Message: Dewey and Melanie have been crazy in love (or just crazy? LOL) for some 25 years or so. It appears it took the police to facilitate the wedding - Alan, you did good! Anyway, Melanie you look beautiful and I'm so happy for you both. One of the cutest little love stories I've heard in a long time. So how many Cougars out there have married other Cougars?
OR are going with their Cougar sweety.

Message: FYI - for any Cougars who like cars and rods/railers. In Bixby Knolls in Long Beach, CA on Saturday, 7/10/2010 there is going to be a great car show that features dragsters. They do a burn out several times a day. The ground shakes and you can smell the nitro when they are burning. One of the best car shows I know. We only live a block from where it takes place. If anyone plans on going, let me know via e-mail.
Long Beach is a good show too.

Message: I went to Lawndale High school class of 65. I dated a few girls that went to HHS that is the only connection that I have with HHS. I was a little jealous of HHS because it was a larger school than Lawndale. And that the Beach Boys went there. We had Fred Dryer.
Welcome Louis, Fred was a character.

Message: This 4th of July I was a volunteer for the flag ceremony during the National Anthem at the Angels game. This is the 300+ foot long American flag that covers the entire outfield before the game. It takes a few hundred people to assemble, carry, unfurl, and wave the flag. Talk about the perfect 4th of July experience; being on the field with the ballplayers, waving this humongous flag, military fly over, peanuts and hot dogs, Angels win 11-0, and fireworks show at the end. It makes you want to shout out USA, USA, USA. I'm on the volunteer list now for future events where the big flag will be used at Angels game. If any Cougars would like to be part of the experience, send me an email and I will forward you the info next time more volunteers are needed.
Sounds like an All American day, Tom.

Message: I lost a dear friend yesterday, Sam LaSala, c/o '71, who had heart surgery in November '09, and also was diagnosed w/Liver cancer shortly thereafter, has lost his battle. He was a true 'brother' to me, having our families living in the same village in Sicily, & when they/we came to California, lived on Cedar/122nd st..just a few blocks from the Nicocia's on Broadway/Freeman..so ironic that we lived so close to each other in both countries. He was the sweetest/kindest guy. I will miss his stories of our families get togethers, & of our 'kindred spirit' upbring that we both shared having Sicilian parents that were VERY spirited/passionate, to say the least! When I get details for the memorial, I will post them. RIP my brother...I will never forget you...
Sorry for the loss of your friend, Enza.

Message: Just a warm fuzzy thought to finish the holiday weekend..All the big high school track meets are done for 2010 and all the results from all the state finals are posted..Hawthorne High still holds the national record in the mile relay (1600 meter relay now). The record was set back in 1985 and in a full 25 seasons since, no school in America has been able to break our record. For those of you not familiar with the sport, the event consists of four athletes, each running one lap around the track. Kye Courtney always considered it the premier event in track & field because it requires four quality athletes who can run like the wind. The record was set at the Texas Relays and the event honored our athletes this year on the 25th anniversary of their epic run! Another reason to be proud to be a Cougar!!
Our boys were Michael Graham, Mike Marsh, Sean Kelly, and Henry Thomas. Very odd that a record stands for 25 years in any track sport. This one becomes more special every year. Thanks Clark.
