Message: Ah yes, the old bench seats. Had em in my first 2 cars. A 63 Galaxie with a 390 T-Bird engine and a 66 Chrysler 300 with a 440 Magnum. Hated em both and only wanted a Mustang! Today however I kinda wish I had the Galaxie and the 300 back. Keeping Art and his sister in our prayers this Christmas. My best to you both. Merry Christmas to all the rest of the Cougar alumni too!
Hey Cliff, You sound like my kinda car guy. I think we all had cars we wish we had back, but my 58 Chevy is probably a Daihatsu today. Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

Message: I was looking at an old feedback from the year of December of 99 or 2000. I had declared I would quit smoking. Period! Everyone said that being a Coug I couldn't fail. John, you had put up a calender, counting the days. I had so much support, Coug's rooting me on, love and friendship from so many, that when I failed it was crushing. I felt like I had let the whole Cougar Nation down. And having failed, I thought I could use a crutch... stress, which I had in my head. Wife having two heart attacks etc.. But "The Coach" would have said stress is like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest and you learn how to deal with it. But if it hadn't been for the positve feedback, that stayed in my mind and friendship in C-Town, I probably would still be SMOKING! Maybe not. I might have been pushing up grass by now. But, John, I've been SMOKE FREE for 2 Years, starting on November 15th 2004. It took me awhile, but I'm a COUG. Never gave up. Thanks Coach. I was just one of the slow ones. MAY THE CHRISTMAS COUGAR BE WITH YOU!Jake N Jude
Hey Russ, Look at feedback page 181, about half way down. Not sure if that's where it started or not. CONGRATS BOY!! That is something you can be very proud of.

Message: RealCougartown.com is almost as strong as ever Sloey. You and Mike may no longer contribute but I e-mail myself every day. Then I drool my oatmeal, walk in circles and then answer my mail. Fatfingeritis has not set in yet but having our a**es handed to us by BYU in the Pop Tart Bowl is as near fatal. Merry Christmas to all Cougs past, present and future, and thank you John for this place we all love. :o)
Hey Robin boy, I been worried about you. Thanks for the shout and sorry OU was the first Pac10er to fall in a bowl game. I'm startin' to like them "katydid" colors.

Message: 2006 passed so quickly and here we are again getting ready to celebrate Christmas. So I want to spread a bushel of cheer to my Haytown family. Have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year. John you are the best. A special greeting to you and yours. Your grandchildren will be so proud of you when they grow up and realize what you have done for a huge group, that are no longer strangers! All my best! Hugs, Jan
Ahh Jan, thank you very much, but without YOU and the rest of the Cougs, this site would be a black hole. Thank you and all our Cougar alumni for your generous support of YOUR Cougartown and Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

Hey Michael, Thanks for that....glad Ctown's working out to find our old friends. You too have a very Merry Christmas...

Message: I remember on the old Ford column shifts we used to flip them over to the left side of the steering wheel. I think the whole idea was so you could shift and still keep your right arm around your sweetie. If on the right then the girl would have to do the shifting (grind-clunk-ouch-$%##&-etc). Of course we didn't have seat belts and all that jazz then. Can't recall many having automatic transmissions either.

Message: Didn't the Granny goose guy tear off the top of the bag, throw it aside and offer the chips to someone. Then someone complained about the trash being thrown on the ground, but it was never shown being thrown on the ground, thereafter a new commercial showed the trash fall harmlessly into a trah can. Karen the word was dethroning; I however have a little known disease called FAT FINGERITIS. It is not fatal, although it won't kill me, I shall die with it someday. Ms. Greasby takes great delight in tormenting me only because I am a Husker fan and she has to bear the burden of public admitting she and her family are Sooner fans. As for what it means, Robin and I started a coup [Greasbys-it's not where you put chickens] to takeover Cougartown a few years ago called REALCOURGARTOWN.COM. It was a joke. Mike Backus even engineered a temporary website, hence the allusion. Merry Christmas to all!
realcourgartown.com lasted what....40 minutes? Thanks James and where are Robin and Mike, anyway?

Message: John...I have to confess my ignorance here...what is "Bench Racing?" Anything to do with the seats? Or would that be watching from the proverbial "bench?" Really, I'm at a loss here.
Bench Racing is when a bunch of guys are sitting down (on a bench, maybe) talking about how fast a certain person's car is, or discussing who could beat who in a drag race. I didn't realize that term was an early 60s term. Just been added to the Slang Page.

I built a 64 Nova 2, two dr. hardtop for the strip when I retired. Raced it till we moved to MT. Sold it to a friend in Canada, now he is having fun!! Best too All, Murph
Hey Murph, You KNOW I love those car stories. Maybe instead of a Cruise Night, we could have a "Bench Racin' Night" for all the hard core car guys in Ctown. Thanks Al, and you too have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Message: What Clark is attempting to do is admirable but I think that he might try to associate with the PTA/PTSA what ever it is called today... First they are already recognized as a charity (tax exempt) and people can write donations off on their taxes. Next, working with an existing group, they may know what needs to be done but they may not have resources. Cougartown (CT) may play a role of passing along information to alumni. What CT could use are some representatives to the PTA who might bring back to CT some ideas for goals. I feel one major goal (Seats for Nyman Hall or Beach Boys landmark) every 2-3 years is sufficient. Minor goals $1000 or less (Scholarship, new plants for an agriculture group or whatever) can be every year. I would love to see CT be a ?go to? group for the principal (PTA) if some unusual situation comes up and needs to be taken care of promptly.
Thanks Chris.....
