Message: Looking at the York school, 5th grade picture, the boy on the lower left, I believe is Winston James Kavanaugh and the girl left of the Teacher, I believe is Louise Bufkin. I'm 99% sure. I do believe the boy top center is Kavin Kappen or 3rd row down, boy 7th from the left, too close to call. I could figure out the rest but it's my Saturday.
Hey thanks Michael for the help. I agree, Cal Kappen is the center picture on the top row.

Message: John I didn't go to HHS but grew up in Hawthorne and knew a lot of people in Hawthorne and cruised the same BLVD. as you all did. I'm sending you my dues because Ctown has brought me much pleasure for the last 8 years that I have been disabled. I hope $20 will cover it even though I have enjoyed it for so many years. In the last 3 years I have had a liver transplant, an infection that almost cost me my new liver, a stroke and cancer of the esophagus which I survived by the miracle of luck and surgery. C-town has helped me through this by bringing back memories and reuniting me with some long lost friends. Thank you John for everything. God bless you for helping so many people. Bob and Penny Brophy
Hey Bob, Glad to hear you are on the mend and thanks much for the dues. It's not pubicized here, but many people from Leuzinger, Mira Costa, Inglewood, Morningside, Aviation, Westchester, etc. send their dues too. It doesn't matter where we went to school, Hawthorne Bl. and the years we spent cruising the Bl, and the A&W, the Wich Stand, and others seem to be our nucleus.
BTW, didn't you live on Cedar Av. between 120th and 119th?? Just a guess but your name, I relate to Dick Dixon's neighborhood. Thanks again, Bob....

Message: I have a baseball story, I certainly remember the Wiseburn little league. My brother Mark Nielsen played on the Braves and my Mom was working in the snack bar, and was helping with making hamburgers and some little kid brought his plate back and complained that he never got any burger. The All Star teams when Mark was 11 and 12 were really good. Mike Colburn and Gary Allenson were both on the team.
Hey Vicki, I would have complained too. Thanks for the story....

Message: Gary, I didn't want to get into it but it was the year I won the World Championship I just met the guy who was promoting the show while I was at Legends in Belmont Shores. He was having lunch with Anthony Davis and AD was going to be one of the judges so they asked me. I was sponsored by Legends at the time and always ate there. SO I went and it was awesome. I was a daily judge at the longest running bikini contest at the Candy Store in Ft. Lauderdale while I was there. I think being a professional bikini contest judge would be a great job. I have done them all over the country and I gotta say it's a job thats easy and fun.

Check him out @ http://musclemafiaclothes.com/kdjpics.htm and http://musclemafiaclothes.com/KDJ.htm He has a lengthy resume and we are proud he is a fellow Cougar. That being said, I think I can take him ;0 Hey JB1 when is the happy day we can cheer Hooray! 10 years of Cougartown? I think it was early 98 when I found this great site. Last I just returned from Floyd Hayes Funeral. I did not get to tell Tom Hayes to check in @ Ctown as it was quite busy and tons of people there, Sorry Tracy Turner
Hey Britt, Cougartown has been around 10 years this July, although it was called the Early 60s Hawthorne Homepage that first year..

Message: 276 out of 6205! Gee, that's not even 5%, guys. Now I know Cougartown dues are strictly voluntary but this would be a great time to volunteer. For less than a buck a month you can not only help John Baker keep up this great site that we all enjoy but you can be a part in helping the new HHS Alumni Association get off the ground. To borrow from the TV ad, come on. I know you want to do it. I'll bet you just lost the address. Well it's John Baker, PO Box 1406, Lomita, CA 90717 Or even easier, just click on the icon at the top of this page. Mine's on the way and I don't think you're more broke then me?haha
Thanks Jerry, It seems the earlier classes are interested in Ctown more than the later classes and in all fairness to the classes of 80 and above, maybe they haven't been out of HHS long enough to appreciate Cougartown YET, but they will as the years roll on. Thanks again and thanks to all the dues paying members for your continual support.

One time I was brought over to judge the Miss Catalina Island Bikini Contest, which easily made it the best time there. But I gotta tell you Catalina really looks great today. Very beautiful and looks like the French Rivera. That is going to be allot of fun there for the reunion

Message: Just to say thanks to all the people who've signed up for the Catalina Reunion in May. It'll be one heck of a nostalgia weekend for you all. If you haven't yet made your arrangements, please do so real soon so we can plan for food, seating, etc. Please check the Reunions page on Cougartown or go here for all the information. I'm not computer literate so am doing all this the old fashioned way. If you need to email me please use spark@rockymountainpies.com and I will get your message. Thanks again and we'll see you on Catalina in May.
For all who plan on attending, please make sure your address information is correct on our Info System. This is VERY important as Buddy is using the U.S. mail to find you all. I will send an updated list to him in about a week. Thanks very much....

Message: Cougar sighting, while waiting to go to a church leader meeting, I was offered a ride with some others. On the way the driver said that when they first moved to McKinney they read a story in the newspaper about a 4-H student's cow being missing and the sheriff dispatched a helicopter to find it. She said that they sent this back to some friends in LA for a laugh. I said that I grew up in the LA area, she asked what part, I Hawthorne how about you, she said Hawthorne also. I asked if she went to HHS, sure did she said, her name was Terrilee Helen Class of 1976. I asked if she knew about Cougartown, she didn't, so I told what a great job John was doing with this site and that she should check it out. She said she would look it up. Lets hope she does.
So there you are....2 Cougs sitting in the same car in McKinney Texas. MAAANN, does anyone else find this fascinating? Thanks a bunch Howard, for that one.

Message: Not a Cougar Siteing but a Cougar Hearing. My daughters mom called tonight and asked me if I knew Kirk Greasby. I said of course we went in high school. She laughed and I heard someone else yell in the background. This girl gets on the phone and asks "you know Kirk" I said yes we used to go out. She laughed and said "so did I". I said "I don't remember you". She said she went out with Kirk back when they worked or met at the Golden Western, which I have no idea what it is. Her name is Mary Nelson from class of 82'. She apparently grew up in Inglewood but her dad who was an Inglewood cop didn't want her going to Inglewood High. So she came to HHS. Kirk email me if you want her email. She said she will come on Cougartown. So kind of a Cougar siting
That is close enough. It still amazes me how we sometimes find our Cougar friends. Thanks Keith for the story....
