Message: Sorry to take so much space lately but I have another Cougar sighting - Dirk Bailey, c/o 73. He came by my office today (another bright surprise!) while I was talking to another customer and it turns out my customer was Mike (I think) Watkins, Morningside, c/o 65! Of course, we directed him to CT and he has some things to share - something about 45 rpm record players IN CARS (good grief!) and cruising to the Wich Stand. I laughed and told him that record players in cars were the pre-cursor to texting on cell phones while driving....who knows about this???!! I'll bet Baker is guilty!
Guilty yes, never owned one but they were pretty cool back in the 60s. Any car with a record player.....well, it was James Bond-ish to say the least. Thanks Sue and NEVER be sorry for taking up space with Cougar Sightings.

Message: Here is an invitation from Larry and Myrtle (Reeves) Cole: We are preparing for our second wedding anniversary and decided to celebrate by attending the Palm Springs Follies on January 19th 2008. The new year will also mark the 45th anniversary of our graduation from HHS, and we thought it would be fun to have the class of 1963 (and friends of the class of 1963) join us for this occasion. The show will start at 1:30 P.M. and the featured performers will be the Four Aces. We have purchased a block of tickets at 40% off the regular price that are available at $46.00 each. We would really love to see a lot of our old friends there. If you would like to join us, please contact Bob at Cole's Equipment Rentals at 310-679-0284. Also, most of us are going to be there and hour or two before the performance to visit, window shop, and have lunch on the strip close to the theater. For further information about the Palm Springs Follies, go here: http://www.psfollies.com. Hope to see you there.
Hey Larry and Myrtle, sounds like a great way to gather the 63ers for a fun time reunion. Thanks and hope you get lots of friends to add to the party.

Hey Monk, Ernie "Butch" Douglas HHS62 had one also, a yellow 65 Chevelle wagon with a Muncie. Fun little sleeper

Message: Congratulations to John and Paco and those "GAMECOCKS!" That was a good game. I'm glad I have more faith in the Huskers' than the Sloey Brothers do. At least it wasn't as one sided as everyone thought. Here's to a great season of exciting football. Go Sooners!
Thank you Leslie and go Gamecocks!!

Message: I spent the day at route 66 watching all the great cars cruise by. I saw so many great cars, but my all time favorite is still the 55-56-57 Nomad. I saw a 2 door red 57 chevy wagon and remember someone in the late 60's having one in the school parking lot. It got me thinking about how many out there were Nomad and Chevy wagon owners?
OK, who owned a Nomad?

Message: Gosh, I don't know the exact opening dates of Hawthorne and I don't know what they would claim as the Birthday. The first classes were held at Leuzinger in the fall of 51. The second semester was moved to the Hawthorne campus probably in 1951 or 52. My sister was there but she doesn't currently have a computer or I would e-mail her. I doubt anyone remembers the exact date though.
Hi Marilyn, Yes you are correct as to the Leuzinger date. It was 9/1/51 when the school opened on the Leuzinger campus. Now when did they open the HHS campus? Just the month and year will do.

Message: I was digging in some old things and between the pages of a book I found the official Handbook for H.H.S. Parents 1963-64. It is less than ten pages long but contains a wealth of information about the school from the past. It contains the Bell Schedule, a complete Faculty list and all the other little odds and ends a parent needed to know. One thing that surprised me was HHS?s official birthday. Does anyone remember when it was? I wouldn?t have guessed this date at all.
There were two opening dates, folks. HHS actually opened on the Leuzinger campus. Then there was the official opening date of the HHS campus. Who knows the dates?

Message: Hey guys. While I was at Cruise Night a couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to meet a very nice lady named Stephanie, I didn't get her last name. I was able to get from her information concerning Roy Weber, C/O 64 or 65, he didn't graduate. Last Sunday I was able to call and speak with him for the first time in almost 40 years. Thanks, Stephanie. Roy and I and his brother John grew up on 118th street together. I can't remember not knowing them, this was truly a treat for me. Roy is living in Redondo Beach, doesn't have a computer or cell phone, says he's very non tech. If it wasn't for you, John, and Cougartown, this probably would never have happened. Much thanks to both of you, John and Stephanie
Hey Ernie, That was probably Stephanie Hall Brito HHS61 that you got the info from. See Cougs, it really doesn't matter who you are looking for, someone will know them. It's almost guaranteed.

Message: I had a Cougar sighting-sort of. Was in London last month and while I was there mom reminded me of a childhood friend who had moved to England about 8 years ago. I e-d her and it turned out she lived 30 miles from where I was staying! She and her honey spent a day driving us to several absolutely amazing historical sites near Bury St. Edmunds. We shared some wonderful memories of growing up on 115th St. She has a GREAT recollection of events! I tried to get her to log into CT but she'd rather spend her days on her horses. Kimmy Harrison, are you out there?
Now THAT'S going the extra mile for a sighting

Message: I'm out here. I have been so sick with pleurisy for 2 weeks and I'm so grateful for having Cougartown Feedback to entertain me. I felt as though my friends were all around me. I haven't written because for a while I didn't have the energy and I was stuck in Phoenix. In fact, for a few days I was reading Feedback on my cell phone screen. I've never had this illness before so I'm not sure what to expect other than the pain. Thanks to all of you who do take the time to write feedback. You're all better medicine than what the doctor hands out.
Ricki, Write yourself, and thanks....

Message: If anyone wants to see a great car show, come out for Route 66 in San Bernardino, CA. The show opened Thursday night and runs until Sunday afternoon. There are over 2100 cars registered and they cruise the downtown area showing off. Lots of great food and music too, but I like to take my lawn chair and just sit on the corner and watch the cars go by.
Thanks Carol....
