Message: Thanks Sloey for the plug! Before my folks moved to Hawthorne, our phone number was PL7, don't know what the PL stood for, pleasant maybe? We lived near the Holly Park area which was east of Van Ness, near the Hawthorne airport. Dan, I think I remember that cuda of yours. My first car was a 73 Capri. My parents had a 62 Chevy Impala until 1974. Does anyone remember a car called the Hilman, my folks had a 1959 Hilman convertible, it was cool.
Pleasant or Plymouth. How about the old Zenith numbers. Try dialing that one without "Operator Assistance".

Message: This message is for everyone. I am looking for my father Ron Berry. I've never had the chance to meet him or even speak to him. Unfortunately, the only information I have about him is his name and that he graduated HHS in 1970. I am now 30 years old and have a husband and children of my own. I would love to know something about my father, do I have brothers or sisters...all of the questions that have been haunting me for so many years. If anyone out there can get in contact with him or can give me info, such as an e-mail address or home address so I can get in touch with him, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks.
Hi Tara, I just looked at senior pictures from 1969 to 1971 and didn't see him listed. That doesn't necessarily mean anything but are you sure he went to HHS and not another school in the area? I'm sure if someone knows him, they'll speak out. Good Luck.....

Message: Osborne 6-2378 here, remember 4 way party lines? We were on one, what a trip. We still had them at the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in Inglewood until I left in 1968. We had 2 party lines in Costa Mesa and Newport until 1970. I remember as a kid picking up the phone at a predetermined time and talk with your party line, we all new one another. There was a lot of yelling that you've been on too long also. Later...
Not me.... I always had a reason for talking and kept the conversation to 3 minutes or less.....YEAH RIGHT!!!

Message: High school cars. My first one was a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda. It was "root beer" colored and had one of those "hatch back" windows in the back. It played only 93 KHJ on the AM radio. When the Barracuda died, Jesse Upegi's uncle (?) came by and towed it away for free. I didn't realize at the time that I could have got $50 for salvage, doh! My second one was a 1964 Chevrolet Biscayne. It was white with red interior. The Biscayne was basically an Impala with a larger, boxier trunk. The first time I ever drove the car was to Anaheim Stadium for the Yes, Peter Frampton, Gentle Giant show (circa 1976?). I shared that car with my step-sister, Robin Cheek. Once I was out driving with two friends and we had consumed this concoction of Blue Hawaiian & Miller beer. One of my "friends" got sick and tossed chunks out the passenger side window. The stomach contents were green and left a nasty stain. Robin and I spent about a month parking the car across the street from our apartment (4672 w. 118th) so that my mom and her dad would not see the stain. It worked -- another wicked round of partying concealed from the powers that be.

Message: Marsha, your story about the old black phones brought back a lot of memories. My kids also used the entry closet for phone calls. I called the phone company and had a 20 foot cord attached. The bedrooms became the closet. That lasted a month till I could not stand tripping over that thing in the hallway leading to the bedrooms anymore and had it removed. Those were the days when my husband used to call our next door neighbor and ask her to come over and tell the kids to get off the phone so he could call home.

If I was lucky, I would make it all the way home without running out of gas. My VW had no gas gage. It was a 1954 like me. Up here in the Great Northwest the rains are back! One of my favorite 58's is the first Pontiac Bonneville. It was the first 50's American car that I can remember with bucket seats, and it had those chrome "Nomad looking" headliner pieces. Very cool car...

Message: Hey Alan, take you VW down to Tijuana and have them do the entire interior. It shouldn;t cost you much more than a couple hundred bucks. You can get the seat redone, headliner and door panels. The work is top notch. My first car was a 59 MGA back when I was a junior at HHS. I have decided to find a car built in 1958 (the year I was born) and rebuild that. I want a car built in that year, Any suggestions on what car I should buy. I like foriegn but would definitely buy American. I don;t want a 58 Chevy though. SO many of those. I want something that not many people have. By the way I love being back in Hawaii. One more thing, had about 11 charges on my credit card that weren't mine. Though my Barnaby Jones instinct and skill I have found the person who got my credit card number off the internet. He paid his electric bill the past two months and his cable bill plus bought a bunch of stufff off the internet. He lives in Anaheim and has a business called Stormmin's. My credit card company was great. They cancelled and fedexed me a new visa card. I have found out this guy has been doing this for awhile. I have his address and on Thursday I fly into LAX (on the way to Vegas for the Mr. Olmpia) so I will be visiting him. Jimbo what legal crap can I do to this guy (of course after Jones law deals with him). He has a business. Advise me. Aloha
Hey Keith, What weight class are you entered in? I'll be watching.

The only defense I have is that Cody Pickett was injured so you didn't get to see the Dawgs at their best. In fact Picketts last game against Arizona was not very good because he is still not 100% but enough with excuses. U.C.L.A. is one dam good team. And about the Rams, I have been a Ram fan for many years. I would like to see the Seahawks get their act together so I could have a local team to root for. Well thats all for now folks. Take care all of you Cougars, speaking of Cougars, don't forget those Wash. St. Cougars. There is still a chance that a Washington team could see Roses this year.
