Message: Man! now that was an earthquake! Hawaii now can relate to California. A 6.6 on an island is intensified. I live 12 miles from the center of it. It shook so hard for about 30 seconds. My fridge ended up in the middle of my kitchen. ALmost every store was closed due to stuff just all over the place. And it was one of the most beautiful day here this year. Not a cloud in the sky and hot as heck. Only lost electricity for a couple hours. Oahu it is raining and they had no electricity for most of the day. I'm okay as is my daughter and two grand kids. My oldest grandson thought it was fun. Allot of rocks slides and roads down but no real property damage except for the hospital. I don't remember the big ones but this one was very big. I'm waiting for the volcano to blow up now. Then we might be in a little trouble. Time to buy a big boat. Thanks
Keep yer head down, Keith..

Message: Just for the Class of 62ers, I just talked with Gordon Bell on the phone and he was saying that he was in a grocery store in Grass Valley, CA talking with an HHSER, class of 89, about our HHS 62 turns 62 Reunion, when someone in line asked him if he was talking about the HHS in Hawthorne CA. Gordon said yes, and it turned out to be Barbara Crouch. She lives in that area. That's all I know. Gordon didn't get her email address but did tell her about Ctown. Barbara, I hope you check in soon. This IS a Cougar Sighting!!! It is STILL a small Cougartown World.

Message: Somewhat related to Jim's question about senior pictures displayed in color, the 1969 El Molino had the first pictures ever produced in color showing candid moments or events....quite a shock to us really...But looking at the '76 reunion video...some moments during that year were still captured in good old B&W....somehow, to me, while memories are in vivid color, the "times" seem better when photographed in Black and White...(again my hay penny's worth).
Hey John, Yes, I do not know when, or if, the entire El Molino was captured in living color, but the 1998 El Molino (last one I have) still has B&W pics.

Message: While browsing through '62 reunion pictures, the name Linda McDowell rang a bell. If she lived anywhere between 137th St &, say, 132nd St. (or so), she well may have baby sat me! My mother & her mother were good friends. I think she had a brother, too, although his name escapes me. Hmmmm...I wonder... - Gibby -
Not sure where Linda and brother Ricky lived in Hawthorne.

Hey Gib, Some earlier yearbooks had a few color pictures, but the 1976 El Molino was the first year the Senior pictures were in living color.

Message: Is anyone here is a remember of Classmates.com? I (and a friend of mine "Colleen Martin") has been searching for Tammy Duckworth. I had mention her name before but no such responds. So, I emailed my friend "Colleen" yesterday and we got the talking and I found out Tammy had an older sister named "Donna Duckworth". Well, the are both not in cougartown nor Classmate.com. Well, I decided to search even further. It wasn't in cougartown but in classmate that I discovered a name "David Duckworth" class of 62. Doe anyone knows HIS whereabout? Maybe he's a Father or Uncle or some distant family? Any infro would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Raymond, Don't remember David, but there was a Stanley Duckworth in the class of 63, but he's not on our list.

Message: On the subject of Cougar sightings, I had one, too. Mine wasn't a fun one. Driving to work (I work in the mountains), along Hwy 299W, there was a fully grown cougar that, unfortunately, lost a one-on-one contest w/ a passing vehicle. Unusual to have one of these big cats just a mile beyond the city limit sign, although not uncommon to see them where I work.
Hey Gibby, thanks for the Cougar Sighting.

Message: Hi, John. I regularly read the postings here but rarely add anything. But I had a fun Cougar sighting this a.m. I need to share. I applied to El Camino College for jobs they have open and went to test today. Ran into Nancy Sowards c/o 1973. After going thru the "you look familiar" conversation, we shared what we've been doing the past 30+ years. She and I have lived parallel lives - stayed home with kids while they were young, worked parttime while they were little; and now that they are grown we are both job hunting for full time positions. It was great to chat, but too brief. She had to run after our test, and we failed to exchange email addresses. If anyone knows how to reach her, I'd appreciate the info. I'd love to reconnect with her further. Thanks. And keep up the great work here at Cougartown, John.
Hi Debbie, GREAT Sighting; Bonnie Sowards Sanders may be her sister on the 1975 Alumni List. You might want to email her.

Message: Great HHS 76 "Scarlet and OLD!" reunion news! The DVD of the reunion is done, the CD of stills/candids is done, AND the DVD produced by John and Gloria (and provided courtesy of that dynamic duo)is done! All 3 will be in the mail in the next week, to everyone who paid for a full price program ticket. I'm so pleased with the DVD and I know you all will be too. It's so beautifully done, by a friend of my son's. He films, edits, reproduces, and does a great job. If anyone needs a Videographer I am happy to give him a recommendation. His name is Nick Brosco and his company is called Blue Edge Media. I will give you contact info if you email me. We are still working on the memory book so bear with us, but this should keep you happily busy for a while!

Message: John, The 40 year reunion for the combined classes of 1966 and l967 will be held on July 21, 2007 at the South End in Torrance. Our early estimates are that it will cost $60 - $65/per person and we are looking for people who can help us with the $1,000 deposit by paying for their fee now. Anyone from these classes that would be willing to put together a video presentation at the reunion please contact us. The current videos on "feedback" are really great and it would be nice to have something similar. Any questions? Contact me or Judy Zaccaglin Storie or Pat Duran Morrow.
Hi Linda, That is GREAT!! OK, everyone step up to the plate and send a check in today. I'm serious, as lots of people think; well, July is a long way off so I'll wait to pay, not realizing the BIG cost is for the venue and has to be paid up front. Please help your committee and get your checks in soon. Also, Class of 66 and 67, please make sure your address information is up to date so you can be found by your reunion committee members. Go to the Cougartown Info System to do that. Thank you Linda, Judy, and Pat for taking on this dual-class reunion.

Message: Okay class of 77, I just mailed out information regarding our 30 year class reunion, and have the paper cuts to prove it! I mailed out only to the people who emailed me their address. So, if you want me to send information to you, please email me and I will send it right off to you. I have been getting questions on if we plan on inviting other classes to the reunion. We do have limited space, so the priority is the class of 77. I should know in March/April about other classes. We would love to have everyone come, but space is limited. The class of 77 does have a web page now, it is www.hhs77.com. It's not quite ready to go yet, but it will be soon and will have additional information regarding the reunion, plus other goodies. Mike Hinsch has volunteered to put together a DVD, so if you have any pictures from your HHS days, please send them to him. We are trying to get pictures that are not in the yearbook. Thats it for now. Dust off your party hat, cuz we are going to boogie!
Jill, Just so your class knows, Cougartown emailed you all the Class of 77 address info it had too, right?

Message: Big Keith Jones! I was hoping you would check out the video. There was a guy playing baseball that looks just like you! Well, at least the way we looked 30 years ago. We missed you at the reunion buddy. Everyone needs to listen to Mr. Baker-man, "Make time for your reunions; they are magical." They are worth every minute of planning. Just ask Sharon B, She's still recovering and should be out of the hospital in a week or two. :)
