Message: This morning I was on Mark & Brian's "I Want a crack at that" and although I didn't win, I went into a tie with my opponent and lost. But I was leading into the 10th question! Did anyone hear me this morning? Hope everyone is having a great day and a great weekend. We will be leaving for our honeymoon next Thursday, we are going to Kauai. Take care everyone.
Hey Jill, Is Mark and Brian still on the air? Haven't listened to them since the mid 90s. I'm sure someone heard you and thanks for letting us know.

Message: West High Warrior sighting and HHS Cougar Connection! Overheard a customer in my office today mention Hawthorne so HAD to investigate. He's Chuck Fick, son of Charlie Fick, former Hawthorne cop and sometime subject of conversation right here on CT! Chuck lives right across town from me (for 28 years 0- didn't know that!) and went to West class of '72. He mentioned a number of Cougars but right now I can only recall his mention of Mike Lewis, c/o 75. Knew him through baseball and college at Pepperdine. I've invited him to CT and told him he's expected to post and not lurk. Also described Cougle to him - I think he'll check in shortly!! Welcome Chuck!
Welcome Chuck and thank you Sue....

Thanks to all those who submitted pictures from the reunion, some of which are part of the slide show section of the video. There is a very cool monolog from Coach Hal Chauncey, which makes the video!

Message: Cougar sighting! My cousin in San Diego just married the daughter of John Lococo ('72) and Toni Farrelly (I think class of '73). That's two sightings... but wait, there's more! Another wedding family member was Terri Farrelly (class of '74 I think). And three family friends were also in attendance... Chris and Randy Leonard and Mike Scheutze (Woody)! The picture from left to right: Toni, Terri's daughter I think, Chris, Terri, me, Mike, and my sister Michelle. The other picture is Randy, John, and Chris. I'm supposed to ask Wade Greasby if he ever learned to let go while water skiing...
Hey Cindy, Sounds like a GREAT Cougar sighting. Thanks for the pictures and glad you all had a fun time.

Message: RE Sports History Page:
Our Sports History page is up and running. No stats yet as we need lots of help. Please go to the Sports History page and see if you can help in any way. We need scores from all sports in mostly all years. If you have old Cougar Newspapers you can get scores from those, as well as from El Molinos. If you have access to say the Daily Breeze archives, then that would be a good source too. Anyway, this will be a LARGE task, taking probably years. It's kind of like searching out our HHS genealogy, but will be well worth it in the end. Thanks in advance Ctowners for your efforts. If you have questions, please ask them here as others may want the same answers answered.

Message: Hi Leta!!!! It's me, I can't believe it. I have been trying to reach you for all of these years and I didn't know where you were. I thought you were in Diamond Bar, I even went by your old house off of Prairie but I didn't think your family was there any longer. I've only recently come across this web site and thanks to that I was able to reach Diana and Gloria Serra, remember her???? You are so right there are so many things I'd love to catch up with you about, your family, your parents and brothers, Chopper was your little brother if I remember right. I live in Redondo Beach and my phone number is 310-XXX-XXXX. I work in Beverly Hills and the number is 310-288-4437, please feel free to call me anytime and hopefully all three of us can get together soon....I'm so glad to see you're still in California and well...Take care, Madeline
Hi Madeline, Please do not give your home phone out on the website. It's really not a good idea. Go down to Leta's feedback and click on the Blue Email in her post, then you can email your phone number to her and catch up that way. Thanks very much.

Message: Been here in Boise for several days. 70's very nice. One of my favorite places was Balboa Park on week-end nites. I loved going with KSH class of 62'. If Pete C. gave his evil eye to some pro line backer they would straighten his nose out for him. But he can coach where he wants to. Like him or not he is a great coach. Don't forget that the UCI "eaters" are coached by Mike Gillespie class 58' That baseball team is already ranked 4th. There are some pictures of Mike on the UCI web site. Looking good at 67 yrs.
Thanks Carl, but Pete Carroll is not going anywhere.

Message: John-Haven't checked in for a long time. I've had a unique problem of late. I had the Beach Boys tune, 'Be True To Your School' as my ringtone on my phone for over a year. But a few weeks ago, I began to hear the tune in my head. A couple of times I ran for my cell, but it wasn't ringing. It got progressively worse, so I changed my ringtone to 'Ruby Tuesday' - Rolling Stones. I'm still hearing the old tune, 3 - 4 times a day. Do I need therapy? Or do I need to attend the next Cruise Night! Betty
Isn't it obvious, Betty, you are Cruise Night deficient. "3 deuces and a 4 speed and a 389" was dancing through my head until I showed up at Fosters in August. Cruise Night cured everything.

Message: Debbie, 7 of the class of 76 Cougs you mentioned were at our 30th reunion last year. It was advertised many times on these pages. Alan, John A, Kathy, John L, Jim, Joann, and one unnamed. Take note, all of you lurkers out there who don't go to your reunions- you will live to regret not going! And when you DO go, please be fair and buy a ticket - the people who work so hard to put the reunion together are usually spending their own money to make it happen. The very least you can do is support the event so they can get reimbursed for their expenses. The 76-30th reunion was an absolute BLAST.

Message: We took a much needed 4 day trip. We awoke to rain at the Welk's Resort in Escondido on Saturday. We decided to go to Temecula for a country breakfast. We were surprised to see all the streets closed off, and Marines and police taking care of the area. There were 630 registered Classic/Vintage cars on Main Street, side streets, and parking lots. Frustrated owners wiping off the rain after it stopped, and it became a beautifully sunny day. The highlight for me was the 1956 Chevy HAWTHORNE police car owned by David Ball of '77 Leuzinger. He even sounded the siren. One car had an authentic machine gun as a stand at the corner of the passenger side. What fun we had those 6 hours in that historic 1882 town, and to have Hawthorne represented there.
I've seen that police car at the Hawthorne Car Show. It is authentic right down to its Motorola police radio. Thanks Adrianne....

Message: Was doing an internet search to see how poorly HHS football team was doing but did I just read it right? They beat Morningside 3-0????
Sorry Ray, They play Morningside on the 26th of October. So far Hawthorne has scored 19 points this year and has had 273 point scored against them. I know Hawthorne has some real good football players too. It might be time to have a talk with the Coach. If you click on the link above that says "Cougar Sports Action" you'll get the standings.

Just got an email from one of my favorite Sooners...there are only a few-and she agrees with me, Turner Gill it is. And while we're on the subject of college football, the rumor about Pete leaving for San Diego seems to be getting some legs. If Mike Garrettt goes with him I have the perfect candidate for the SC AD job, he just got unemployed today! GBR!

Message: Debbie Johnson c/o '76 mentioned looking for Alan Campbell...in the early 60's his family lived across the street from our family on 139th st in Holly Glen. At some point they move to 133rd/Ramona, we still saw them often...sadly in the late 70's both his parents died. They were sweet people...does anyone know what happened to Kurt Campbell, Alan's older brother?

Message: Amazing how Chucko brought the kiddies out of the woodwork (I can just picture Suzie dancing to his birthday diddy). The ol' clown is still alive and living up in the Pacific Northwest and his son took over the role for a while. Chucko even has his own website: http://www.chuckotheclown.com/. By the way, I saw Chucko appear at a Food Giant Market on Western Ave. and Imperial Highway back in the hey-day.
