Message: Thanks to Rick Mc for bringing up Mr. Sweeney. Wow, that brought back fun memories at Hawthorne Intermediate. I remember his famous pickle people lecture during health class. Who remembers all the great basketball lunchtime pick up games on court 1 and playing soccer, flag football, basketball and softball against other PE squads and classrooms? We had real physical activity everyday at school. Any wonder there's a correlation between today's kids' lack of exercise at school and the rising obesity issue? Does anyone know what happened to Mr. Sweeney? Also, what was the name of the girls PE teacher?
