Message: Living and working in one of the World's giant sandboxes is not the most uplifting experience in life. The pictures and thoughts of those who were lucky enough to get to the 54-60 reunion have provided a spark in my life...thanks to you all. There is something special about ole Cougars. Hard to explain, but just look in their eyes and it can be felt. Stay happy...

Message: Though I did not know Steve Fraser personally I want to send my thoughts and prayers to him. I enjoy his email in CT. I have recently received 2 emails from him. He is such a nice guy! I have 2 good memories of yesteryear about him....When I started my freshman year at HHS and went to my first after-game dance...He was the first guy to ask me to dance at HHS. I also remember taking PE that same year...It was mandatory to take swimming. I had a hard time with it....Even Steve tried to teach me...I know he is a top notch swimmer...and mentioned in one of his emails he still teaches kids to swim...I was probably the only one he couldn't teach...I was just too darn stubborn. I do pray for a speedy recovery!

Message: The Branigan/Bierman family sends our prayers to Steve Fraser, an awesome Coug. Steve was the first Cougartowner to sign up for Escrip/Albertsons/Target to help out HHS. Get well soon, Steve! And thanks James for the plug, you're right, it's really EASY to sign up for the FREE MONEY program and it truly costs you NOTHING! E-me if you need help! Just got home from lovely Meadview AZ where I met the Randall Woods family ... they grew up in San Pedro but lived in Hawthorne for 9 years now... not far from where we lived. It just occurred to me that their son Justin probably graduated HHS, I think he's around 25 or so. Anyway it was a hoot to meet them at "the end of the road."

Message: I hate being the bearer of sad news but I just received a very moving e-mail this morning from a classmate of mine - Kristen (Rice) Hetherington that her husband John passed away late Friday evening. He suffered a severe heart attack and was only 66 years old. I live only 15 miles from Kristen and have as of yet to call her up and get together with her. That is going to change. Why does it take something like this also along with the sad news about Steve Fraser to realize how important it is to keep in touch with friends and acquaintances as we advance through life? I guess it serves as a gentle reminder that we should all keep our friendships in constant repair. My prayers go out to both Kristen and to Steve and his family. For anyone wanting to send Kristen a note, she can be reached at: kristyleigh@hotmail.com

Message: I hope Memorial Day was a good one for everyone. John, I've noticed that there have been a good number of people leaving feedback but there isn't an equal number of people signing up for eScrip. Is there anyone out there that can explain this curious phenomenon? It's not like it's very difficult or anything that someone would have trouble with and, if all these people leaving feedback are aggressive enough to do that, then it shouldn't be too hard for them to sign up, do you think?. Come on people! It's for OUR school, it needs OUR help! I have to say I am VERY disappointed in the response from the class of 1970. We are one of the largest class groups registered on Cougartown and we have only ONE! Thats embarrassing, we can do better. This doesn't cost anyone a dime. Where is the school spirit. Do we need a football game or a rally to stir it up? Come on, we are adults and should set the example for our future generations that WILL be in charge of OUR lives in the near future! Helping them with eScrip can set them in a positive direction with a positive attitude and create a ripple effect that could affect all our lives. What this newest generation is needing is what WE had, and have been talking about this whole time at Cougartown, is the knowing that us old farts care about them. So let us show them that we do. Sign Up to eScrip, don't hesitate.
P.S. I love the fact that the Dodgers are in first place. Peace out.

Message: It's great that the recent reunions turned out so well and that everyone had such a great time reconnecting with friends. If you are planning to come to the
66/67 reunion, our classmate Linda Padilla did some homework and found that the Courtyard Marriott located at 2633 W. Sepulveda in Torrance will give a special reunion rate of $129/night. They are very close by the South End and I think Linda said they would shuttle you to the reunion in case you want to have a Margarita or two. Their number is 800-321-2211. Things are coming together and more of our classmates are sending in their $$$. If you have emailed me or sent in a check recently, I promise to get the checks deposited and emails answered this weekend. It is getting down to wire on the end of my school year (I haven't graduated Kindergarten yet) and there are lots of things to wind up before summer comes. Then I will be free to do reunion things.
