Message: I'm glad to see all you "wanna-be" midwesterners making excuses for the Big 10 performance this upcoming weekend. You'll need those excuses come Sunday morning. Kirk, you're a good friend but let's get one thing clear. USC could play Nebraska at Holly Glen park with Bay League officials and whip em good. I think we should all be patient and just let the athletes decide this one on the field! Hey Jim Sloey, your brother was one of the best coaches we ever had at Hawthorne! It was in large part his contributions that led us past Loyola (ranked #1 in the state) until they took on the 74 Cougars!

Message: YAA-What Wade Said!!Jimmy, catchy tune, Lots of Big Words! But I think we lost sight of whom it was we were suppose to be RAGGING on. Johnny Trogan. Listen, If the Trogans played on a neutral field and had real referees from say the S/W confrence, It would be a different game. They'd have to play football the way it was ment to be played.Officals in their hip pockets, living across the street. NO-WAY. They live in Beverly Hills, drive Rolls, and wait for home games to get their pay checks from the student body to buy drugs. Because anyone who makes those kind of calls for SC has to be on something. Fight-On...
Like I said, the Orange Bowl officials were on our side too. What's a TROGAN??

Message: John, John John. How wmany Southern Cal games have you watched in the past 5 years? Not many I dare guess. While my brudder and I have been paying strict attention to them in preparation for Saturday [by the way if either Oklahaoma or THEE BIG RED loses Saturday the Greasbys and Sloeys will not be reading feedback for at least 2 weeks and we aren't going back to catch up either, so save all your $%^^ cause we won't be reading it anyway]. What Wade says is absolutely the truth. It's all in Pete Carroll's mannerism. 1. If he raises his arms in the air, it's a hold, block in the back, or an unnecesary rouhness call, 15 yards always always in favor of the Southern Cal team [they don't like to be called Southern Cal] 2. If he stands looking at the referees with his hands on his hips, it's either a motion or off-side penalty depending on what side of the ball Southern Cal has. 3. If he takes his head phones off, the referees will always call time out so that Pete can talk to them in essence giving Southern Cal a free time out. During that free Southern Cal time out, Pete will tell the referees what he wants them to call. And thats how it works in the confines of the friendly Coliseum.
In the last 5 years, ALL OF 'EM!!! I do remember an Orange Bowl a couple of years ago....Boy, SC has officials stashed all over the country. OK, back to Hawthorne talk, boys.

Message: Jim, Billy, John, This week is going to memorable. Big 12 and Pac 10. Whoa Nillie, football at it's best. Go Big Red, in both games. I think the Huskers will have a more difficult time against SC do to the fact they play in the referee friendly stadium. SC wins more games with their home field advantage because of the zebras. OU will be in the rain slick state of ORYGUN playing those Ringling Brothers Ducks, nice uni's. I hope there will be enough Red Beans and Corn bread for the Sooners and Corn Liquior for the Huskers to assist in their over powereing of their foes. There is nothing better than the NU/OU game. As long as the Sloey's and Greasby's get together to watch and carry on the banter of friendship and support of their schools. This has been going on since '65 when our dads set the stage. Good Times. My Best to Jim, Billy and John.
Hey Wade, Are you saying the reason SC has won 28 in a row at home is because they have the officials in their hip pocket? No credit given for the great teams in the last 5 or 6 years or maybe you think the officials live across the street from the Coliseum. Does Oklahoma get a break at home too? Or the Nebraska-USC game would be a "pickem" but the spread is 19 because of the officials.

Message: There is nothing like a Greasby. The Sloeys and Greasbys have been having this duel since 1962 when Pa Sloey loaded up the waghon and headed to Calefornia. We all dreaded the "BRUV GREASBY" in late November if thee BIG RED lost but relished our call if we won; 1971 was especially sweet. But Boomer Sooner has nothing on the hot dog shooter or our fight song, GO BIG RED!

Message: First things, first. Billie Jean was Glen's first wife. Long before Tanya Tucker and Mac's ex. Second thing, Mr. Sloey, I think my brothers do very well at keeping you on your toes. They dont need their "Little" sister to assist them. I enjoy the sarcasm thrown back and forth between you and the boys. Born and bred OKLAHOMA crimson and cream. Always have been and always will be deeply dedicated to the SOONERS. Bruv, my dad, wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for the support for this weekends match up with those Oregon fellows. Hope we stick it to them, as we did Washington. The Heisman will be ours this year! Take care, Jim.

Message: With respect to the three deaths reported in the '59 El Molino, I remember that two of them occurred over the Thanksgiving Day weekend of 1958. They were reported in the Cougar issue of December 1, 1958 as I recall. One of them was Tom Hane and the other was, I think, Michael Baker. I believe Mike Jones passed away a little later because his senior picture appeared in the '59 El Molino, while the others' didn't.
Thanks Steve, for the information....

Hey Kirk, As you do know, USC lost a BUNCH of players last year, so if I were you, I'd bet the Greasby Sooner Homestead on the Huskers next Saturday. No need to thank me, just get that bet down.

Already made plans with the Jensen boys, Judy Wudy, Marsha, Mo, JB, Baby Sis - Somebody got an agenda for this program?? Note that T-shirts, CT memberships, and general info will be available. Wonder if we could get a few of the HHS desks out there to get claimed? Bring your yearbooks, chairs and ice chests and any other amenities you want, cameras, happy faces and happy-to-see-you smiles. Oh, and don't forget some of your best Cougar stories.

Leslie, dear, I remember when you were knee high to a grasshopper aka Kirk. I thought you would outgrow that Sooner stuff but guess not. But this weekend I'll be rooting for the Sooners as the Big 12 annihilates the Pac 10. Nuff said. Oh and Leslie, we got Larry the Cable guy. Git er done! [Should I be proud of that?]
Did I detect a sideways slap in the face "challenge" to me, Paco, Dennis, Ron Mix, Curtis Conway, and a few others?

Message: Yes, Glenn Campbell did play with the Beach Boys, when Brian needed someone to fill in for him. I remember sitting in the Campbell Family home, on Mulholland Drive, looking at the photos on the wall and noticing a picture with Glenn and the boys. Listened to some recordings. I had the privilege of playing softball with the family, for a couple of years. Very down to earth people. Had to be... Glenn's wife, Billie Jean, was from OKLAHOMA!!! Did you hear that, Mr. Sloey? GO SOONERS!!! Also, I remember having Lucy Wong starting in my fourth grade class and all through high school. Good to hear from you, Lucy...
RE: Glen Campbell's wife. Was that Mac Davis' EX?

Message: JB, Mike Baker is the one from my class. Contrary to what you said, he did not commit suicide! He was swimming in my friend's pool, Joan Bradford, and he died of an embalism in his lung. He was trying to see how long he could stay under the water. Mike and I used to be good buddies in school and Jeff Baker was his brother, class of 60. The other two boys, I'm not sure of how they died, but I believe one of them was from a desease of some kind that he had most of his life. Maybe someone out there knows the story of the other two.
Not the way I heard it, Karen, but I will bow to your friendship with the Baker Bros. Thanks for helping out and I did hear from Robin on Tom Hanes. He died of Viral Meningitis.
