Also want to announce my son (also a Cougar, but from Capo Valley) just got engaged. He's a paramedic in the South Bay and has some great stories of regular folks and celebrities he's helped. Wishing all the Mom's out there a Happy Mother's Day!

Message: Hello All; Happy Mothers Day! As of last Sunday my kids mother and I celebrated our 46th. Wow, time goes by so fast it just doesn't seem real. I guess part of what makes it real is having two sons in their forties, four grand kids and so many memories I can't remember them all. I don't often thank the Lord for my many many blessings but when I do I include all of my families. My wife, kids and grand kids, my extended family that includes Barbaras three sisters and their families, and my growing up in Hawthorne/Cougartown family. I am very lucky! By the way, any chance that the little blond kid in the picture looking over his right shoulder with his thumb in his mouth is our own J.B. ?? I Love you all M.S.
Hey Mike, Happy Anniversary to you and Barb. No, not me in the picture. AND after 52 years of friendship, I LOVE YOU TOO MAAAANN!!

His mom and mine were best friends when they went to high school (Leuzinger), so we go way back. Leo is, almost to the day, 2 months older than me. I will definitely bring that photo to Sonoma so Leo can see it. We can have a good laugh over it.
Looking forward to it Lee Ann

Message: Okay, well it appears we lit a little fire. Got quite a few emails explaining last minute decisions. No matter what we have scheduled the informal get together on Friday June 11 at Diablos at the Monte Carlo Casino in Las Vegas. We have plenty of people appearing to be coming. No matter what we're going to be able to get a bunch of Cougars together to have a great time in the party capital of the world. We have several people flying in from other states or driving. In fact we even have a few that have never been to Las Vegas. So be sure to come so you can give them a tour. I will be updating the website next week with the final info. Look forward to seeing fellow Cougars.
Sounds great Keith and thanks very much for doing this.

Message: Jim Schroeder's somewhat perverted sense of humor (see post below) cost many a Cougar baseball player a very sizeable chunk of change. His one-liners were always delivered just out of earshot of Coach Semon, and usually at the most intense moment during the game. The resulting laughter from the bench caused the person in charge of tracking the fines to resort to shorthand. Ten cents per offender for "not having your head in the game." No doubt, a major reason I have yet to retire. But we did have some AWESOME end-of-season parties. Trouble is, the pitching staff footed most of the bill!

Message: Hello Cougartown! Good job Keith! The economy is slow right now and people who are interested may be waiting till the last minute to schedule or may just be trying to eke out a weekend-moment to be able to attend. Who knows - life happens. I think that your back-up plan is a good one. It also sounds like you may be worried about CT's involvement -John already gave you his blessing. And I agree, this isn't about you, it's about giving the whole HHS crowd another opportunity to get together. Lastly - Thanks once again John-boy for putting this website there and creating our little e-village.

Message: Shouldn't Hector Carrillo's birthday be a national holiday? But seriously folks: I was recently stricken with a rare mutated form of gingivitis that was slowly sapping my once super-power like strength. I ended up in a coma on the operating table undergoing emergency resuscitation procedures. In my unconsciousness I saw a long dark tunnel with a bright light at the end. As I approached the light I caught sight of Dave Hobart, Mike Anderson, Crazy Craig, Carl Wilson and a host of other dearly departed friends. They were encouraging me to come to the light. Off to the side I saw El Segundo graduate, Ken Brett. He was flipping me off. Must be still mad about the Easter Tournament Baseball game. Oh, well. Suddenly I awoke on the operating table, trembling, with only this brief recollection of what happened (plus I was quite hungry). The question is -- do I get a Cougar Sighting for this close encounter of the weird kind? You seem to be quite rigid with their dispensation.
Hey Jim, quite a yarn and no credit for a sighting, but the next time that mung invested gingivitus rears its ugly head, steer clear of Dr. Beecham The Credit Dentist. Sounds like he was using a bottle of nitrous that was WAY past its expiration date.

Message: Hey, Keith Boy; Do I sense a little hostility in you post LOL. I was just making an educated observation of what was obvious to me and apparently others here on C-Town, as to what you were trying to do as a promoter. As to being a follower, maybe so, maybe not, being a follower isn't always a bad thing, I'd have to take that up with the great guys I worked with at LASD SWAT & NARCO as a team leader and led into a few fire fights, thankfully in most cases, the bad guy always got carried out in a bodybag. Hope your Vegas event works out, Mahalo, don't take any wooden nickels. Jorge

Message: Does anyone remember the tarballs at the beach? They would get on the bottom of your feet, and took paint thinner or nail polish remover to get it off? Haven't seen those in decades. It appears that my beautiful beach with its sugar-white sand is about to be covered in oil, courtesy of British Petroleum. I hear it is already destroying the Alabama coastline. It will be here any time. Glad this isn't a video link. I'd hate for you to see me cry. :(
Yep, I think El Porto was the worst for tar. Thanks Jack, for the memory and good luck with your Florida beaches.

Message: Good call jorge. I posted this event once then John volunteered to post up something about it on the side bar. Nothing yet. So JOHN put himself and Cougartown in the mix. All I did was post up something about the event here as does many many others. That is why I put together a separate website for just this event cause I didn't want to use Cougartown to promote the event. It started off strong and has slowed down. We are doing the event no matter what. I have people coming in I haven't seen since high school. So the get together at Diablos is still on and final information will be posted on But as someone like yourself who stands in the background as a "follower" and NOT as a leader many can criticize me but in the end it my name out there (not John's nor Cougartown), my time, my effort and most important MY MONEY. So as an educated scholar like yourself I am sure you can see it from my point of view. So far we have had about 45 people say they are coming. We have close to 90 people living in Las vegas and nearby from HHS alone. So, it looks like it will be a great turnout but not sure if I am willing to bet $1500+ on it. So, in closing we are having the get together at Diablos on Friday June 11 at the Monte Carlo Casino no matter what. It could be catered or not (we will know next week). If it is catered then great if not then we will just have a great party between old friends. This is Las Vegas so finding something to do with old friends is the least of anyones problems. So, Jorge can't wait to see you there and of course Bud I know you will be there too. And thanks John for all you have done
Hey Keith, Thanks for putting it out there. I'm sure you'll have a good turnout and all will be well. The main thing is getting our Cougars together.
