Message: The only bad thing about our recent reunion weekend was that it wasn't long enough and we never had enough time to talk to everyone, find everyone we wanted to see, stay up late, and still be coherent. So Cougars, keep in touch with the folks you merely waved to in the hall and meant to find later. . .send that e-mail, make that phone call, have that lunch! The memory books will be coming out soon-ish, so if you need to update your info or add a bio, send it along to me pronto. We want to keep in touch with you and help you keep in touch with your classmates.
Hi Laura, I know what you mean, I talked with Dave but didn't get to talk to you. Yes, now that you've all found each other, please keep your home and email addresses current on the Ctown Info System. That way you'll always be contacted when another Reunion comes along.

Message: It was great seeing all you 76'rs during the weekend. You did a great job with your reunion also. I was glad that I was able to meet many of you again and become acquainted with new alumni. Regarding the Cougartown picnic on Saturday, Sept. 23rd, at the El Segundo Rec. Park, be aware that the Richmond Street Fair will be going on the same time. It will start at 9AM and end at 5PM and is within walking distance of Rec. Park. Additionally, it is possible parking may be impacted.

Message: Cougar Sighting - Last Sunday Bob Whaley (c/o 69) had a group of us over for brunch and conversation at his new mega mansion, which is perched nicely on the course of the Moorpark Country Club. Bob has done real well for himself since copying off my paper at HHS! Also in attendance was Nancy Calvert class of 64, and her husband Mike (Edwards from Inglewood High ..they met at FOSTERS). Bob and I had fun bragging about the Beach Boys playing for free at our prom, while Nancy lamented that her class had failed to get them for an event because they had the nerve to demand $500. Bob's brother is Bill Whaley who was mentioned in an earlier post by Dan Johnson as a boyfriend of his stepsister, Doreen Whippo. Billy and Doreen did indeed marry, moved to Huntington Beach, and had a child, Chris. They are no longer married. Billy was Best Man at my wedding, and my wife, Marie, and I lived in Mrs.Whippo's apartments on Manor Drive for awhile after our wedding. Old Memories!
Thanks for the Coug Sighting Carl, we all love'm.

Message: WHEW! What a weekend! Our 30th reunion was a smash hit, and I need to take the time to thank the people who REALLY made it happen- our incredible committee. Laura Geele Wang, Carmen Fischler Mentges, Cindy Whittaker, Roni Treckman Kobel, Jodi Wilbanks Weishaar, Clark Millman, John Achrem, and Gloria Valencia. What a great team! Dave Krikac, the most talented, gifted speaker I've heard. You made us laugh, cry, remember, and laugh some more. The Ayres Hotel is beautiful, the staff is extremely helpful, and I encourage everyone to think Ayres when you need a hotel or event venue. My sister Sue and niece Lori, who came out to help with check-in and chaperone me, because I still need to be watched at all times! Our videographer, Nick Brosco, and his dad, Rich, who was our DJ. Need a videographer or DJ? Call me and I'll put you in touch. They're handsome AND talented! Thanks again to John Baker, the King of Cougartown; our teachers who took the time to come celebrate with us; our alumni who sponsored those teachers; and especially my wonderful husband Mike and son Mikey who put up with "reunion stuff" for the last 18 months. And most especially, our classmates... it wouldn't have been a reunion without YOU. Take the time to keep in touch with one another; life is too short, and time passes before you know it. Mini-reunions every few months should do it. Cougartown events are always a great way to keep in touch! Centrally located and something for everyone! Thanks again to all of you, you are my heroes!
You forgot the most important person, Sharon Bierman Branigan. Sharon, I KNOW you sweated this one out as I heard from you from month to month. You did a MARVELOUS job on this one and I know your whole class of 76 is VERY proud of you, and thanks you very much. Thanks for all you did to get your class together AND for all you do for Cougartown. It's not easy to do this kind of reunion and fairly thankless. You are one of a kind and well, your class and family is VERY lucky to have you..... I LOVE YOU MAAANN!! Now it's on to your 35th, so as my Dad would say, "Let's Get To Grindin'"

Message: My classmates have just about said it all! What a wonderful reunion!! We can never thank Sharon enough for the hours and hours she put into it! And have you ever seen such beautiful decor? We have Carmen to thank for that, as well as for the door prizes. Dave Krikak, my cheeks were sore from laughing--you will be our MC forever! Clark, your speech was great! Mike Rice, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you, but I was so impressed--your speech was awesome. Ronda Hall, it was incredible to see you (you haven't changed a bit!). Maybe someday we'll get the old volleyball team together for a game, but we'd better do it before we start having hip replacements! John Achrem, your slideshow was incredible! So many names and faces spinning around my brain--it's hard to fall asleep at night! The Spirit of '76 lives on...love you Cougs!
Yet ANOTHER 76er that gets it.....

Message: Just got back from our Reunion Trip to L.A.! WOW! What a night at the reunion. Thank you to all who worked to put it on...my wife, Cindy (Ogren, HHS '78) and I had a wonderful time seeing old(er) faces and catching up on the lives of those who meant so much to us while we were in high school. Among the usual suspects, it was wonderful to chat with folks like Sal Gumina, Linda Stepp, John Butterfield, Rick Bainbridge, Mike Rice, Dan Shulstad, Heidi Schussler, Dale Craig and Mark Manning. What a joy to discover where our class's life experiences have taken them and to be a part of the class that rocked the Ayres Hotel...I'm only sad we missed the Cruise Night at Foster's. But, life calls. Cindy and I will talk about that night for quite a while....it was AWESOME! THANK YOU!
Hey Steve, Now THAT'S what a reunion feels like. Glad you had a great weekend.

Message: The class of 76 "rocked the house" all weekend to celebrate our 30th. It was great from the Redondo pier on Friday night all the way to Cruise Night on Sunday evening ot Fosters Freeze in Hawthorne. I'd like to thank all the alumni who rescheduled vacations etc. in order to attend. It made it special to see so many high school friends. We partied at the Aytres hotel until the wee hours at which point I'm sure the Ayres was re-evaluating their decision to have reunions there. I have never seen so many beautiful women in their 40s gathered in one room! The "blonde " table entertained for a couple hours by dancing like wild women (Bless you all!) including Amy Jensen and Caron Ailey. Dave Krikak was masterful as the emcee and it was a great time had by all. Some folks had their kids help run the event including Sharon (Bierman) Branigans son, Mike, Susan Biemans beautiful 26 year old daughter, Lori, and Jodi(Wilbanks) Weishaars daughter who is a recent Hawthorne grad and gave me the warm fuzzies because I was able to see that ourt legacy of beautiful women in Hawthorne lives on! She looks just like Jodi! George Key honored us with his presence by riding his Harley down from Palos Verdes and Connie Krislock and other assorted teachers attended! I am proud to be a member of the class of 76 and although we should not live in the past I greatly enjoy revisiting it once every ten years with my classmates!
Clark Millman, president, HHS class of 1976

Message: Coincidences never cease - Sunday morning I had a Texan about my age stop by my booth at a local antiques show (I have a lot of 50's and 60's items for sale). We started talking and he was telling me that he perceives there is a relationship between cruising with your latest car and good places to eat. He was telling me about the show he had seen on TV the night before where this cop taking the journalist to all these really great places to eat (especially the pastrami dogs). Then he made a comment that many of the regulars of Cougartown can relate to - "If I could get in Mr. Peabody's Way-Back Machine, I'd go to the 1960's and never return."
Hi Sharon, MAAANN!!! I love the stories and people from the past and am darn proud of 60s Hawthorne, but know I wouldn't ever want to return......No Computers

Hi Debbie, great to see you and your sis there tonight, and yes, the 76ers had a great weekend, I'm sure. Their group is so fortunate to have a VERY together class. Some classes don't and that's sad, as they are missing something they'll never get back.

Message: Hello JB, Well, it's almost eight o'clock and I can only imagine what a great turnout there must be at Foster's right now. I am so envious of those who were able to make it. Sure could go for a banana-chocolate shake right now. I had every intention of making this event, but my doctor says one more week before I can start to drive again. Oh well.....you can't always get what you want. Maybe next time. Sounds like the class of '76 had a great reunion. Too bad Keith missed it. So far each one of these events that I've attended have reminded me in a lot of ways like a big family reunion. And families are a lot like fudge...mostly sweet with a few nuts!
Hey Anita, Yep, you missed a good Cruise Night tonight. Lots of regulars and a few 76ers tonight. I guess their party lasted until about 4 this morning so most are sleeping right now. Thanks to all for showing up tonight and now it's on to the Cougartown Picnic on the 23rd of September at Recreation Park in El Segundo. Hope to see you all there.

Message: Cougar NON-sighting: KEITH JONES AND PATTY VALENCIA-SAVILLE (V5). Both missed a great reunion despite threats that they'd both make an appearance. Suffice it to say that you were missed. Don't worry, we drank your share of the alcohol so nothing was wasted. Cougar sighting? Class of 76. They all shouted that Class of 76 Rules and for last night, they sure did. It was good to see all the "kids". Welcome back to the fold to many of you. Don't lose that connection now that you've found it again I had a ball "chaperoning" you once again. Gotta do this more often.
Yes, where WAS Keith anyway? Maybe he'll show up for Cruise Night. He promised he'd be here and I know he would NEVER break a promise.
