Message: I decided to surf the web to look for old buddies from my high school days. A lot of them were from the neighboring high school--Leuzinger one was my very first boyfriend--Ronnie Lenfield--I FOUND HIM! We talked on the phone and exchanged email addresses and it was fun! I remember a few others from that school--Terry Hansen, Tomas Temprano are the only other names I remember. How about you?
From Leuzinger, I remember Paul and Arnold Bein, Tony Adams, Mike Spitzer, George Gates, Sammy Taylor, Ron Wedworth, just to name a few.

Message: Hey class of '78! I had an email from Arno Portegies regarding our reunion that should be coming up next year. He lives in Holland and wants to plan a trip to the states to include the reunion but he needs to start planning soon. Any news??? I found nothing on the reunion link so I thought I'd ask. Have a great Memorial Weekend! Remember those who did and still do so much to ensure our freedom!
There you go 78ers......start planning!!

Message: John Crotty might enjoy this: Today while driving on the 101 "Ventura Highway" heading East I saw something I've NEVER seen before; a 2007 Corvette limousine! I kid you not; The front and back of the Vette were attached to a center section stretched about 30' and the car was moving along a little slower than much of the traffic. It was white with dark tinted windows (of course).

Message: I can only say that if any of you ever wait or miss a reunion, for whatever reason, only the obvious need offer an excuse and they can't. If you miss it, shame on you. That, after the fire and turmoil on Catalina Island that our Cougs went through a couple of short weeks ago, waiting and hoping, that we would have a reunion, that getting that "REUNION" put together was a miracle. Jude and I are blessed with some of the greatest friends that one could want. Kudos to Buddy Youngreen and thanks to the whole reunion committee. All of the key people for each class. They worked their buns off. The warmth was felt in our hearts. Our dear friends, Rich and Mary Sloan, John " MR.COUGAR " Baker, Harry Plotkin and Kathy Brooks, Cal and Eva Kappen and all the rest of the great people who made our visit so grand, we just can't name you all. We got to see people who we haven't seen in 45 + years. The memories come flooding back and it's like you're almost reborn. It may sound corny, but it's a lot of COUGAR fun. Thanks to all of you who helped make a great time for the Jacobsens. I wish we could name you all. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU. Jake N Jude.
Hey Russ, My sentiments exactly. I felt the love from Cougars I hardly knew. It was a magic weekend as ALL reunions are. Thanks to you and Judi for spending a couple of days here too, and thanks to the invitees for showing up on such short notice a week ago yesterday. GEEZ has it been that long already? See you two in a couple of years at the next Senior Cougar bash.

Message: I just saw some of the Long Beach Pic's reunion web page and it struck me that I can't remember my ex girlfriend mother's name nor her maiden name. She graduated I think in 1959 (or earlier) and had 3 daughters. The one I dated, her name is Debbie Pregler who graduated in 84(we dated for 8 months in my Senior Year). I told my ex about the graduation and she said.."Oh ya..my mom is going"...so I was wondering if she was any in the pictures? Last time I saw her was probably in 1981! She has the cuties toes for a mom but I'll leave that between my ex and I.(BTW..my ex and I are best of friends....cool huh?)
Hi Ray, Why not email Debbie and find out?

Message: Hey John, Wouldn't it be weird if the 1000 page milestone was reached on the same day Barry Bonds passes Hank Aaron with his 755 home run? Two milestones in one day is some strange Cosmic Karma. Do you think we should invite Bud Selig to come say a few words to us or send an appreciation plaque to CT? Maybe we can find the previous record holder for high school blogs to pass the torch to you John? Just a few random thoughts of mine as the heat approaches 90 today in NorCal. Congratulations on 1000 and may we all live to see CT pass the 5,000 page milestone in 2029.
Amen to that. Maybe Barry would come by

Message: My hat is off to all the golfers who made it out to Westridge this past Saturday. A great time was had by all. For myself I want to thank Bud and Jill for all their hard work, JB for the Ad and over seeing that we do is good for the alumni. I wanted to talk with everyone there Saturday, but time has a way of running out. The people representing the range in graduating classes was perfect. Lots of history and old stories about HHS. On the personal side I enjoyed the banter between all who play, the times we shared together at HHS, and what we have done with ourselves. There were some things expressed about where we came from and how much growing up in Hawthorne has meant to each one of us. The work ethic instilled in us by our parents and community, the friends that we still call friends, effect how and what we are today. It doesn't matter where we are and go in our lives, when we see someone who has gone to HHS in our travels, we can pick right up and feel the sense of home. Nobody can take away the pride we all have in coming out of Hawthorne. I hope the word gets out for next year and more people come out and enjoy the golfing and the aftermath. Thanks Again, Wade
Well said, Wade, thanks a bunch for your efforts in making this one real special.

Message: All you golfers that came out Saturday, thank you for making this tournament a success! Bud, Wade and I may have planned it, but it was the golfers who made it fun! Westridge is a nice course. Congratulations to the winning team and the closest to pin and longest drive winners. For the first time in four years an Effler didn't win, of course they weren't there, maybe next year. We will start organizing the next one, so if you golfers want to email your comments to us, what you liked, what you didn't like and so on, it would be appreciated. We are going to see if we can have next years around the end of April so more people can make it. Thanks to everyone who came, and look for an email soon from Bud, Wade and I. To John Baker, thank you for the advertisement on C-town. NOW, I can turn my focus to the reunion! Okay class of 77, start RSVPing now!
Thanks Jill.....

Message: Thank you to all who came out on Friday night and Saturday for the festivities. Dori's Friday night get together was the best yet, even if you're not teeing it up Saturday, this event is a blast, great food, great room and a whole bunch of old buddies to share with. The Tournament I think was the best yet as we have finally found a home at Westridge. The staff was all over it to make us comfortable and well taken care of, little touches like the shuttles to the driving range and plenty of range balls for everyone was nice. The course, well it depends on your score cards but I think it's a great track and absolutely beautiful to play. The after tourney get together in the banquet room was lively, loud and a lot of fun. Great prizes and good food wrapped up a really fun day. There is one thing I hear from everyone that comes out to play and thats "I haven't laughed so hard in years" and if you were in Alan Forbes' cart this year you know what I mean. Thanks to my partners Jill and Wade and to all of you who make this so special, we look forward to seeing you all again next year, its going to be even better! Cheers, Bud
Thanks again to you, Bud, and to Jill and Wade for your hard work in making this tournament REAL special for all. Lots of fun, prizes, and just a very classy facility. We'll see you all next May for the 5th Annual Cougartown Golf Classic.
