think that is so cool. On another note one of our own Cougars Faelin Klein has the most beautiful charitable organization called The SunshineKids and she needs a little help. Here is
a link if you feel giving. Anything will help. Mahalo Nui Loa Oh one more thing my daughter Jaime is having a baby girl this week sometime I think. She is so beautiful.

Message: I'm heartbroken at the news of Tammy Tagami-Reeves' passing. She was one of my best friends at HHS. We would sit out on the grass at lunch, along with Debbie Brown, Paula Lutz, Patti Emde, and sometimes other volleyball Cougars. I saw Tammy about two years ago at a Young Americans workshop at El Segundo High School, where she was a VIP guest as a school board member. She looked great, and it was so good to see her. My heart goes out to Harry, Amy and Derek (who just graduated from high school). Rest in peace, Tammy.

Message: The American Indian tribe Winnebago--In prehistoric times, they were the only Siouan-speaking tribe in the Great Lakes area, and their name Winnebago, "People of the Filthy Water," is Algonquian, given to them by nearby tribes, the Sac and Fox. To us it is a motor home....Winnebago Industries was formed in Forest City, Iowa, as a community project. In the early 1950s local business people were eager to establish factory jobs for those leaving farms to seek work in Minneapolis or beyond.
