Message: I saw the announcement for the July 11th Hawthorne Teen Challenge Car show on the C/T website. I'm wondering if any "old" Cougars are planning to attend and bring an "old" car to cruise and park on Hawthorne Blvd. It sounds like a good time and a worthwhile charity. I'll be there with my '66 Plymouth and a moth-eaten letterman jacket. I hope to see other Cougs from the old days of A&W and 26th Street.
Hey Steve, NOW you're talkin', I'll be there too and I'm sure we'll see a few Cougs like Denny Unfried, Lee Leonard, Larry Cuiper, and Bob Fraser. If anyone's going, please let us know here so we can look for you.

Message: I remember seeing Sky Saxon & The Seeds play in the HHS gym in '66. As I recall, Sky wore a white suit, white shoes, & sunglasses. Maybe that's what inspired John Warner (HHS'67), lead singer for HHS's own "Shades Of Gray," to wear sunglasses when he performed. What about it, Johnny W? - Gibby -

Message: I remember the event with Sky Saxon and the Seeds at HHS. I was outside when they arrived in a black limo. When the band opened the door to get out, a plume of "herb smoke" rolled out with them. It was the first big name rock band I saw play live......... except for Monty and the Crystals!!!

Message: This should qualify as a Cougar sighting, or at least as a Cougar contact: When Wendy Ulve (class of 1971) now living in Rolling Hills Estates, needed a lawyer for a case in Marin County, she contacted one that she knew in Northern California, only to be referred to me. During the course of our initial telephone conversation it came out that we are both Cougars and share a love for '55 Chevys. Pretty cool!
Hey Tom, That IS a sighting and the double nickel is one of my favorites too. Thanks maaann

Message: Had a Cougar sighting in the OC. I own a couple of fitness centers, Snap Fitness 24/7, in Orange and a guy walks in to check out the club. We started talking about the Lakers championship. I told him when I was a kid, I would actually ride my bike to Lakers games since I lived just a few miles from the Fabulous Forum. After a few minutes, I found out he lived just three blocks away from my parents' house and went to school with my sister, Val. Mario Carrera HHS '84 is the newest member of Snap Fitness. BTW-There's a brand new Costco next to Memorial Park. It's a business Costco that's having an Expo 7/9-10, with some big savings. Not many people know about it. Took my parents there last week and all the cashiers were just standing around; no lines at all.
Hey Tom, Great sighting. Thanks very much...

Please give a heads up next time so I can be there, or at least stalk you for a few days. And a VERY HAPPY anniversary to my big brother Steve Bierman (71) and his lovely bride Michelle Buguy Bierman (74) who have spent 35 wonderful years together as of June 22. You are terrific parents and role models and I thank you for the lessons you have taught me over the years. And lastly, for all you folks that have ordered Cougartown T-shirts in the last week, please forgive my tardiness in shipping; I have been out of town - BUT - am back now and all orders ship out tomorrow. Get 'em while they're hot folks; they're going fast!!!!
Thank you Shipper Sharon and welcome back. Hope you had a great time wherever it is you get off to now and then, and a BIG Happy Anniversary to Steve and Michelle.

Message: Dale Hahlbeck: Very distressed to hear about your stroke! Hope you are doing well now! I had one in May of '92, 17 long years ago. Came out of it o.k. with only paralysis on my left side. No warning signs for mine either! Had my annual physical three days prior to it. Doctor informed me I was" Healthy as a horse" and he would see me next year. Unfortunately I saw him a week later in intensive care at Little Company of Mary. Know that you are in my prayers and God spared us both for a reason, let's find what that reason is! You were a great team-mate and I always had the highest respect for you, hang in there!!

Message: At last! A totally serendipitous sighting of a brother Cougar. Bill Young and I flew into LAX, rented a car and proceeded to Manhattan Beach and El Tarasco's for a burrito (el grande) and who should be sitting there but Greg Shambaugh -- who lives in San Jose? Is this a wacky world or what? Had a great time playing golf with a gaggle of Cougars in the San Diego area thanks to Bart Graves. Perhaps Mr. Fraser will be posting a picture or seven? And a grand fathers day to all of us.
Now THAT'S a Cougar Sighting!! Thanks Jimbo...

Message: Happy Father?s Day to all you Dads out there and to all you single parent Moms who fulfilled both roles! It being Father?s Day, for me it is a day for reflection on being a Dad, and its joys, sorrows and responsibilities that go along with it. Before becoming a parent, I never thought I would have said that ?being a parent is the hardest job I?ve ever had?, but I can say that now. I?m not saying it?s a bad job, but to do a good job takes enormous patience, wisdom and love (not necessarily in that order). It is also a good measure of how fast time flies. Yesterday, I went to my daughter?s high school graduation at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester New Hampshire. It seems like only the day before that I attended her kindergarten graduation in SoCal. In the fall, she?s off to college to become an elementary school teacher and I couldn?t be more proud of her. My son Hayden will be 16 next month and is currently the ?challenging? part of the aforementioned parent equation. So to my fellow Cougs, make it a great day! Look at old family photos/videos, grill something, share old stories and by all means spend it with family if you can ? Cheers!
Hey Rick, Well said, before you know it, it'll be grandkids coming to your Fathers Day BBQ. My daughter and family are 150 miles away and she'll call but in the meantime Mom and I are going to grill up a fish fry and watch the Dodgers and Angels. Any way you celebrate, have a great day with family and Happy Fathers Day to all.
