Message: Cougar sighting! I just returned last night from a 6 day trip to visit Janet Brown Hyatt (63) and her husband, on their farm in Sparta, MO. Alex had to work. Being in between jobs, I picked this time of year to visit. I saw my first snow in over 30 years. It was 12 degrees (-4 windchill) when I left yesterday. Windy everyday. Only one warm day of 56, others freezing. Good thing they had a wood burning stove. Wonderful visit with my old friends. They took me to the Dick Clark Theater in Branson for lunch. In talking with the waitress, while watching a Beach Boys performance on video, I mentioned HHS. Are we surprised she is Euphemia "Kay" Morgan (64) from Leuzinger? 2 sightings within miles of each other. Lots of reminiscing took place those days.
Hey Adrianne, GREAT sightings. Thanks so much...

Message: Hey John, has it really been that long since I have been on Cougartown, guess I have been missing out on a lot. Any cruise nights coming up? I have been really busy the last two years helping out my Mom since her fall, and that has taken me away from a lot of things. I have two grandsons now and they take up alot of time too, what can I say, just been busy. But plan on getting on more now.
Hi Karen, well, glad you're back. Cruise night will be March 10th at Fosters. We'll see you there.

Message: Steve Hutchins 1959. Thanks for the names of the people in the picture. Bob Thompson is to the left of Patricia Payne. Bob's brother Bill graduated in 1958. He used to fly for Deutsch Company. He would also fly over underground phone lines to make sure somebody wasn't digging near them. I believe he flew a Cessna 180 taildragger. It had a loudspeaker mounted to the strut. Cougar factoid! Cal Kappen
Hey Cal, Thanks for the picture, the help, and the factoid....

Hi Karen, Thanks very much for your help. Carl Rilling gave us a few names, below, so if you can look at his feedback and relate those names to the pics it would be a big help.

Message: Hi to all the Cougars out there, been a long time since I have written in. Was at the Brian Wilson Concert on Saturday night, and it was so awesome. You could feel alot of love there for Brian, it was also nice to see Al up there too. It brought back a lot of memories. Saw some other Cougars , Bill Schultz, Barb Norris, John and Annie Rout, Bob and Karen Fraser, and Rich and Mary Sloan. All in all it was a BLAST!!!!!
So it takes a BW concert to finally get you back in Ctown after about 4 years absence, huh. Thanks Karen for the update.

Message: Fellow ?74 classmate Bud Rhoades and I went to last night?s Brian Wilson concert in Long Beach. Earlier in the day, just to make it a Hawthorne day, I drove past HHS and down my former street after dropping some relatives off at LAX. In and before HHS, I wasn?t a big Beach Boy fan. My few albums (I have a functioning turn table) include Holland and Surfs Up, two releases from the 70s when they had just about stopped singing about surf, cars and fun and instead sang about air and water pollution, anti-war demonstations and welfare. In any case, you would have to be dead to not know their classic songs. Brian Wilson?s voice is still pretty good. He can hit almost all the highs he could 45 years ago. Al Jardine and the 10 members of the band were excellent. The first half of the show was mostly Beach Boys classics although there were a few tunes I didn?t recognize. The second half was the full Pet Sounds album, in celebration of its 40th Anniversary. There were two encores and I think crowd left very satisfied. The crowd was mostly older (ouch- 45-65) I heard one 20-something from the audience talking on his cell phone just minutes after the show and he kept repeating, "Excellent concert!" I have a friend in La Jolla who says that Brian Wilson and the band are playing again this week at (my college alma mata) San Diego State University in the amphitheater. If you get a chance, GO!
Hey Robb, Sounds like you too had a fun night. Thanks for the report.

Message: A relative (who went to South High) sent me the link to a 1965 short film "Skater+Dater". I saw this short once at least forty years ago. Won a bunch of awards. It was shot in Lomita, Torrance, and other parts of the South Bay. My computer would stop and start until I let the film run awhile, back up almost to the beginning, then there were no interruprions. The surf music soundtrack, all the old cars, local 1960's neighborhoods, and some familiar sites are way nostalgic. Has anyone else ever posted this one and identifed all the filming locations?

Hey Michael, I am impressed that you, a 71er, would know these people over a decade your senior. How do you know them?

Message: What a great show in Long Beach last night. Brian and Al have still got it. Backed by an incredibe band, they did a lot of the old ones, the full "Pet Sounds" album and a great encore. The standing ovation after "God only Knows" was enough to put chills down your spine. I'm sure the other Cougs in attendance would agree with me. I'm sure there were many but I had no sightings.
Sounds like a great reunion. Thanks Steve...

Message: I didn't go to York but some people like Calvin (top center) just dont change. Ones I know are Verde Guy, Bob Thompson, William Carlson, Arthur Clark, Vance Morris, Patricia Payne, and Diane Ashdown. I didn't give locations as other 59'ers will have to figure it out. In the upper right corner his name is Lewis and he came here from Texas and may have left after 9th grade. That is not Winston and Louise in the photo. Winston Kavanaugh was so intelligent by our senior year he had forgotten more than I had learned. Really.
Hey Carl, Thanks a bunch and now I see Diane Ashdown in the top row next to Cal.
