Message: Speaking of the barbeque places, didn't BBQ Pete's have a large bird, like a peacock or something along those lines behind glass? Also, my family used to go to a place called Sterns it could have been in Culver City or Westchester, I know my parents loved going there. It seems like everytime we would go out to eat I would spill my malt, milk or coke on my father. I was then and still am a total and complete klutz!
Hey Sheree, I don't remember the Peacock, but I DO remember the Chicken and it was great.

Message: Just some email and phone contacts with 59'ers hunting people down for the 09' reunion. John Niemela, Terry Sheldon, Rose Kindseth, James Kendall and Eddie Williams. All contacts were found from names on the Alum list John, starting with John Kinseth younger brother of Rose. Some one remembers that they heard so and so was last living in Lumpuckeroo and the fun starts there. Do these count as electrical sightings? Without Ctown none of this would have been possible. Also learned that famous surfer Donnie Mulhern HHS 58 is living in Fla. and building surfboards. Along with finding other classmates we also learn of ones that have passed away. Jim Kendall said that Glen Miller died about a year ago. All Cougars, if you know of classmates not on alumni list get them on board. Thank You John Baker, I have had a fun day talking with fellow Cougars.
Oh my God, Carl, this subject came up just a few days too early. I'm right now in the finishing stages of an Alumni address collection database. I want you ALL to add your addresses to this list. It will be the Holy Grail of Cougar contact lists, although none of you will be able to look anyone else up, your reunion committees will. This is what I've been striving for since Ctowns inception. A way to totally keep track of EVERYONE, so Reunion committees can forget the daunting task of starting over every 10 years. Thanks Carl for the Kudos, but hold your applause for two more weeks and one more year of collecting.

Message: I asked if anyone from the LHS For All Classes site knew of Terry Honeycutt and found out there was an Otto Honeycutt who played football back in the 50s at LHS. Terry could be Theron's nickname? Anyway, I think we're getting closer!! BTW, I had a very good time at Cruise Night and it was so good seeing everyone and meeting some new ones. What a fun get together. I loved the cars too. KK
Me too, Karen, thanks for being there.

Message: To Cindy Whittaker ... I knew a Theron Honeycutt who went to Leuzinger. Also knew one of his brothers, but can't remember his first name; however, it was NOT Terry. Terry could be a younger brother, I suppose. Theron would have to be around my age or older I would guess ... I'm 66, so ??? Don't know if this helps, but thought I'd mention it.
Thanks for the help, Doris, and thanks for leaving a Feedback too. I didn't think this thing was working.

Message: Cougar sighting. My Brother, Bob is married to Marlyn Johnson and it is not unusual to see her. This last weekend she stayed with us and brought her sister Maridel(class "63) with her. If you remember her as MISS Everything you have the right girl. I think she was head cheer leader, held some class office, was homecoming queen and prom queen. Other than that she had a quiet stay at HHS. It was good to see her after 15 years of only hearing stories of her and her family in Washington.
Hey Gary, I remember Maridel as a very nice person who had a great personality. Nice to hear her name mentioned and thanks for the sighting.

Message: I remember CB's. My brother had one in his truck and we hooked up a thing called a Linear(?) It made it really powerful. We were up at our cabin in Running Springs and we park on the side of a hill that was open to all the San bernandino area. You could see for many miles. We got on the CB and was talking to someone who ssaid they were on Aviation Bl. and 120th I think. Man we thought is was so cool to talk to someone so far away like that. This Linear was so powerful. We could go down the street and talk on the CB and it would go through peoples TV sets. I used to yell at Mike Kristich through his TV set. He would come running outside. The TV had to be on

Hey Cindy, See you made the trek from Gig H to BIG "T". I looked in the books and no Honeycutt in there, so must be an Olympian, Good Luck....

Message: I was just Instant Messaging my dear hubbie and it reminded me of the CB craze in the mid 70's....anyone else remember sitting in your dad's truck, running the battery down waiting for someone to say "breaker breaker"? I remember sitting in the driveway and a car full of guys driving by trying to find out where the signal was coming from...Dad telling me to get in the house but secretly being thankful I wasn't tying up the phone....The cool kids had full on set-ups in their bedrooms and an antenna on the roof of their house. Can I get a 10-4???
10-4 Good Buddy.... or was it Bud Goody? Thanks for that memory flogger, Laura. I worked at Pace Radio in Harbor City in the mid 70s, and did get my fill of the jargin. Had lots of friends that lived in the Lomita area then, and is a BIG reason why I live here today. I love this little town.

Message: It was good to see everyone that attended the cruise in on Sat. As I look through all the people that have come and enjoyed Cougartown for the past 10 years, I have noticed that many people have not taken the time to submit their dues. Some may not even know about them. $10.00 per year is nothing for all the joy this web site has given to us. Rekindling old friendships, and making so many new ones has brought happiness beyond my wildest dreams. Yes it was fate for all of us to be a Cougar, but its an honor to be a member of Cougartown. John runs the web site for the love of his fellow Cougars, but with your membership dues paid, he could give us even more! I'm proud to be a member of Cougartown. ARE YOU?
Hey Wayne, Thanks for the Membership plug and thanks for coming out on Saturday Night. It's a pleasure to serve such a great group.

I was down in Costa Rica surfing in a "Legends" surfing competition and didn't get back til real early this morning. I know how much fun all of the cruise nights are and hate to miss them but since this trip was sponsored and all expenses paid for me I couldn't pass it up. Man was it good to get back into some warm water and sun again. I will be at the next one and will bring the tunes for it then.
PS. I came in 4th out of 75 competitors from around the globe. I know it is not Hawthorne related so I won't go into further detail. Cowabunga Cougs.
WAY TO GO WALTER!!! Hold up the South Bay surfin' image. We'll see you in August.

Hi Kathy, I thought we were going to have a "Class of 62 turns 62" get together but no plans yet, that I know about. The next Cougartown event is the Golf Tournament in May (see above). Then the next Cruise Night will be Sunday August 20th, and our Cougartown Picnic, not yet scheduled, but probably in September. Hope you can make at least one of these, and thanks for asking.

Message: Reference; ?Drama Dept.? - I recently received an e-mail from Ms. Pat Bagby Cougar class of '64- in response to my post concerning Mr. Fix? & his recent hurdle with a severe stroke. I am corresponding with Danny's daughter to keep updated on his health? I mentioned to Pat in an email abouta ?dramatic? story he shared with me of his clash with the ?POLE-EESSE? back in 1998- she laughed so hard that she insisted I write it up here on FEEDBACK- So for all of you who don?t know our "Lil Devil" Fix the Beloved Drama Coach ; here is the story, as he told it to me- One day in 1998 Danny Fix is riding thru Torrance on his Harley Chopper wearing his DOT reg. helmet which happens to be in the shape of a WWII German soldier Helmet. He is abruptly halted by One of Torrance finest boys in Blue, and ordered to remove the helmet or go to jail so the officer can inspect it to check and make sure it is ?legal?. Danny is summarily ticketed for not having a ?legal? helmet. Danny Fix eventually has his day in court where upon the Officer is called to the stand and explains how he saw the defendant Fix riding with said Nazi helmet and it was his sworn duty to pull him over and demand Danny remove the helmet for inspection. - We will leave or hero here for just a minute to explain 2 facts? Danny is an avid motorcyclist and has been an affiliated ?biker? since the 50?s when he returned from the Korean War as a field decorated & promoted Marine officer?so basically Mr. Fix knows the cop is way out of line to demand that he remove the DOT regulation helmet. And-Secondly- Danny has requested info to support his defense from his son who works for the United Nations in N.Y. to specifically find the three legal criteria of a Federally approved helmet- (Retention/Penetration/ Impact Attenuation)within the Federal archives in Washington D.C.- So now we rejoin our hero? After Mr. Fix has eloquently & dramatically presented his own defense in a most articulate manner he closes & sits down. The judge looks at Danny and says??Mr. Fix? Didn?t you teach me in a class at Hawthorne High School? ?And then slams his gavel on the bench and says ?The defendant is found NOT GUILTY, case dismissed.? Danny showed me the personal letter from the "bench" that specifically states he can ride legally with said helmet and is signed by the California state judge. P.S. Danny has ridden from Manhattan Beach to Sturgis S.D. on a Harley for more Bike Weeks more times than anyone would care to guess! My prayers are sent out in hope Danny recovers quickly & completely.
Ahhh Yes, I love those "Make the Man look Bad" stories.

Message: The "second in the Jerry Miles Nostalgia series," as posted on the opening page of Cougartown, is a must. Sorry for not being at Foster's John, but had this dang toothache. Contacted Roy who's looking for Lee Leonard. Lee's at Edelbrock's for the past 35+ years cranking out big horsepower. Will make the next cruise night, soon I hope ... any idea on the schedule? Any HHS's in the inland empire care to yak. E-me back. Cheers to Racer-John Baker, one heck-of-a-quarter-midget race car star. You're ole neighbor and fan, Dick Dixon
Hey Dick, I don't know about that but I talked to Lee last night and he has contacted Roy. Roy has lots of interesting quarter midget pics. You were a pretty good QM racer too, as I recall. I wish I could still get one leg in mine. We have our dad's to thank for those wonderful years in our life.
Next Cruise Night will be August 20th. Make your plans now.

Message: I have enjoyed the nostalgia pics. It reminds me of the scrapbook I threw away years ago. Boy do I wish I had kept that. Back in the day all restaurants had their names on their straw covers. I kept one for every restaurant I went to. The school made and sold paper cutouts that you wore on game day. I can't remember all of them now but I remember ones like mash the Mustangs, eliminate the Eagles but I can't remember the rest. I had all those in my scrapbook and a lot more. I also had every school paper and I didn't even save one! How stupid.
That's why you have this website, Marilyn. Sooner or later it will all show up again.
